Apple finalises iPhone deal with European networks
2007-08-22 18:47:16
Apple has signed contracts with 3 European phone networks to exclusively sell the new iPhone, expected in late 2007 in Europe. The iPhone, which was made available in June in the United States, is expected to be released in the UK, France and Germany only, and will be released in Asia in 2008.
The three lucky networks are T-Mobile of Germany, Orange of France and O2 of the UK. They are bound by contract to give 10% of all profits and data transfer back to Apple in exchange for their exclusive right to sell the phone. Despite this obvious financial loss, the phone companies have claimed that it is worth it for the boost of image that is expected from being the only sellers of the phone, and the swarm of customers with high rates of spending on calls which will be attracted to the phone.
So, it’s good news if you are a European already anticipating the release of the iPhone. But to our US readers, was the iPhone worth the high price it is being sold for?

Even with Beckham, England still lose to Germany
2007-08-22 18:23:02
It seems that even with the help of new L.A Galaxy arrival David Beckham, England still can’t beat Germany at soccer!
The hosts took an early lead in today’s soccer match, when England’s Frank Lampard brought the score to 1-0 in the new sold out £800million Wembley Stadium. However, this success was short lived as Germany’s star Kevin Kuranyi tapped in a ball directed by Bernd Schneider, due to a fumbled save by England’s Paul Robinson.
England had several chances to gain the lead again, including a free kick by England hero David Beckham, who recently signed for LA Galaxy, which was tapped on by Manchester United’s Alan Smith towards John Terry. However, bad accuracy meant this was to no avail.
England suffered another set-back by upcoming German star Christian Pander on his international soccer debut, who scored with a powerful left foot strike to give Germany a lead of 2-1, and to eventually win the game for the German team.

2007-08-22 17:57:16
“There is nothing as important as the integrity of our game and the covenant we have with our fans.”
These were the words given by NBA Commissioner David Stern on the subject of referee Tim Donaghy, who recently admitted guilty to betting on games, some of which he actually worked in. The NBA have chosen former federal prosecutor Lawrence B. Pedowitz to conduct the review, and alongside his New York law firm Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz will study the NBA’s efforts against gambling and cheating.
Superstars such as Dwyane Wade, Kobe Bryant and 2006 Player of the Year award winner Steve Nash are all expected to be questioned by Pedowitz and his team, as well as other referees, coaches and league personnel.
So with the current scandal looming over the heads of the NBA, do you think this wi ...

BNC Mortgage Gets Shut Down By Lehman, 1200 jobs lost
2007-08-22 17:05:50
BNC Mortgage is a case of how things can go so horribly wrong, so fast in the mortgage business.
As recently as 2006, BNC Mortgage was a leader mortgage lender, providing more $14 billion in home loans.
Now BNC Mortgage has been shut down by Lehman, in a move that will cost the bank a massive $50 billion.
Although BNC Mortgage is being shut down, Lehman will still offer mortgages and home loans via another of their mortgage services, Aurora Loan Services. However, unlike BNC Mortgage, this company focuses on more creditworthy customers.
Lehman stock is down 24% this year so far and the shut down of BNC Mortgage is not going to help matters.
What do you think about BNC Mortgage being shut down?

Ferris Bueller 2: Jennifer Grey and Matthew Broderick both interested in the sequel
2007-08-22 15:24:10
One of my favorite films of all time has to be Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, that movie was way back in 1986 and was the movie that made Jennifer Grey and Matthew Broderick. This was also one of John Hughes best movies, so many people though that the movie would have have a sequel and now just over 20 years later it seems as if it will come off.
The movie will be called Ferris Bueller 2: Another Day Off, the story is to take place a day before Ferris’s birthday. Both Jennifer Grey and Matthew Broderick are interested in signing up to the sequel. Other people who are thinking of signing up to Ferris Bueller 2 is Alan Ruck, Charlie Sheen and also Ben Stein.

Flood Insurance - Winter is Just Around the Corner
2007-08-22 15:09:01
With the chances of flooding on the increase as plans are made to build more properties on the flood plains it could be wise to start looking into the cost of flood insurance. Especially with the winter just round the corner.
There are various organisations which you can contact in order to seek information on the likelihood or how great a risk your area is of flooding.
The insurance could be costly for people in high areas but paying an insurance premium will definitely be cheaper than one big pay out if the worst did happen!
There is a website available from the Association of British Insurers which provides information on what to do if you are about to be flooded or you have suffered a flood. http://www.abi.org.uk/floodinfo
To obtain a quote on Flood Insurance the following companies are just two of who provide Flood Insurance nationwide and legal and general

President Bush Shows Support For Iraqi Prime Minister and U.S. Troops in Iraq
2007-08-22 14:28:56
President Bush today had to again defend Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Malikil against U.S. lawmakers wanting to call for a no-confidence vote on his leadership at the annual convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Kansas City, Mo. where he was speaking.
“Prime Minister Maliki is a good guy, a good man with a difficult job, and I support him, it’s not up to the politicians in Washington, D.C., to say whether he will remain in his position. That is up to the Iraqi people who now live in a democracy and not a dictatorship.” was the response given by Bush.
In his speech Bush also included a defense of Iraq’s political progress, and many critics this week have also had to accept the success of the U.S. troop surge, but continued to protest about the slow pace of political reconciliation.
Is Prime Minister Nouri al-Malikil “the right guy for Iraq”?
Is the presence of the U.S. troops in Iraq still needed?

Permanent Push Up Bra
2007-08-22 12:49:01
Are you thinking about getting breast implants? If so you need to read this first.
Why not consider this new MIM technique also known as Cup&Up.
The theory behind it is that over time implants are just like natural breasts and will begin to sag.
So now it has been reported that MIM, which is an Israeli start up company have realized that they could recreate a permanent internal bra that would forever eliminate sagging and maintain the appearance of perky breasts.
How does it work I hear you ask well here is the scary part what they do is they anchor the implants via silicone threads to the ribs and fascia.
What do you think would you have it done?
I know I would never have something like that done.

Oil Prices Stay Below $70 As Hurricane Dean Avoids Gulf Platforms
2007-08-22 11:50:21
As hurricane dean is staying further south, the 4000 oil platforms in the Gulf are less at risk of damage than they were previously.
This has caused oil prices to stay below the $70 mark even though US crude oil prices were up 23 cents, they were still only at $69.80 per barrel.
As hurricane dean loses power and/or moves away from the oil platforms in the Gulf, oil prices fall.
Due to hurricane dean, some of the oil production has been shut down in the Gulf.
Are oil prices going to fall as hurricane dean dies out?

Presidential Campaign Fueled By Books
2007-08-22 11:21:34
Many of the front runners for the upcoming 2008 presidential elections are using books to fuel their campaign. A book to a possible future president is a tool which should not be underestimated for it hasmany purposes. It offers politicians a means to promote views in greater detail and set the record straight for any possible rumors.
Although, most candidates start writing, it is only the favored few which are ranked high enough in the polls that make any money out of publishing.
Hillary Rodham Clinton was given an $8 million book deal for her book “Living History,” and has gained over $1.2 million in book royalties since the book was published back in 2003
Other president hopeful Barack Obama who received a $425,000 advance against royalties for “The Audacity of Hope”. It was a best seller for weeks, and has now sold in excess of 1 million copies.
Is spending large amounts of money on these elaborate presidential campaigns really necessary?
