Can We Use a 2TB Hard Drive With a 64GB Buffer? 2007-08-23 07:35:24 Texas memory systems will soon have the biggest solid state disc. Solid state disc drives are the fastest method of storage ever created. The trick to the speed is that they are a hard drive that consists of just RAM or flash memory, usually they have no buffer, so that there is no bottle neck in read or write speeds. The only draw back has been that the sizes have been limited, the top has been only a 64gb solid state disc drive. This has now been replaced with Texas Memory Systems 2000 Gigabyte solid state disc drive, with 64 gigabytes as buffer, giving a 0.15ms read time, and a 0.5ms write time. For those that don’t no, that’s about 10 times the speed of any other solid state disc drive, and at least 100 times the speed of any hard drive around today. Intel introduces 3.0ghz Xeon Processor, and Drops The Pentium. 2007-08-23 07:33:01 Intel has officially released a new Xeon server processor to combat AMD’s Barcelona Opteron processor range, due to be released next month. Intel has also release a low voltage version of the chip which is clocked at 2.0ghz, consuming only 50 watts compared to the 3.0ghz version that eats 120 watts. And as the release of Intel’s Penryn processor is less than a year away, the company has announced the phasing out of all pentium processors. This will mean that no more single core processors will be in production from intel, meaning that in three years time, a celerons and pentuims will be rare. Warner Bros Bollywood New Movie is set to be ‘Made in China’ 2007-08-23 07:08:37 Hindi-language movie “Made In China” is being backed by Hollywood studio Warner Bros. The film, is the first of its kind to be shot on location in China. The Bollywood movie features Akshay Kumar as Sidhu, a Mumbai cook who is mistaken as a kung fu hero. The movie also stars Deepika Padukone. Bollywood is the name for the Mumbai-based Hindi-language movie industry that creates about 800 films a year. That’s twice as many as Hollywood. 14 million Indian people go to the cinema every day and Bollywood movies regularly make the UK box office top 10. Today it is reported that cute Aussie actress Isla Fisher will star in the film, to be titled “The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic”. The film sees Fisher as Rebecca Bloomwood, a recent college graduate working as a financial journalist in New York City. Her Shop-till-you-drop ways are causing a mountain of bills and forces her to find solutions to her mounting debt. On her quest to become debt-free, she falls in love with a highly successful entrepreneur who she’s highlighting for the magazine. Freeview Launch Major Campaign As Analogue Gets Ready To Switch Off 2007-08-23 06:34:50 We all new that this was coming and now with Freeview launching its major campaign this week in Copeland, Cumbria looks like we all need to get switched over from Analogue sooner that we thought. Copeland, Cumbria is the first place in the UK to switch off its analogue TV signal starting on the 17th October 2007. The press adverts will start to appear in the Whitehaven News on Thursday the 23rd August and will then run in other local press, including the West Cumbrian Gazette, over the ne xt three months in order to reach the remaining 25,000 non-digital television set owners in the area before switchover. The press campaign will also be supported by brand advertising on local radio and a series of advertorials in local press.
