I Am Legend Movie Review
2008-01-03 01:38:00
On this fine New Years Weekend I went and saw a movie. This movie was I Am Legend. There has been a lot of hype over this apocalyptic horror film, so I had to check it out for myself. I would have to say the movie was pretty good. The story is fairly simple, and has been done before. Some scientist invents a magical cure for cancer, but unfortunately it turns out disasterous. Nearly everyone in the world is infected by the virus. The virus doesn't necessarily kill the people, it just turns them into zombie-like creatures. With this scenario, the "last man on earth" attempts to find the cure and to save mankind. Robert Neville (played by Will Smith) is the main character. He was an officer in the army before the virus spread. He and his dog roam through New York City fighting off these creatures to survive. The movie takes no time for introductions and gets right into the action within minutes. Throughout the film there are little flash backs that give a background to the virus spreadi ...

Christmas Reviews: Call of Duty 4
2008-01-01 20:12:00
There has been nothing but praise for this game, and that is for a good reason. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PC) is a little piece of perfection. It strays from the Call of Duty series' main trail by switching from a World War II based game, to more modern combat. Throughout the single-player missions you are either a soldier with England, or US. (It switches randomly in the story, my countries may be off...). You fight through many battles, all of which are of reasonable length and difficulty. From what I have heard, the single-player campaign is on the short side, but still, I think it is very solid. Good story, good replay ability, etc. The graphics are great for what my computer is, but I'm sure they could be much better on a different machine or an Xbox 360/PS3. I only have a 2.8 GHZ processor, 1GB RAM and a GeForce 7600GS graphics card, so I can only run it on medium settings. But to me, it still looks really good. On to the multiplayer...This is where the game truly shines. ...
Happy New Year!

I just want to say Happy New Year to everyone. Time to get the list of new year's resolutions that you won't fulfil eh? 2007 was a good year, and I think 2008 may just be better. Seeing as the new year is upon us, I feel that I should try and spice things up. I will present you with a poll on whether or not I should change the overall look of my blog. Hit "No" if you like it the way it is, or hit "Yes" if you would like to see some change. Later I will determine if I want to change based on your votes, I will then gather some template options and have a vote on them, along with user suggestions if you so desire. online surveys - Take Our Poll Thank you for subscribing to my blog! ...

Christmas Reviews: Motorstorm
2007-12-31 01:25:00
Usually, the games that come bundled with consoles aren't the greatest games. This isn't the case with the 80GB PS3's bundled game Motorstorm. This racing game pits you against the rugged terrain of what looks like somewhere in Utah or Nevada or some desert area like that. There are many different styles of vehicles to choose from. You can choose the light wieght and speedy bikes, to the slow and heavy big rigs. From dune buggys to trucks. From ATVs to rally cars. You name it, if a car can go offroad, it's in this game. The graphics are very nice, though, with my old standard definition TV I know I'm not experiencing the graphics to their full potential, but still they are phenomenal. Gameplay is very well done. Each vehicle performs very differently, and each will be difficult to master. Physics are very well done, it's easier to crash on bikes than it is on big rigs. Crashes look great too, parts flying everywhere, and slow motion to boot. You can control your vehicles with eit ...
Kid Gets Phonebook Instead of PS3
2007-12-30 20:45:00
It couldn't get any worse. First of all, the kid gets a PS3 box with a phonebook in it for Christmas. Not too odd, if he ordered it off an auction site that is. His parents got it from an EB Games retail store. How this console got cleared for sale is beyond me. And wouldn't the parents notice that somehow the giant piece of machinery that is supposed to be in the box weighs surprisingly little? I don't blame them, but I find it funny how these things seem to happen. Someone at EB Games is getting fired soon...Thank you for subscribing to my blog! ...

