Mr. Ed the horse had a real name of Bamboo Harvester 2007-08-18 15:22:07 I remember him as Mr. Ed in the TV Show I watched as a kid (well the show run from 1961-1966, but I saw re-runs a few years later). What I found out today was that Mr. Ed had a real name of Bamboo Harvester, that’s right the Palomino horse (aka Mr. Ed) had a name in real life just like any other actor. The comedy series that Bamboo Harvester starred in was the lucky break for the horse that was trained by Will Rogers’ protege, Les Hilton. He had remarkable intelligence and this showed in the TV show, sadly 2 years after the show was cancelled in 1970 Bamboo Harvester was quietly put down at the age of 19 because of a variety of age related ailments, including arthritis and kidney problems. Michael K. Deaver, adviser to President Ronald Reagan Dies aged 69 2007-08-18 15:06:35 The close adviser to President Ronald Reagan, Michael K. Deaver has died today at his home in Bethesda Md, he was aged just 69. The family released a statement which said the cause of death was pancreatic cancer. Michael Deaver was known for being able to manipulate the media on what the president said and looked like, he was able to do his job of protecting the image of Ronald Reagan like no one else. The man was amazing at making sure the camera angles, poses and settings were perfect to enhance the Presidents appearance with flair. If we could sum up in a paragraph what were Michael Deaver’s best professional qualities it would be best said by Nancy Reagan. In her memoir she said Mr. Deaver’s greatest skill “was in arranging what were known as good visuals — televised events or scenes that would leave a powerful symbolic image in people’s minds” May he rest in peace. This follows over two days of Skype being down and Skype users suffering from “sign in” problems. Villu Arak, the Skype spokesman said: “The sign-on problems have been resolved. However Skype presence and chat may still take a few more hours to be fully operational.” The Skype outage was first confirmed on Thursday, but reports of Skype not working properly were surfacing on the internet as soon as Wednesday afternoon. West Nile Mosquitoes Reach Toronto: Risk of West Nile Virus 2007-08-18 09:12:47 In the latest news, the Toronto Public Health Authorities have reported that the dangerous mosquitoes that carry the fatal West Nile virus. The infected mosquitoes were discovered in the Bathurst St. and Eglinton Ave. area of Toronto. In Western Canada, there have been 225 human illnesses, largely in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. A man in Manitoba has already died from a neurological form of the disease and the outbreak is likely to have environmental affects. “People need to take measures to decrease the risk and protect themselves” against mosquito bites, said Dr. Howard Shapiro, Toronto’s associate medical officer of health.
