Unlocked iPhones Won't Get Support From Apple

Since iPhone's commercial launched in June 29, 2007, many were able to have their phones unlocked-making it possible to work on alternative GSM networks. With the growing number of unlocked iPhones, Apple has just announced that it won't provide any support for unlocked iPhones even if it's still under warranty period. iPhones are currently network locked with AT&T.A number developers at iPhoneSIMfree are selling software that once installed would enable the phone to work on any service provider with a standard GSM SIM card. According to the site iPhoneSIMfree, there is no need for any hardware modifications to unlock the iPhone other than changing the SIM card. The software works on iPhone versions up to 1.0.2., and the software won't affect any of the iPhone features except for the visual voice mail which is exclusive to AT&T.
