Hole in the Universe: our little world and lives have no idea 2007-08-25 05:59:44 The news that astronomers have found a hole in the universe that measures 1 billion light years across (give or take a few million) makes our little world and lives seem so small. We have no idea or control over why this hole is in the universe or what could happen because of it, that’s open to discussion. All astronomers can do is scratch their heads about it and what’s just not there in this blank spot (maybe Q from Star Trek has something to-do with it). The expanse is around 6 billion trillion miles of nothing (emptiness), Minnesota astronomy professor Lawrence Rudnick said “This is 1,000 times the volume of what we sort of expected to see in terms of a typical void”. John Singleton Director Of Boyz In The Hood Involved In Los Angeles Fatal Accident 2007-08-25 05:59:01 John Singleton who is the director of “Boyz in the Hood,” was involved in a fatal accident on Thursday night in Los Angeles. It has been reported by the LAPD officers that John was driving his 2001 Lexus SUV about 8:00 p.m. on a Los Angeles street when a female pedestrian, not in a crosswalk, suddenly stepped out in front of his car. The Police have said that John immediately stopped and waited for police and ambulances to arrive. The pedestrian was a 57 year old woman who has been identified as Constance Russell of Los Angeles. She was taken to a nearby hospital but she unfortunately died Friday morning. The police have said that John was not speeding at the time and was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Kansas City Air Show: Over will 50,000 attend to see Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor 2007-08-24 18:19:42 This weekend sees the Kansas City Air Show coming to town, and organizers there expect over 50,000 people will attend over the weekend to see the show which is being held at the Wheeler Downtown Airport. The theme at this weekend’s air show is World War II, on the Sunday which is the last day visitors will get the chance to watch the Commemorative Air Force’s re-enactment team simulate a World War II dogfight, and none is more famous than on Dec. 7, 1941 which was when the Japanese attacked on Pearl Harbor. Gates open on Saturday and Sunday at 9 in the morning and then close at 5 in the afternoon. The price for a ticket is $12 in advance or $15 at the gate, children under 12 get in for free. $145 Billion Budget Signed Late By Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger 2007-08-24 17:17:40 Arnold Schwarzenegger, the governor of the state of California signed a $145 billion state spending plan Friday, making the plan a staggering two months late and $700 million less than the legislature approved. Payments to schools, hospitals, state contractors and social service agencies totaling billions of dollars had been delayed because last financial year ended on June 30 and when the new one began on July 1 it was left without a budget. The $700 million spending cuts were said to because of a promise to Senate Republicans to help end one of the longest budget stalemates in 30 years. “Some things are worth fighting for, and a good budget is one of those things,” Arnold Schwarzenegger said. He also stated California’s deficit had been $16 billion when he took office in 2003.
