Roboquad Turned Remote Spy Robot With The Help Of Skype
2007-09-15 23:22:00
New video from long time Robots.net member “roschler” shows a Roboquad robot being controlled by voice, over the Internet with the help of Robodance and Skype’s video call service. The robot explores the house while beaming back audio and video to a laptop running only Skype. The laptop dials into the home computer which is running Robodance version 4, a free software program for making consumer robots do more then most people thought possible. This mega-hack allows you to turn your Roboquad or other WowWee robot into your own remote controlled spy, accessible from anywhere in the world via the Internet, using the simple power of your voice. This hack does not void or affect the Roboquad’s warranty in any way. Robodance version 4 is due out at the end of November 2007. Note: as of this time this system has not been tested on either an Apple IPhone or Palm Treo running Skype. As soon as this information becomes available the Robodance mailing list and web pages will be updated. ...

2007-09-14 23:05:00
Good news for those who bought the Full-Price iPhone before 22nd August. Apple announces that now they can get $100 Apple Store Credit for use online or at an Apple Retail Store. You don't need a receipt, just enter your phone number and serial number and Apple will SMS you an access code. With this access code you will get the $100 dollars to shop for anything Apple. A couple of interesting things about the program. First, the program doesn't work with iPhones that haven't been activated on AT&T. Second, is that some people are getting the free credit who have bought iPhone after 22 August.

French newspaper goes electronic
2007-09-14 06:56:00
It will receive updates every morning at 9:00 PM every evening and will cost $506/year. The newspaper changes the way you read news. It may be costly, but think of it as an environment saver. No more cutting of trees for paper, no more wastage of ink, no more waiting for the newspaper guy. The e-newspaper will be available for the iRex iLiad and the STAReBook e-reader. French only can make it a bit jealous for the rest, but then it will not take so much time for the rest of the publishers to follow the "e" trend. Now only if they could make it foldable. The last e-paper edition of the day, available at 9 o'clock in the evening will be the same edition as the printed edition of the next day. You can tell pappier counterparts how geek you are.

Set Screensaver as a Desktop Wallpaper
2007-09-14 05:11:00
And you thought that you could only set an image as desktop background. Erik can teach you how creativity mixed with Linux can let you set a Matrix wallpaper as your desktop background. There are many other ways available, but I thought this one was simplest and also geeky. You can also set movie shot as your wallpaper in windows also but that will be without the sounds. For that, you first need to capture the screen shots of the movie. You can do it in Windows Movie Maker . Open Window Media Player. Then go to Tools >> Options Select the Performance Tab Click on Advanced ButtonUncheck “Use Overlays"Click 'Ok'After that you need a software called Advanced Gif animator. Now import all those screenshots and make a Gif file out of them. There are many options available in Gif Animator, but i leave it for you to explore them. When it is done, simply set the Gif file as desktop Background. ...

Turn Windows XP PC into Mac
2007-09-13 05:53:00
The best thing about Macs is their operating system. Since their launch, I have been greatly inspired by looks of Mac OS X and wanted to convert my Windows XP PC into Mac. The elegant look of Mac is what inspires me a lot. Elements such as the genie effect for minimizing windows, the animated dock at the bottom for shortcuts, and glass-like widgets for displaying mini information panels make it a dream operating system for every geek who wants clutter free user interface. Here are some of the cool apps that will make your Windows XP PC mimic the real Mac OS X. First of all you will need Windows blinds and then download this theme. After that you will need ObjectDock, RKLauncher or MobiDock to get the shortcuts at the bottom of your desktop. You will need wallpapers, which you can download from here, or search in Google. Then comes the ‘Logon Screen’, you can find it here. If you are not familiar with changing the logon screen, you can find more info here. Some cool ‘Boot Screens ...

Use your mouse cursor as SpotLight
2007-09-07 23:42:00
If you have ever been to concerts, you know what makes you focus only on the artist and not on anybody else. Yes, you are right, its because of spotlights. Spotlights are commonly used in concerts and musical theaters to focus an audience's attention on a performer as he moves around the stage. Now if you want to make your audience focus at a particular position on your desktops, MouseLight does the same job on your Desktop. When you are doing a PowerPoint presentation or a software demonstration and want the audience to focus on some specific area of the screen, MouseLight puts a circular spotlight around your cursor and highlights that area allowing your audience to follow you - the rest of the screen outside the spotlight circle is dimmed automatically.MouseLight is available only for windows, but for Mac users their is a similar application called Mouseposé. The MouseLight costs $3 while the MousePosé costs $10.Found Via (DI) ...
