Hurricane Flossie hits Pacific Ocean between Mexico and Hawaii
2007-08-10 12:41:03
It has been reported that tropical storm Flossie has now been upgraded to a Hurricane by the National Hurricane Center. The storm formed on Wednesday and was halfway between Mexico and Hawaii.
If Hurricane Flossie stays on course then it will go very close to Hawaii, sometime early this week. It is hoped that Hurricane Flossie will take a more Northern route, if so then it will hit cooler waters and will then weaken the storm.

The Punisher 2 finally gets a title
2007-08-10 07:58:39
Oh my, the guys at Marvel Studios have been busy these past few weeks. Not only do they have their mammoth movies Iron Man and The Hulk coming out next summer and confirming Matthew Vaughn as director of Thor, they’ve announced a new title for Lexi Alexander’s the Punisher 2, which begins filming soon in Montreal.
The title for the movie is - The Punisher: Welcome Back Frank.
If you are a Punisher fan (and you’re likely to be if you’re reading this) then you will recognise that name as the title of Garth Ennis’ first arc on The Punisher comic book, which revitalised the character a few years ago and lent many story elements to the Jonathan Hensleigh/Thomas Jane original.
There were many other untapped elements in Welcome Back Frank, including a police hunt for The Punisher, and the forming of an organisation of crackpot vigilantes who took their cue from Frank Castle’s antics, that could be used in the second Punisher movie.
The only plot outline for the movie at the momen ...

Salma Hayek signs up for her first post-pregnancy role
2007-08-10 07:45:08
Salma Hayek, who is currently rocking the heavily pregnant look, has signed up for her first post-baby role. Hayek will star in and produce a currently untitled romantic comedy for Walt Disney Pictures.
The film, about a conservative doctor who is taken aback to find that the ex-boyfriend of his fiancée (played by Hayek) is a Latin international superstar who wishes to win her back, was written by Ed Decter and John Strauss.
We’ve not seen Hayek in a big comedy role for a while now but her performances in Ugly Betty, Dogma and Once Upon A Time In Mexico suggests she has the chops for comedy.

It’s official: Matthew Vaughn will direct big screen adaptation of Thor
2007-08-10 07:36:12
For a few months, rumours were rife that Stardust director Matthew Vaughn was in talks to direct a big screen adaptation of the Marvel Comics character Thor. This morning Marvel has made it official.
Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend) penned the adaptation. The Mighty Thor is a Marvel Comics superhero based on the thunder god of Norse mythology. Comic book legends Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Larry Lieber created the character.
In the comic book series, Thor is on a mission from his father Odin to be a superhero on Earth while hiding under the secret identity of Dr. Donald Blake. Dr. Blake would transform back into Thor by tapping his walking stick on the ground.
It’s clear that all the major comic book players have been snapped up for movies and due to the revenue the films bring in, they have decided it’s worth seeing whether the lesser known, less popular films will do just as good.
Marvel will start production early this winter.

Daddy Day Camp Flopped at the Box-Office
2007-08-10 07:31:55
Oh dear, just as expected Daddy Day Camp flopped when it opened on Wednesday in 2,184 screens. The film didn’t even break $1 million and only managed $773,706. That’s a per screen average of around $350. Not Good!
When you compare the earnings for the whole day to The Bourne Ultimatum’s earnings on Wednesday which was over $6.7 million with a $1,840 per screen average.
Also, Knocked Up, which came out 10 weeks ago earned $175 per screen on Wednesday which is very good for an older release.
Daddy Day Camp was a brand spanking new movie on Wednesday and still it failed to pull in the audiences.
Hopefully this means that there won’t be a threequel?

I could not stop laughing, Nick Thune the man behind it is very funny and it is the most ingenious way to tell a love story about him and Instant messenger. Nick Thune was on The Tonight Show with his guitar singing this love story.
I will not go on and on about it just go below and watch it, then please DO come back and send in your comments of what you thought. It is very good.

Live-Action Voltron film looks set to go
2007-08-10 07:10:27
New Regency is close to deal with the Mark Gordon Company to bring Voltron: Defender of the Universe to the big screen. The live-action project was in development since 2004 but is now fast-tracked due to the success of Michael Bay’s Transformers.
The animated television series was popular in the 1980’s and will probably do very well when it hit’s the cinemas. Justin Marks (He-Man) penned the screenplay which is described as a post-apocalyptic tale set in New York City and Mexico. “Five ragtag survivors of an alien attack come together and end up piloting the five lion-shaped robots that combine and form the massive sword-wielding Voltron that helps battle Earth’s Invaders.”
Marks is also currently working on SuperMax and a new version of Street Fighter.
This movie could be very cool indeed, as long as it isn’t aimed primarily at little children. I think, like Transformers, the audience should be for anybody and everybody as the concept of this film could prove very succ ...

Hitman Teaser Poster Released
2007-08-10 06:22:53
MovieWeb has released the new teaser poster for the big screen adaptation of the popular video game Hitman. The teaser trailer for the movie didn’t look promising but the release of this poster seems to have made things look a little more promising
Video Game adaptations have never really lived up to the expectations of the fanatical gamers that play the, but I hope Hitman is different. The whole “Silent Assassin” concept is cool and if pulled off well in a movie would be awesome.
Hitman hits cinemas on October 12th 2007

MultiTouch Interface Coming to Apple’s Macbook Laptops too?
2007-08-10 06:19:39
A recent patent application made by the big fruit themselves shows how they may be trying to incorporate their popular(ish) multitouch interface to new macbooks in the future. A great note is that the screen of the laptop isn’t the touch screen, but it is the touchpad that shall be incorporating the multitouch idea, widening it to the length of the laptop.
Having thought about the idea, it seems great, revolutionary even. Those of you wondering whether you will ever be able to rest your wrists on the extended touchpad of your future Macbooks, don’t worry. They are (apparently) already working on sensors that can tell what your hands are doing (uh-oh) and where they are, so they will immediately know whether it was an accidental nudge to the touchpad or a quick flick of the pointer.
If you ask me, I love the idea. I can definitaley see this working, but please Apple- make it good.
What do you think of the new MultiTouch surface idea for the macbooks?

Honda FCX fuel cell hydrogen-powered car gets a for $12,000 tax credit from the IRS
2007-08-10 06:16:31
The Honda FCX fuel cell-powered car, as the IRS (Internal Revenue Service) has approved that this hydrogen-powered Honda FCX will get a $12,000 tax credit. This tax credit which is available is part of the federal Energy Policy Act of 2005, which has been put in place for America’s future.
This tax credit that is being offered will help to offset the higher costs associated, which normally occur when vehicles with advanced technology is being developed, which help to reduce CO2 emissions. This news is great for Honda as it shows that the IRS is showing that this vehicle could be viable for the public market.
