NIKON - COOLPIX S500
1969-12-31 17:59:59
Building on the success of the Style Series of digital cameras, Nikon is has introduced the Coolpix S500 and S200. Boasting 7.1 megapixels, a 3x Zoom-Nikkor glass lens, VR Image Stabilization technologies, and sleek metal bodies, these cameras offer high performance and exquisite design. Both cameras feature a classic camera design as the lens extends from the camera's body when the cameras are turned on; the S200 is constructed from brushed aluminum and the S500 from stainless steel. In addition the S200 and S500 feature several imaging innovations designed to encourage carefree shooting for the consumer. The S200 utilizes Electronic Vibration Reduction (e-VR) Image Stabilization, a feature that electronically overcomes camera shake for sharper results. For greater vibration control, the S500 features Optical VR Image Stabilization, a feature that compensates for camera shake ensuring sharp images at shutter speeds up to three times slower than would normally be possible. Both the S2 ...
Sony NW-A800 video/MP3 player
1969-12-31 17:59:59
The Sony NW-A800 series of the video/MP3 players is popular for two essential reasons: great styling and fantastic video playback. Design speaks for itself. The chassis is a cool matte finish with silver accents, and is available in black, violet, pink, or white. Photographs do not easily portray just how small the 43.8 x 88.0 x 9.1 mm (1.7 x 3.5 x 0.36 in.) device is, but even when expecting small you will be surprised upon opening the box. The clean user interface is reminiscent of the PSP. Another big plus is the incredibly sharp 2" QVGA display. Since the NW-A800 series is compatible with photos and movies, your videos will be a pleasure to watch (for as long as you can watch view videos on that size screen). And, built-in slideshow functionality complements video playback. Simply drag-and-drop your files onto the player when it is connected to a PC. Product Info ...

Intel Unveils Core 2 Duo E6750
1969-12-31 17:59:59
Intel today lifted the performance non-disclosure agreement, or NDA, for the first product of its Core 2 Duo E6x50-sequence lineup?the Core 2 Duo E6750. Despite being the first refreshed Conroe-based processor since the original Conroe debut, excluding Kentsfield, the Core 2 Duo E6750 clocks in below the dual-core flagship Core 2 Extreme X6800. Intel clocks the Core 2 Duo E6750 at 2.66 GHz, identical to the E6700. New to the Core 2 Duo E6750 however, is a faster 1333 MHz front-side bus to match the new Bearlake chipset-family, including the new P35 Express. Besides the faster front-side bus, the new Core 2 Duo E6750 has an identical feature set to the E6700 including 4MB of shared L2 cache. Other Core 2 Duo E6x50-sequence processors have the same shared 4MB L2 cache configuration and Intel has no plans of releasing a 1333 MHz front-side bus processor with 2MB of L2 cache.Intel Virtualization, Enhanced Intel SpeedStep, Intel 64 and Execute Disable Bit technologies make a return on the C ...

The weirdest solar-powered motorbike
1969-12-31 17:59:59
Is it a snail? Is it a two-wheeled version of the Sidney Opera house? Nope... It's a solar-powered motorbike designed by SunRed, a Spanish automotive development company, that got a prize for Best Innovative Technology during the Barcelona Int'l Auto Show. The project, which will result in a life-size prototype in the near future, consisted in creating a model able to capture sunlight, store electrical power and power the motorbike in the most environmentally respectful way. Instead of deploying panels that might occupy too much space, SunRed decided to adopt a clamshell structure that would optimize the panels surface while not making the vehicle bulky. When the bike is stopped, the solar panels surface tops up to 3.1 m2 (25 sq. ft) and it can store energy for up to 20km (13 miles) at 50km/h (30 mph). The motor, as in most modern electric bikes, is brushless and it's placed right in the axle of the wheel, saving transmission components.Read More ...
Yamaha Virago Waterbike
1969-12-31 17:59:59
Here is another one of those oddities that we sometimes show you here at AutoblogGreen. We often write about motorcycles here, so this one seems to fit... sort of. Anyway, what we have here is a mid-eighties Yamaha Virago, one of the first of the Japanese Harley-copies that hit the scene. These are the motorcycles that initiated the term "cruiser" as opposed to just Harley... but enough history. The builder of this machine apparently couldn't decide between his two hobbies, so he combined them into one mode of transportation. I can't help but think that it is not an easy conversion between the two of them, though.Read More ...
The Toyota Auris D4-D
1969-12-31 17:59:59
The compact segment is the most competitive in the European market. Cars measuring around 4 meters are the top-sellers on this side of the pond. They usually offer good room for the price, and they also offer cargo space once the back seats are folded. This segment is dominated by local models, such as the VW Golf (the leader to beat) and the Ford Focus, to name two models which are familiar to our US readers. The engines of choice are usually diesels and although low-sulfur diesel has been sold in Europe for a long time, they still pollute with particulates which cause smog. Particulate filters just aren't widespread yet and are currently installed only in premium models, very much like the implementation of cathalysts in gasoline cars, which started in the '90s.However, this is not only a matter of European automakers. Japanese and Korean manufacturers are also in this race to get their chunk of the European market. And as a sample, here's the new Toyota Auris. The European compac ...
Chevrolet facelifts the Matiz mini-car
1969-12-31 17:59:59
When General Motors took over a controlling interest in South Korea's Daewoo Motors a few years ago, one of the vehicles they inherited was the tiny Matiz. Prior to the buyout, Daewoo had begun selling their vehicles in the European market but GM decided to rebrand the Daewoos as Chevrolets in Europe and other markets outside of Korea. For 2008, the Matiz is getting a facelift, mostly in the front and back that includes lower fascias done in matte black that helps to visually lower the car. The dimensions haven't changed, but the new scheme makes the Matiz look slightly less tall and narrow than it is. Around the end of the decade the Matiz will get replaced a newly designed car based on the platform used for the Chevy triplets at the New York Auto Show in April. Now that it looks like new fuel economy regulations will be coming our way, it seems likely that the US market will see at least one car based on one of the triplet designs. ...

