iPhone 2nd Generation Romours Goes with Release In September 2007-08-28 18:16:28 Rumors about a version 2 iPhone that have been around since May are experiencing a resurgence. Details from an article in DigiTimes talks about the Chinese-language Commercial Times based in Taiwan where a recent report was made about Taiwan-based Wintek getting touch screen panel orders from Apple for its second-generation iPhone. The report claims that this new iPhone will begin shipping in September for around $249 to $299, and that they have already started test production in small batches. Other Chinese-language sources have cited Quanta Computer as a possible manufacturer of the supposed second gen iPhone. Both Quanta and Wintek have declined to comment however. Whether or not there’s truth to the rumor, I’m sure everyone can appreciate a $249 iPhone. One personally hopes that something similar to that is in the works. Bo Diddley suffers heart attack: Ellas Bates is now in a stable condition 2007-08-28 17:39:30 The musician Bo Diddley suffers a heart attack during a routine medical check-up, while in a hospital in Florida, 74 year old Diddley real name Ellas Bates is now in a stable condition. Bo Diddley started to fill ill during his check up and was then transferred to the ER where he suffered the heart attack; he then had to undergo surgery. Diddley has been feeling ill for a few months now, he has lost his toes to diabetes and back in may he suffered a stroke which has left him unable to speak. Fed Minutes Anticipation Cause Wall Street and Financial Markets to Slip 2007-08-28 16:05:08 Wall Street and the financial markets fell today after anticipation that the Fed Minutes will not ease the credit crunch in the market. The Dow Jones lost 280.28 points to close down 2.10% at 13,041.85. The Nasdaq lost 2.37% or 60.61 point to finish at 2,500.64. The S&P 500 closed at 1,432.36, losing 2.35% or 34.43 points. At the last meeting of the Federal Reserve, the Fed Minutes said that they would be holding interest rates the steady for the time being, but there has been some speculation that the Fed Minutes would allow some lowering of interest rates to support the mortgage and housing markets and ease the credit crunch.