Christmas Reviews: Heavenly Sword
2007-12-29 20:53:00
I will start out this review of Heavenly Sword for the PS3 by saying that if you like any sort of action games, this is for you. Heavenly Sword combines a traditional hack and slash action game with stylized ninja style combat as well as God of War like timing attacks. In the game you are Nariko, the daughter of the leader of your "clan". You are the only one that can use the Heavenly Sword, so you must save your people. There are a lot of cutscenes in this game, but man do they look good. It may seem boring to some, but I would think this game as an interactive movie more than a video game. Combat is fairly simple, a button for different types of attacks. The cool thing is that when you hold L1 and press attack buttons, you use a variety of ranged attacks. When you hold R1, you do stronger but slower attacks. And when you don't hold either, you do fast attacks. This makes for a great variety of gameplay styles. Perhaps my favorite part of the game is the implementation of the SIXAXIS ...
Cool Video of the Week #25 - Super Mario Frustration
2007-12-29 01:49:00
Yes, I know this is a somewhat old video, but I just came across it again and remembered how hilarious it is. It is a video of a guy playing a modified version of Super Mario Bros. and becoming really angry because the level itself is Super-challenging. Enjoy :) [WARNING: There is some bad language in this video]Thank you for subscribing to my blog! ...
DS Sells More Than PS2?
2007-12-28 20:09:00
Well this statement is true, in Japan. The super-popular Nintendo DS (20,954,157 sold) has indeed sold more units than the Playstation 2 (~20,901,468 sold) has in it's lifetime. This is a pretty big feat, considering that the PS2 has been out for 7 years now, and I think it is the best selling home console ever (correct me if I'm wrong). Still, in Japan Nintendo has always been dominant, so this doesn't surprise me. I enjoy my DS, and I can see why they have sold so many. It's a good handheld, and I'm pretty sure they'll sell 20 million more.Thank you for subscribing to my blog! ...
Christmas Reviews: Warhawk
2007-12-28 01:20:00
After playing this game for a while, I can safely say that, besides Guitar Hero III (which I had already owned for the PS2, but for some reason was given it for Christmas on the PS3, long story), it is my favorite PS3 game. The whole premise of the game is that of games like Battlefield 2. You spawn, kill some enemies, drive and fly around, etc. Though, this is a multiplayer only game. You can not play this alone. That being said, you have two options of play. You can either play online, or play split-screen style with a friend or two. There are 4 modes of gameplay, your traditional Deathmatch (kill everyone), Team Deathmatch (kill everyone on other team), Capture The Flag (capture the enemy teams flag), and Zones (control different parts of the other teams land to win). The online play is really fun and action packed. Where this game really shines is in the aerial combat. It is simple, yet challenging at the same time. When you get into a jet you can use hover or fly mode. Both have d ...
Christmas Reviews: Playstation 3
2007-12-27 19:57:00
Here I give you the first in the Christmas Review series, where I dish out reviews for the games I got this Christmas. I thought I'd start with the PS3, seeing as I've spent more time on it than any one game. When I first opened it, the first thing I thought was "Man, is this shiny", and it really is. The hardware is beatifully done, very sleek, shiny, although very large too. The user interface has the same sleek feeling. Smooth transitions between menu items, and overall I like the interface. Using the Bluetooth SIXAXIS controller was very easy and well done. Just plug it in, press the PS button in the middle and you're ready to go. Setting up the console was very easy, entering name, date & time, adress etc., very well done. Signing up for the Playstation Network was the same way, quick, to the point, and easy. I like the Playstation Store, it's simple, but it could be better. I haven't used much of the friends features, so I don't know how they are. The web browser is OK, not ...

iTunes Rentals In The Future
2007-12-27 01:41:00
It was bound to happen, and soon it will. Supposedly Apple and Fox have been talking about a movie deal. The deal would consist of allowing people to download new movies and letting them have them for a limited time. No word on pricing, but I would assume it would be much less than the current price of a new movie on iTunes ($14.99). I think it is a great idea. I can't see myself buying an iTunes movie at this current stage. I would most likely watch it once, if that, then never watch it again. It would just sit there wasting up space on my iPod. Renting a movie would give the average person more value for their money. Instead of paying upwards of $15 for a movie you will watch once or twice, you can pay $4, or maybe less, to watch it for a week (or so). A good step for Apple.Thank you for subscribing to my blog! ...
