Timberwolves Forward Eddie Griffin Has Died After His SUV Collided With Freight Train
2007-08-22 06:54:12
Former Minnesota Timberwolves forward Eddie Griffin has died after his sports utility vehicle collided with a freight train in a horrendous crash last week. Investigators on the case had to identify Griffin, who was a young 25 years old, by his dental records. Eddie had begun his career with the Houston Rockets in 2001 and was snatched up by the Timberwolves in March.
Beverly Begay, chief investigator for the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office has said, “The cause of death and manner of death, which also includes toxicology results, is pending.”
Griffin, the number 7 pick in the 2001 NBA draft and five-year veteran, had battled with alcohol problems since he came out of Seton Hall. In January he was suspended from five games due to violating his anti-drug program.
Former Timberwolves coach Dwane Casey said about Eddie, “Basketball was never an issue with him. He needed more life lessons, and unfortunately he was never able to reach his potential,”

Toy maker Mattel suing China Barbie over adult site abusing the name
2007-08-22 06:27:13
The toy maker Mattel has been to court so put across that the name of their Barbie Doll does not belong on and adult site, when I say adult I do mean pornographic and that has angered Mattel Inc. as it is not a good image for their Barbie Doll which is aimed at young girls.
The website in question is called China Barbie, and Mattel filled the lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Manhattan. The toy maker has said that China Barbie has tried to benefit from the clean-cut Barbie Doll which has been around for 48-years. The lawsuit has been filed so that Mattel can protect the image of the Barbie name generates over $1.6 billion.
The China Barbie website has been registered to a company called Global China Networks LLC, but the site is in fact operated in Hollywood, Fla, by resident Terri Gibson. Warner Bros plan a Return to Oz
2007-08-22 06:26:46
Warner Bros and producer Todd McFarlane have announced that they want to take us all back to Oz again, but this time round it’s not going to be all singing munchkins and ruby slippers! Apparently, the take on Frank L. Baum’s classis series of books will be darker. Writer Josh Olson has said think “Harry Potter dark, not Seven dark”.
McFarlane has described the project as a “dark, edgy, muscular PG-13”, although it seems that Olson would rather a slightly more tame PG and claims it’s more of a sequel than a remake.
Olson has said he is focussing on the 15 Oz books and the wealth of characters and imagination for his inspiration. McFarlane, however, is aiming at the Lord of the Rings’ audience by giving it a “2007 wow factor”. He says, “You’ve still got Dorothy trapped in an odd place, but she’s much closer to the Ripley from ‘Alien’ than a helpless singing girl.” Umm is anyone else a little confused?!
Now it seems that the writer and producer ha ...

Casting Begins for Justice League of America Next Week!
2007-08-22 05:45:15
Now, I’m sure the Hollywood Big Shots want me to die of excitement! Just when I was thinking maybe the Justice League of America won’t be made just yet, they reveal that casting for the movie begins Next Week!
After Christian Bale’s revelation that he’s not be approached at all about the project does this mean that they are planning to recast the parts of Batman and Superman? This certainly makes more sense, I mean there was no way that Bryan Singer would push back The Man of Steel and Christopher Nolan wouldn’t give up Bale’s option for a third Batman film.
With new faces for the film, the movie will be able stand alone from the single hero films. This is good news for the Superman and Batman franchise - if JLA flops (which I’m sure it won’t) then at least they’ll be separate from it.

2008 Honda Accord Sedan and Coupe Review
2007-08-22 05:43:27
We all know that the Japanese offer a perfect balance of style and engineering sophistication when it comes to their cars, this is true when you look at the new 2008 Honda Accord which comes in two variations the Sedan and a Coupe. Here we will try to write a simple review of what the new 2008 Honda Accord will offer us, what we do know is that the interior is more spacious, and the new engine provides the Accord with more power but not at the expense of fuel economy as that is still outstanding.
So let’s look at the 2008 Honda Accord Sedan first, Honda hope that this car will become the benchmark in this category which features other midsize vehicles such as the Nissan Altima and the Toyota Camry. Honda knew that they had to be very bold when styling the new Accord and it seems as if the Japanese automaker has pulled it off.
The front end of the Honda Accord Sedan is more substantial thanks to the use of a 6-sided grille, and also the line of the hood is much higher. The fenders a ...

