Google is Cheating me, and so it does to others
2007-12-09 22:19:00
Google is one of the most successful stories of Internet. The best search engine, captured the online advertisement market with their popular AdSense program. Some really swear by AdSense while others hate  it like anything. I am myself a big fan of Google and all the services they provide. As you may see this blog is moneytized only through Google AdSense. I was seeing a decrease in my earning from the last 2 weeks but I thought maybe people don't just click on the ads on my blog. But then I checked my blog's stats on MyBlogLog and what I observed left me shocked. It shows 199 people have clicked on the Ads yesterday and 183  have clicked on them the day before.   But the AdSense stats show that I have got only 5 clicks in the last 7 days. This can definitely not be the case of invalid clicks. If it would be, they should have banned my account by now. This keeps me thinking is Google so much hungry that they are cheating their AdSense Publishers. I have been ...

Google Opens 'Mac Developer Playground'
2007-12-08 23:15:00
Google on Tuesday launched the Google Mac Developer Playground, a Web site that houses open source code and projects from Google's Apple-oriented engineers. "We've always had a place to showcase our consumer products," said Amit Singh, a Google engineering manager, and Karen Grünberg, a Google product manager, in a blog post. "Today, we're unveiling the Google Mac Developer Playground, a Web site where the Mac community can look for new and interesting open source projects and demos from our Mac team." The site includes a variety of works-in-progress to help Mac developers and general users. Statz, for example, allows you modify your status -- away, available, etc. -- across multiple IM apps like Adium, Colloquy, iChat, and Skype. There's an Objective C Client Library for using Google's data APIs. There's MacFUSE, an add-on file system for the Mac, and iPhone Disk, an implementation of MacFUSE for reading and writing data on an iPhone. Other projects include Cover ...

Windows XP will be tested on OLPC in January
2007-12-06 22:58:00
With the advent of new technologies called Boot Camp and Parallels you can run Windows on a Mac. If that is not enough you can run Windows on Asus's low-cost laptop the Eee PC. It seems like Microsoft is looking for more and this time they are planning to bring Windows XP to the XO laptop, famed to be called One Laptop Per Child (OLPC). Microsoft released a statement yesterday announcing plans to begin testing XP on the XO in January in the hopes of making a final version available by the second half of 2008. But the only problem seems to be that XO PC has only one GB of memory while XP requires at least 2GBs to run smoothly. So Microsoft insisted that an SD card slot be included in the XO, and is developing a version of XP that will run off of a removable storage card. Some people at Eee User forum have demonstrated that you can indeed run Windows XP with less than 2GB of storage by removing the page file and using nLite to slim down your installation. But 1GB would still be pushing ...

TwinMOS introduces a Mirror-Surfaced USB flash Drive
2007-11-19 01:46:00
I’ve carried many USB drives over the last few years. My first was a very boring 128MB Memorex stick. They didn’t really make them fancy back then, it was cool enough to be carrying one at all. Like the rest of my flash drives, it was likely lost or broken. Needless to say, I’ve seen a lot of them. I’m not really sure why, but Mobile Disk P1 from TwinMOS really caught my eye. I suppose that it’s human nature to be drawn to things that are shiny. I can’t really explain it, but if you see a glint of something out of the corner of your eye, you just instinctively want to look. That’s why people are bound to notice this particular flash drive. It has a mirrored surface, and six multicolored LEDs that light up when it is plugged in. Just looking at this, you get the impression that there’s more than meets the eye. Unfortunately, the most exciting thing you’ll find is the retractable USB plug. Pricing and availability are not currently known on this product. Source: Aving ...

Singapore bans Xbox game
2007-11-15 01:57:00
Singapore has banned the sale of an Xbox video game that features an intimate scene between two female characters. The "Mass Effect" game, a futuristic space adventure, contains "a scene of lesbian intimacy... as such the game has been disallowed," the deputy director of the Board of Film Censors said in the statement. Under local guidelines, video games sold in Singapore cannot "feature exploitative or gratuitous sex and violence, or denigrate any race or religion," the official said. "Mass Effect" is to be launched globally next week. US software giant Microsoft, maker of the Xbox gaming console, said it respected the media watchdog's action. Earlier this year the city-state banned two other video games, "God of War II" for nudity and "The Darkness" for excessive violence and religiously offensive expletives, the statement said. Vivian Balakrishnan, Singapore's second minister for information, communications and the arts, ha ...
