Carla Gugino joins Patrick Wilson, Jackie Earle Haley, Matthew Goode, Billy Crudup, Jeffery Dean Morgan and Malin Akerma. Carla will play Sally Jupiter, a burlesque dancer turned superhero named The Silk Spectre. She is part of the Minutemen - the group of heroes who preceded the Watchmen. She is also the mother to the new Silk Spectre (played by Malin Akerman). Casablanca gets an Indian makeover 2007-08-08 16:59:11 One of the best romance movies of all time, Casablanca, is getting an Indian makeover. Casablanca is the story of a cynical bar owner in wartime Morocco drawn into the conflict when an old flame, then played by Ingrid Bergman, arrives looking for help. The new movie, which will be called Ezham Mudra, will be filmed in contemporary South India. Actor Suresh Hopi will play a restaurant owner who helps his lover, a Tamil separatist rebel fighting the Sri Lankan government, escape from India. Rajeev Nath, director, said that his film will be “a tribute” to the original and that he hoped to hold the premiere in Casablanca itself. He also said that the Malayalam-language film will not be political and would not side with any faction in the ongoing conflict. The film is scheduled for a 2008 release. Call sheet for Cloverfield/01-18-08 revealing ending has been leaked online 2007-08-08 16:06:22 NY Magazine has gotten hold of the call-sheet for the JJ Abrams produced top secret monster movies code-named Cloverfields/1-18-08. The sheet is for “Day 33 of 33” and seems to reveal the film’s opening scene, ending and alternative ending. The question that is undoubtedly on everyone’s minds is “couldn’t this call-sheet be a planted fake?” It’s definitely something JJ Abrams and his crew would do and it seems that the magazine has got hold of the call sheet far too easily from a set which has been sworn to secrecy. Couldn’t scene #160 just be the end of the Central Park sequence and not the end of the movie? JJ Abrams sells supernatural pitch to Paramount 2007-08-08 15:48:20 JJ Abrams has sold a pitch for a new supernatural thriller which is to be written and directed by Maria Full of Grace filmmaker Josh Marston. The film hasn’t yet got a title but will be produced under JJ Abram’s Bad Robot production company, which means we won’t know anything for a hell of a long time - déjà vu anyone? It’s likely that there’ll be a teaser trailer attached to Cloverfield/1-18-08 which will then lead to a myspace profile which launches a viral web campaign where people will discuss at great length the nature of the supernatural element. Sony to Launch an SSD Laptop, Forget HDD: VAIO TZ18GN 2007-08-08 15:29:27 Sony has very recently unveiled its sexy 11.1-inch notebook pc VAIO TZ18GN, which is thankfully equipped with SSD instead of HDD. This is great news, simply because an SSD based notebook pc features significantly faster booting speed. Not only that, but it will feature a lighter weight and a much longer battery life than existing HDD based laptops we are all used to. The TZ18GN is really impressive weighing just 1.15kg and lasting 11.5 hours. Details as to whether or not it will reach the States is unconfirmed, but let’s hope so. The new apect will allow people involved in news stories to add their comments to the Web page, expressing their views and opinions. Alex Chitu sees a less positive view on the comment enabling addition, noting his thoughts on a blog. “Google has all the tools necessary for citizen journalism (mobile video upload in YouTube, mobile photo upload for Blogger [and] personalized Google Maps), but it doesn’t use them,” Chitu said.
