Freebies-Itunes
2008-02-16 11:11:26
This is probably a shocker to many people who uses I-Tunes on a daily basis. For all of those who don’t know what’s I-Tunes, then let me give you a simple definition. I-Tunes is a software for your mp3 player (preferably apple based products) that allows you to buy music, videos, or games off the internet.
So how does this qualifies as a “freebe” if you still have to buy music off the internet? First off, it’s free to download, automatically making it a freebe. Secondly, you don’t have to buy every single thing off Itunes. Believe or not, there are some things on I-Tunes that are free! There are such things as pod casts, which are subscriptions to free video content, and music. Another reason why Itunes is perfect for you is because it organizes all of you files, so if you’re a messy person like me, then this is the perfect way to develop some cleaning skills.
If you want to download Itunes for yourself, then please visit their website.

Computer News-CanSecWest Holds Hacking Competition
2008-02-15 19:11:25
I know there are some of you out there who like to “modify” some software programs. When I mean modify, I mean hack. Hacking is considered a crime, which is punishable by spending a couple years in prison. However, there’s a competition out there that you can finally be that hacker you always wanted to be. Introducing, CanSecWest 2008.
CanSecWest, the world’s most advanced conference focusing on applied digital security, is about bringing the industry luminaries together in a relaxed environment which promotes collaboration and social networking. This year could be different though. The even will host a hacking contest like this may be a good indication that they’re serious about discovering vulnerabilities.
Though seemingly an obvious catalyst for innovation, critics call out that the conference sometimes reveals vulnerabilities to the public before developers have a chance to react.
Specific rules in the contest are still in flux, “last year’s contest generated so ...

Freebies-Gimp
2008-02-14 17:22:31
Adobe’s Photoshop series has been dominating the image editing market for years. However, some people are too cheap-wait, photoshop CS3 costs $1000! Okay…some people aren’t too keen on the idea of shelling out $1000 for a program. Well, what if I told you don’t need to buy photoshop? What if I told you that there’s another freeware program out there that’s not as good as Photoshop CS3, but it’s no slouch either? Introducing, Gimp.
Gimp, or as I like to call it, “the poorman’s photoshop”, is a freeware image editing program for those who aren’t willing to spend a $1000 on an image editing program. Gimp has all of the features of photoshop like an extract tool, layers, a gradient tool, and a magic wand tool. But there’s two things that Gimp has that Photoshop CS3 will never have; an affordable price and extra scripts! First let’s talk the price. Gimp costs $0.00. Now that’s a price I can afford. Also, Gimp has a larger fan base than Photoshop’s since Gimp h ...

Computer News-India is suffering from computer related injuries
2008-02-13 15:41:09
Computers are becoming more of a way of life, then a trend, which many people thought the computer was before the turn of the century. However, India is suffering from computers since Nitin and Gitika are recent victims of Computer Related Injury (CRI) that’s destroying on young India’s health. It’s caused when muscles, tendons or nerves are compressed for a long period, resulting in severe pain, numbness and a tingling sensation. Generally, neck, back, shoulders, elbows, arms or wrists are affected. It’s also known as Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI).
As more people get hooked to laptops, mobiles and even playstations, incidence of CRI has become common. Earlier, wrist pain or numbness in the hand would be common among older people, but in the last few years, it’s the young (20-30 yrs) who’ve been suffering from it. Even schoolchildren are reporting it.

MP3 Player News-ITunesU Hits University of Maine
2008-02-12 16:30:00
Do you go to the University of Maine? Then I have some good news to you! The university is one of 37 colleges in the country that is being described as “a campus that never sleeps” by Apple, the creator of iTunes U.
The program is a free, Web-based content distribution system hosted by Apple that enables colleges and universities to make audio and video material from lectures, interviews, audio books and other sources more available through the iTunes Store.
“It’s impossible to take just a few steps on campus and not see someone with an iPod,” UM Student Government President Derek Mitchell said in an e-mail interview Friday. “Students definitely have grasped onto that technology for entertainment, so it seems only natural that UMaine bring university programming direct to students that way.”
Users can download the free content to a Mac or PC, transfer the information to their iPod or other MP3 player, and listen to or view university-related information a ...

News-Apple Released New Patch To Quicktime To Fix Security Bugs
2008-02-11 17:44:47
Other than Windows Media Player, Quicktime is another media player widely used by media freaks. However, if you downloaded Quicktime, then you might of realized that you’ve been attacked by a lot of viruses lately, right? Well, don’t blame you’re anti-virus program, blame Quicktime.
Apple has just released an update for Quicktime to fix a potentially dangerous flaw that affected most versions of Mac OS X and Windows Vista, as well as Windows XP Service Pack 2 owners.
The newest software update, Quicktime version 7.4.1, closes a security hole that made it possible to attackers to manipulate arbitrary code execution through the program’s handling of a specific kind of Internet address.
Specifically, the vulnerability deals with a gap in the security measures of Quicktime’s RTSP tunneling. The flaw affects Mac OS X versions 10.3.9, 10.4.7, 10.5, or later, as well as Windows Vista and XP SP2.
You can download the latest patch through the Quicktime player.
