Adventure travel for "HOT INDIAN GIRLS" from Europe to India. " DUTCHMAN WANTS SEX, PAYS MORE FOR"LESS" !
2007-07-15 05:01:00
This news caught my eyes in yesterday's "The Times of India", Mumbai edition, on page13, dated July 14th,2007.Great! The guy flies to Kolkata, India from Europe to have a sex with "Hot Indian Girls" for a night, spends sometime(?) without paying advance, takes them to ATM center , wants sex, strikes a deal, pays and takes them to his hotel but refused entry at the hotel, gets furious at the hotel and the girls for not paying back his advance and reports the matter to the police who were in a fix ! Well well... the moral of the story is "verify everything before you land in an alien country".Don't let your baton hit your brains!! The best is to avoid such erotic adventures in a foreign land but if you have an incurable itch then... CHECK LIST:Whether the prostitution is legalized in a country you intend visitingFind out on Internet- views, experiences, precautions about a particular "red light area"Whether your hotel allows lady guests in your room in the night If possible n ...

Vacation to exotic pleasure place-CHAUKORI, Kumaon, Uttarakhand-India
2007-07-08 07:09:00
I met Gopal and Rani at Shikhar Restaurant during breakfast time at Almorah, a district town in Kumaon, Uttarakhand. Both wanted to see a truly peaceful place with an excellent Himalayan view. I was proceeding to my three final off beat somnolent hamlets, CHAUKORI, BINSAR and SITLAKHET (near Ranikhet). I invited them to join me to which they readily agreed after viewing some photos of CHAUKORI. To their good luck, I could confirm their reservation at KMVN guest house, CHOUKORI through a friend of mine at PITHORAGARH (05964-22549, KMVN Res. at Pithoragarh).Next day was a real cold winter morning in Almorah. We started on our incredible journey at 8AM as it was about to take 8 to 10 hours to cover a distance of 108 kms and we wanted to reach before dark. It was a descend into a beautiful valley! Luxuriant landscape-rivulets and green fields. What a sight! We took our lunch at a Pahari Bhaba (a small road side eating joint) and then started immediately on a two hour final ascend to our pa ...

Off beat destinations-Uttarakhand-India-Topography
2007-07-08 06:26:00
Okay!So you have asked me some brief details of the topography of Uttarakhand, India Here it is: Uttarakhand is one of the most beautiful state of India in the north The Kumaon region Himalayas lie next to the Garhwal region and are situated on the Great Himalayan Range. Kumaon is often confused with the Garhwal region itself.Kumaon comprises the three hill districts of Nainital, Almora and Pithoragarh. Mahakali (or Kali or Kali River, briefly mentioned in "Abbot-Mount" in archive) borders it in the east towards Nepal and the districts of Pauri Garhwal and Chamoli to the west. Tibet lies to the north and the Terai to the south. The Mahakali River, running along its eastern boundary, forms the Indo-Nepal international border. Moving westwards, one comes across the Panchchuli Massif, the Gori Valley, and the Pindari and Sunderdungha valleys at the western end of Kumaon. The Kali River and its valley are prominent in Kumaon. Garwhal region is in the north-west of Kumaon region with the ma ...

A Jewish Summer in Himalayas
2007-07-03 10:50:00
There is an interesting interruption in our journey to the off beat exotic places in Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, IndiaIt's an article in "The Times of India", page 15 by Kushwant Singh appeared today reporting "Old Manali Village" in Manali, Himachal Pradesh-India been turned into a Jewish enclave where two third of 100,00 tourists every year are the young Jewish backpackers in Manali and nearby villages.Undoubtedly, Manali is a paradise with it's cool climate, snow-capped peaks, lovely valleys, friendly people and with an added tourist attraction (to some) of ample supply of the world's best quality Malana cream hashish, rock "n" roll and trance parties. The young Israelis after leaving their compulsory military service or to get away from the continues armed conflict or to relieve stress and strain of the modern living find Manali or similar nearby places a true heaven on the earth! They seek in Manali pleasure, peace and happiness making these places their second homeWe have to ...

