Mattel UK Recall Seven Barbie Playsets 2007-09-05 04:12:33 MATTEL UK has announced today it is recalling Barbie playsets that may contain excessive amounts of lead paint. The world’s largest toy maker has already had two high-profile recalls this summer this time though the toys being recalled by Mattel UK are seven Barbie playset accessories. No Barbie dolls are included in the recall. Microsoft Xbox 360 HD DVD to get price cut in Europe 2007-09-05 03:53:58 Microsoft has announced that their HD DVD add-on for the Xbox 360 is to get a price cut in Europe, at the moment the price is €200 and will now drop to €180. However it still seems that those in Europe are still getting a bad deal because if you do the conversion they are paying $244 for the Xbox 360 HD DVD add-on, whereas in the U.S it will only cost $179. This price cut I fear will not help increase HD DVD formatted discs sales, as the gap between them and Blu-ray seems to be getting larger and this is mainly due to the Blu-ray being incorporated into Sony PS3. Aftermarket tuners Saleen fined $700k for selling uncertified cars in California 2007-09-05 03:13:36 Aftermarket tuners Saleen has been fined $700k by the California Air Resources Board, this massive $700,000 fine has been set as Saleen have been making non-compliant changes to three of their vehicles that they have modified. The three cars in question are the Mustang S281, Focus S121 and the Focus N20; these three cars have been altered and were found to be illegal under ARB guidelines. Saleen were fined because they altered the emission control system on the Ford Focus N20, they then made the changes on the other two without getting them certified. However both the Mustang S281, Focus S121 have now been certified for use in California, but the Focus N20 has to be recalled then reconfigured. BMW Championship News: Golf- Phil Mickelson withdraws 2007-09-04 16:10:56 Golfer Phil Mickelson has withdrawn from the BMW Golf Championship even though he was able to hold off Tiger Woods in the recent Deutsche Bank Championship and to then beat him. The news that Mickelson withdraws from the BMW Championship is that he believes that he has been let down by Tim Finchem, the PGA Tour commissioner. Mickelson has been asking Finchem for a more balanced schedule, and he said that he would even walk away from this week’s BMW Championship golf event. Many people thought that Phil would not go through with it, but he did as he said that he needed the time off. Mickelson said that “This decision was not an easy one to make,â€� he then went on to say “And in no way is meant as disrespectful to the Tour or ’sending a message’ to anyone.