PSP clockspeed upped to 333MHz after 3.50 firmware update
1969-12-31 17:59:59
Update: The availability of the PSP's full CPU speed only affects in-development titles, a SCE representative has told Shacknews. Previously released PSP games continue to operate at the speed they were originally programmed for, and do not see any sort of change in performance or battery life. Original story: A Sony Computer Entertainment representative has confirmed to Shacknews that developers can now take full advantage of the PSP's CPU following the late May release of the system's version 3.50 firmware. Rumors of the unlocking were initially reported by fansite PSP Updates via an unnamed source. Previously, developers were only able to run the CPU at 266MHz rather than its full potential clock speed of 333MHz, though most games ran at only 222MHz. High Impact Games' Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, released in February, is said to run at 266MHz. Hackers long ago discovered methods to run the PSP's CPU at full speed, the benefits of which include a smoother framerate for certai ...

Canon - PowerShot SD750
1969-12-31 17:59:59
The PowerShot SD750 and the SD1000 Digital ELPH cameras build on Canon?s original box and circle design ? now so frequently replicated by others ? while maintaining their own individual ELPH identity. The SD750 Digital ELPH design features artfully sculpted contours, evocative etched surfaces and even the option of dual-tone, silver and midnight matte black face and full-black back panel that blends seamlessly with its large and newly enhanced three-inch LCD display. Test Drive a Porsche Cell Phone
1969-12-31 17:59:59
Since 1948, the Porsche brand has been synonymous with sleek and fast. Cars, that is. Yet in 1972, the German automaker began designing luxury accessories, a lineup that now includes luggage, eyewear, watches, and ties. Now comes Porsche's boldest foray outside its comfort zone: On June 12, Porsche Design Group unveiled its first mobile phone, in France of course. And there are plans for more Porsche phones. Designed by Porsche, but engineered and manufactured by France-based Sagem, the $1,600 handset will debut in Britain, Dubai, and other overseas markets later this year. The phone is expected to reach the U.S. in early 2008, possibly through Porsche auto dealerships and the five U.S. Porsche Design stores. This is not the first time a cell phone maker has partnered with a world-renowned automotive brand. In 2003, Motorola (MOT) unveiled two Harley-Davidson (HOG) versions of its V60i phones for the U.S. market. Detailed with leather or chrome to achieve a tough Harley look, the gadg ...
Victory Shows Vision 800 Concept Bike
1969-12-31 17:59:59
Victory unveiled their striking Vision 800 concept bike Friday at the Cycle World International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach, and we were surprised to see that it is a huge departure from the tradtional, cruiser-style bikes that are the company's mainstay. The first thing that you'll notice is the styling - for good or bad, the Vision looks unlike any bike we have seen before. The organic-looking shapes seem to be something right out of a radical design school student's portfolio, and indeed they may be.If the styling is surprising, the specifications are even more so, especially considering their departure from the Victory norm. The Vision is powered by an 800cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin, and power is transferred through a fully-automatic CVT (constantly variable transmission) - the bike is devoid of both foot controls and clutch, with brake levers on both handlebars. We're not sure exactly what this bike means for Victory - it's such a huge jump outside the realm of their typi ...