Off beat paradise in Uttarakhand-India continued....
2007-07-02 21:06:00
We are still in Kumaon Himalayas as we continue to explore the exotic and the unexplored wonders of nature !However, before we start our new journey some facts to be kept in mind:Prepare and planget a good travel guideI strongly recommend-Outlook traveller gateway "Weekend breaks from Delhi"; I call it a traveler's bible for Uttarakhand and Himachal.Second, contact KMVN(kumaon mandal vikas nigam), web site:kmvn.com for Kumaon region and website:gmvnl.com for Garhwal region. This state govt agencies are dependable, have hotels at the best locations, though the amenities and services may not match 3to5 star hotels and resorts. However, they arrange every thing - adventure tourism, spiritual tourism, treks, camps etcManage TimeThe distances may look short from one place to another but remember that it takes a long time to travel in hills as the roads are serpentine with a sudden change in the elevation. An average speed of 20 km per hour is what you should expect. Discourage a driver if h ...

Holiday-India good or bad?
2007-06-29 04:55:00
I am surprised albeit sadly on the article “Bad Indian holiday” written by Shoban Saxena in "The “Times of India” on the page no. 17, dated the June 17th, 2007.This is a classical example of a negative perception of a “glass is half empty” without acknowledging the positive views of the increasing number of the foreign tourists and the thousands of such visitors who have made India their home!Reporting “where time stops”, when the fact is that India is rocking and is truly vibrant!Mentioning the lanes of Varanasi(the holy town), as “funky gullies of Varanasi”, when actually these gullies take you to a memorable journey of peace and spiritualism and a cultural diversity unimaginable to a foreign tourist. The millions who take a dip every day in the great river Ganga die because it is “toxic”? This is ridiculous! If some foreign women tourists get “nightmare” walking through the “army of thousands of men” on the street in India, we also get stunned by watchi ...

Vacation-India- Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand
2007-06-27 04:09:00
The road from Lohaghat which brings you to Mount Abbot takes you further to PITHORAGARH, "the little Kashmir of Kumaon" but just after leaving Mount Abbot(10km), the road to your left takes you to another heavenly Himalayan wonder-CHAUKORI, a small but an unforgettable hill station at a height of more than 7000 ft !!So let's go to first to PITHORAGARH Pithoragarh at the height of 1650 meter above sea level, the eastern most district of Kumaon in Uttarakhand is bordered by Tibet on the north and Nepal on the east. The town is situated in a small valley 2 Km by 5 Km. Popularly known as the Soar Valley, it lies at the center of four hills - Chandak, Dhwaj, Thal Kedar and Kundar. This lesser known part of Kumaon is very picturesque and often referred to as ‘Mini Kashmir’.Pithoragarh is not only to enjoy natural beauty but also a chance to try various adventure ...

Stunning beauty of ABBOTT MOUNT, Uttarakhand
2007-06-14 07:26:00
The ABBOTT MOUNT was the highest point among the near by hills. You can go on relishing endlessly the snow peaks at the horizon and the clouds below you.My friends, especially Kate and Allen refused to leave inspite of darkness and cold creeping in with mist slowly engulfing us. Suddenly everything becoming truly mystic and intriguing around us. We lit a fire and while sipping our vodka with some local fruit juice, decided to have a competition of ghost stories! Each one of us was supposed to narrate a hopefully, true story! Ha--Ha--Well some stories were funny, some spooky but Judy won Rs. 500/- as the best story teller. She was great! It was about a ghost who was a school teacher during the day and a ghost in the night who fights criminals in the senior classes along with his pupil and gives credit to his studentsThe night sky with twinkling stars has to die to give birth to another dawn and so we retired to our rooms after a light dinner of Paranthas(a type of fried Indian bread) an ...

