USA defeat Argentina at basketball in the FIBA Americas 2007-08-31 06:32:18 The USA maintained their undefeated streak in the FIBA American basketball tournament by defeating Argentina 91-76 recently.The 91 points included an impressive 27 from Kobe Bryant, and another 18 from Carmelo Anthony. LeBron James racked up another 15 points, and a further 10 were added by Chauncey Billups. Argentinian Luis Scola made 20 points, also. This was Argentina’s first defeat, meaning the USA will play Puerto Rico and Argentina will play Brazil, in the FIBA Americas semi-finals on Saturday. One Missed Call Movie Trailer 2007-08-31 05:57:09 The trailer for One Missed Call is now online. The film is an American remake of the Japanese horror film ‘Phone’. The story follows Beth Raymond (Shannyn Sossamon)and her friends who are terrorised by mobile phone messages that appear to recount the moment of their deaths. Even when they delete the messages, their number is still up and they’re still destined to die. Distraught Beth, after seeing two of her friends die, enlists the help of Detective Jack Andrews (Edward Burns) whose own sister Jean was killed in a freak accident that bears a strange resemblance to the deaths of Beth’s friends. Watch The Trailer For Stephen King’s The Mist 2007-08-31 05:27:02 Frank Darabont first premiered footage from his upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s The Mist at Comic-Con and it wasn’t well received. The footage didn’t impress many people. Although I sympathise with him, Stephen King adaptations must be really tough. But, saying that Darabont does seem to know how to tackle Stephen King. The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile are permanent reminders of how great Frank’s directional skills are. The new trailer for The Mist has certainly redeemed Darabont from the early footage shown. It seems he utilized both extensive set-ups and steadicam for the film. Mercy is said to be thirteen months old and Madonna apparently fell in love with the baby girl when she went to pick adopted son, David’s and visited Mercy’s orphanage. Like her soon to be brother, Mercy’s still has family who is alive, but they are too poor to care for her. The buzz surrounding Cloverfield is phenomenal. Not many scoops have emerged as of yet, but AintItCool has finally delivered some very, very interesting news. An e-mail tipper who is simply names DJ has confirmed that the teaser trailer footage is actually in the film, although more unabridged. DJ continues to say that a new scene could well be used for a second movie trailer. The scene shows “traumatized survivors, moving through a very dark corridor. The movie, directed by David Schwimmer stars Simon Pegg and Thandie Newton. The film is to have its premiere at the Toronto Film Festival next week, so no sites have been able to fully review it. The film is an extremely funny movie but is able to be endearing in all the important places. The story follows Dennis (Pegg) who, five years ago left his heavily pregnant fiancée, Libby (Netwon) at the alter. A bout of cold feet saw him running to the hills and ever since his life has been going round in circles. When Dennis discovers Libby hooked up with high-flying-go-getter Whit (Azaria), he realises it’s now or never. Toyota Vanguard Crossover: stretched RAV4 with 7 seats 2007-08-31 03:53:26 Many of us drivers out there have always loved the cool looking RAV4, but is seems as if Toyota has listened to some of their customers and are to make a larger vehicle that still uses the same floor plan as the RAV4 although being stretched. The new vehicle will be a crossover which Toyota are calling the Vanguard and will have 7 seats. The Vanguard was launched in Tokyo yesterday and has a choice of two engines, these are the 2.4liter 2AZ-FE and the 3.5liter 2GR-FE, there is also two types of transmission these are the 5 Super ECT and the 7-speed Super CVTi. Toyota is calling the new Vanguard a luxury-class mid-size SUV, but we will call it a CUV. The RAV4 has been very popular and it seems as if Toyota has made yet another great vehicle that will do very well in that market. John August’s The Nines Audio Commentary Online 2007-08-31 03:49:30 When Kevin Smith was getting ready to release Clerks 2, he had a great idea to release an audio commentary track for the film a few weeks after the film had been released. The whole idea of it was to try and get people to go back and see the film again, this time listening to the commentary on their iPod. This idea wasn’t well received with cinema owners, who claimed that people would be laughing at parts that weren’t funny, disturbing those watching the film without the commentary. Fair enough, considering that Kevin Smith is one super funny man. It seems that the idea has caught on. Not only has he said he would be releasing commentary, he has already recorded it and posted it online. I’m not expecting it to be as funny as Kevin Smith’s commentary however, I’m expecting ‘informative‘. The people of London have already begun to pay their respects for the late Princess of Wales. A memorial service will be held today and it has been reported that Prince Charles current wife, Camilla, will not attend the memorial service.