Anthony Michael Hall in Dark Knight: His Character Revealed
2007-08-22 05:22:42
When it was announced that Anthony Michael Hall had been cast in The Dark Knight, the internet worked overtime trying to find out what role he would play in the movie. Warner Bros has decided to keep the project tightly under wraps, which has led to a whole load of spoilers being leaked online. Now, it seems, we have an insight on who Hall could play in the film.
Call sheet spoilers from earlier this month showed that there will be a new character in the film, Reese, who tries to blackmail Lucius Fox using Batman’s identity. Joshua Harto is said to be playing Reese, not Anthony Michael Hall.
So, who could Hall be playing? Well, according to HollywoodChicago, Hall’s character plans to use the Gotham City News to reveal Batman’s true identity. Hall’s character is said to be insanely jealous of Bruce Wayne and even drives a matching Lamborghini Murcielago like him.
HollywoodChicago say, “Of course, the Joker is the true villain. Out of fear that the Joker will lose the object o ...

Christian Bale Has Not Been Approached for Justice League of America
2007-08-22 05:01:45
I couldn’t be happier when the rumour of The Justice League of America movie being fast tracked into production. I seriously can’t wait for this movie, especially as Ryan Reynolds commented about the possibility of playing The Flash in the JLA movie.
Reynolds said, “[it] might, yeah. I don’t really know how much I’m allowed to talk about that stuff.”
Yesterday, IESB sat down and talk to Christian Bale about the possibility of a Justice League of America movie. Christian completely denied being asked to take part in the project saying, “It’d be better if it doesn’t tread on the toes of what we’re doing, though I feel that it would be better if it comes out after Batman 3.”
Could it be that they will replace Batman and Superman with new characters? Or maybe they’re doing a teen titan style JLA? I don’t see that happening and you can’t do a Justice League of America movie without the two integral characters. Who knows what will happen, if it happens at all?

Katie Price And Peter Andre Hit Back About Marrage Rumours
2007-08-22 04:59:24
Katie Price and Peter Andre hit back at reports that her two-year marriage is on the rocks.
It has been reported that Katie was spotted partying without her wedding ring just five weeks after the birth of baby Princess Tiaamii, which sparked rumours that she is missing the single life.
Peter is currently in Cyprus with the couple’s son Junior, preparing the family’s £3.5 million holiday home for Jordan and Princess to visit.
Katie said that that the reason she did not go to Cyprus is because that she did not have Princess’s passport ready so Pete went to get the place ready.
Katie said that she has always said that she would hit the town after her daughter’s birth; she said that “I said all along that after the baby, I’m going to go out and get absolutely wasted. And I did, and I enjoyed it.”
Peter has also denied that the marriage is in trouble, insisting the pair are the “strongest couple around”.
Do you think that they are a st ...

Sources Say: No Raptor-Like Monster(s) In Cloverfield/1-18-08
2007-08-22 04:51:57
DreadCentral reported a rumour last week from an E-mail spy who claimed to know the identity of the Cloverfield / 1-18-08 / Overnight monster(s). According to a ““Mr.Slusho”, much of the movie will revolve around the characters fleeing for their lives, not from the big one stomping the city, but from the “raptor-like” smaller versions hunting them down.“
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the report is totally untrue. DreadCentral is a great site who normally deliver great scoops but this isn’t one of them. It is reported that raptor like creatures belong in Dinosaur movies and not in 1-18-08!
So what will the monster(s) be? Do you have any ideas? Let us know.
