Audio A5 gets two new engines
2007-08-08 01:53:40
Audio have been in a constant battle with other German auto maker BMW, and their A5 has been trying to become king of the luxury automotive landscape. Audio are working hard too achieve this goal, which is why they are putting two new engines in their Audio A5.
Although the A5 was only launches last June in Europe, Audio feel that it is important to include these engines in their A5 range of cars. Both will be six cylinder engines, one of which will be the 3.2L engine, this is not exactly new for Audio, but the engine does have the added addition of variable lift control and direct injection. The engine will produce 265hp; the US will see this new engine in the fall.
The second of the two new engine types for the Audio A5 is the common-rail fuel injected 2.7L turbo-diesel, this produces 190hp, and it will propel you from 0-62 in just 7.6 seconds. Expect to achieve at least 35.9mpg; it is not sure when US customers will see this engine.

Pete Doherty In Court
2007-08-07 15:56:59
It has been reported that Pete Doherty was in court today and the judge adjourned the sentencing to September 4.
Today’s court case was for driving illegally while in possession of drugs.
Judge Lachlar told the court: “I see that he did not actually do the detox until the end of the month. Its early days, to put it mildly.
Then he went on to say that “He has been tested and it’s positive - perhaps not surprising at this early stage.”
“What I have in mind is to adjourn the matter for four weeks to assess his motivation. What I have in mind is a community order or prison. If he does not show his motivation it’s prison, as simple as that.”
It does seem that he is getting in trouble too many times and yet they are still letting him off with a slap on the wrist.
What do you think should happen to him?

Producer Scott Rudin and Disney have picked up the rights to the best-selling book, The Dangerous Book for Boys by brothers Conn and Hal Iggulden. It is reported that several studios were eyeing up the right to the film in spite of the fact that there isn’t really that much of a story.
The book is written in a “how-to” format, with chapters on topics like “Building a Treehouse,” “Skimming Stones,” “Making a Go-Cart,” and “Girls”.
Publisher HarperCollins has said,
In this digital age there is still a place for knots, skimming stones and stories of incredible courage. This book recaptures Sunday afternoons, stimulates curiosity, and makes for great father-son activities. The brothers Conn and Hal have put together a wonderful collection of all things that make being young or young at heart fun—building go-carts and electromagnets, identifying insects and spiders, and flying the world’s best paper airplanes.
The general buzz is that the movie will probably ...

The movie will be made by Sixth Sense Procuctions, the same company that was involved with the Oscar-nominated genocide drama Hotel Rwanda. Dr Zdravko Georgiev, husband of one of the nurses said,“The world will see the truth. The world must see the truth. Such a case doesn’t happen every day,”

Sydney Pollack steps down from Recount due to illness
2007-08-07 11:51:28
Oscar Winning director Sydney Pollack has withdrawn from his latest project due to illness. Pollack, 73, won Academy awards for his amazing work on Out of Africa and was due to start work on the political drama Recount in the autumn.
The film, about the lives of ordinary people caught up in the ballot recounts in Florida at the end of the 2000 US presidential race will now be directed by Jay Roach - director of comedies such as Meet the Parents and Austin Powers.
We’ve got no word on exactly what is wrong with Sydney but Leslie Dart, his representative has said, “He’s got some medical issues. He’s not feeling well right now. It would be unrealistic for him to go into production right away.”
A spokeswoman for producers at HBO have said Pollack will remain part of the project as one of it’s executive directors.
Our thoughts go out to Sydney and his family and hope he gets well soon.

President Bush should Veto State Children’s Health Insurance Program (S-CHIP)
2007-08-07 11:40:21
The House and Senate voted last week over the Bush administrations objections to go ahead and expand the S-CHIP (State Children’s Health Insurance Program), the congress did initially create the program to cover children whose parents were doing rather well to qualify for the Medicaid but not that well to buy their very own insurance.
Now they are looking to extend the coverage to these families earning up to 300% of the federal poverty level which is basically just over $60,000 for a family of 4, and with this children up to 25 years old, this is what the expansion Congress is seeking now. A welfare benefit for middle class households is what the Bush administration is calling it and is correct to call it this, and if the final bill comes from the conference which looks anything like the current versions don’t you think President Bush should come good and promise to Vito it.

2007-08-07 11:32:36
The other day Paris Hilton had said that she had ordered a hybrid Hummer, the only problem with her statement is that they do not exist. Hilton just like a spoilt child is not giving up on having one, and is trying to get a Hybrid Hummer designed.
Paris said “I like hybrids, but a lot of them aren’t that cute. I’m thinking silver … or maybe I’ll get a green one!” Is it me or is she just a little bit simple, wanting hybrids to be cute, how the hell is a Hummer cute.
So is there any car designers out there who would like to grant Paris Hilton’s wish and design her hybrid Hummer.

Vegetarians get lower life insurance premiums: Meat eaters do not get discount
2007-08-07 11:22:53
For all you vegetarians there is a new life insurance policy which has been recently launched which offers lower premiums, this is great news because it looks like the more you eat healthily the more you will benefit in paying lower premium insurances rates.
A company called Animal Friends Insurance have said that if you did not eat meat you would qualify for a stunning 6 percent discount of life cover and this is because there is medical evidence that those not eating meat are less likely to suffer from major illnesses than those who do eat meat.
The life insurance industry have not given adequate weight to the benefits of being a vegetarian plus who were in effect subsidising those who do eat meat by paying the same premiums (this is what not-for-profit group said). Underwritten by insurer Liverpool Victoria the policy is also available to meat eaters but without the discount.
Do you agree with this new policy?

NatWest Denies Breast Cancer Sufferer an Insurance Payout
2007-08-07 11:06:34
A woman who suffered from breast cancer has been denied insurance payout as she tried to rebuild her life after the terrible breast cancer due to an omission in her policy. Jilly had £70,000 of cover of which she claimed for and was totally confident that it would pay out but this was not to be. She was diagnosed with cancerous cells confined to ducts in her breast which is best known as ‘ductal carcinoma in situ’ and this was not covered in her insurance.
Apparently this claim is not covered because the type of cancer Jilly has is such an early form of cancer that it can be treated successfully, but this is bad news because Jilly says the Natwest salesmen did not point out any pitfalls when she was sold the policy.
Jilly said that if she did not have her breast removed her cancer would have spread and then it would have qualified for her claim, but this means she would have risked her life.
Should Jilly have got her insurance payout?

Countrywide Financial Shows Off $46.2 billion To Calm Mortgage Fears
2007-08-07 10:52:25
In an attempt to calm the current mortgage fears that are rippling through the market, Countrywide Financial has issued a filing with the SEC showing $46.2 billion.
This $46.2 billion is in cash, credit lines and other investments and it is trying to show investors that everything is fine and Countrywide Financial will not be the next mortgage company to file bankruptcy, like American Home Mortgage.
However, the market is still worried about the shaky mortgage market and particularly in the sub prime area, which is hitting stocks as large as Bear Stearns and HBOS.
Do you think this $46.2 billion will be enough to convince investors that Countrywide is still a good investment?