A journey to mystic ABBOTT MOUNT in Uttarakhand
2007-06-09 01:06:00
Judy,Kate and Allen were at the back seat of Maruti Suzuki van and I was at the front next to Raja , our driver.Though I had suggested strongly to take a good car from Delhi and travel by road all the way to our destination, Judy insisted to go by night train from Delhi to Kathgodam, the gateway to Kumaon from where we took a taxi in the wee hours of a cold morning to embark upon a journey to an off beat, exotic and a mystic place at the height of about 2000 meters- ABBOTT MOUNT near Nepal border.Kate and Allen in spite of cold and cloudy weather were excited with the prospects of journey ahead. However, when they talked to each other, I felt something more than a friendship which I had been observing since few days. A glint, a suggestive anticipation seeking some unspoken response. A situation where you don't know when you have crossed the borders of a simple friendship and entered into some thing heavenly called "love' ! Each craving for the other to look, talk, read the unwritten. ...

2007-06-01 08:13:00
I got a call at 02.00 am in Mumbai from a well wisher based at Minnesota, who asked me to be more descriptive in my narration as those who are not familiar with India find my journey a bit difficult to comprehend. Thanks for suggestions, Eric! I will try to be more elaborate in my text. So, continuing my rejuvenating journey and telling this world what's beautiful and amazing about this country-India, we are still in one of the northern state of India-Uttarakhand. This state has two regions-Garhwal and Kumaon, both like two jewels in the crown of India with great Himalayan range covering the entire state in north. We shall proceed with my experiences in Kumaon region then to Garhwal region entering into another stunning state, Himachal Pradesh, crossing the country to east to Sikkim and North Bengal before we enter into great plains of central IndiaKumaon also boasts like Himachal Pradesh, great pleasure and adventure tours. Off beat "Pingot" near Nanital, Uttarakhand
2007-05-26 13:55:00
Mr. Mahavir Gupta was standing near the statue of late Mr. G. B. Pant at the end of the Mall in Nanital, the famous hill station with a beautiful lake and a base camp town for all types of tours to interiors of Kumaon.A huge man like me, Mahavir was engrossed in his own thoughts, eating boiled spiced corn when I noticed that he took out a paper from his pocket and along with it his wallet, which he dropped on the ground being totally unaware of it.The place being crowded, I saw someone, a boy moving towards it with the clear intentions of picking it up quietly. I yelled at Mahavir and walked to him, suddenly making him conscious of what had happened. The boy walked away hurriedly. Mahavir was surprised and with an expression of gratitude, he invited me to a small joint across the road for a lunch and as I was hungry after a long walk from Tallital to the other end of Mall in that exceptionally cold day, I readily agreed.Soon we became friends and we decided to meet in the early evening ...

Is the slow vacation way to go?
2007-05-20 06:56:00
Would you like to zip through 20 places in India in 20 days or rather hang out in a remote corner of one, interacting with locals and learning their customs?Today , there appeared 2 articles in TOI, Mumbai, one on travel from Newsweek and the second as "The wonder that was Harappan India" by Shashi Tharoor which reaffirmed my long held views on pleasure travel and association with our ancient culture. However,I disagree that it's a new form of tourism. Creative instincts and habits had been existing since ages but may be because of lack of infrastructure and disposable income, this instinct remained dormant. In today's changed scenario, slow paced holidays are preferred and I have accompanied guests on such long easy paced tours, call it cultural, adventure, social or pleasure holidays with a flexible itinerary.Lets take an example:- earlier Dalhousie, Khajjiar and Chamba in Himachal Pradesh used to be covered in 2 days and in some instances even now but now people prefer a leisurely pac ...

Mukteshwar-The pleasure continues---
2007-05-17 04:25:00
---we had a simple meal at 3 pm and sat outside our room on the terrace to continue our watch on the unmatched beauty of peaks and valleys. Suddenly we realized that soon it will be dark and we must go into woods and follow the track below our rest house.Down towards north west in the valley at a distance was a township of Almorah.Towards west were hills playing the game of light and shade of the late afternoon. We started on our track, narrow and densely wooded with pine trees and a typical smell of leaves. Then there was a sound at a distance of some one running in the woods, a shadow and there was a silence. Ken was speechless, may be a bit scared.A head appeared behind a tree at a distance and it was a women, a tall silhouette. We moved closing a bit.And then we saw her.She was looking straight at us--her eyes ! my god! green !! I think so, though it was becoming dark. Not very common in this part of the country.I saw Ken and he was shivering with cold and excitement, both. She suddenl ...
