Pac Man As A Final Tribute For Designer Toru Iwatani
2007-06-06 10:06:02
Remember when many of us used to play PacMan in front of our computers when we were younger? We move the round yellow figure around with the 4 arrow keys swallowing white pellets and fruits for extra points with deadly monsters chasing us in the maze. Toru Iwatani, the designer for this well-known game is going to retire from his duty and gives lecture to the young generation on game designs at a University in Tokyo. And as a final tribute for him, a new version of PacMan will be reborn on Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox Live online service on Wednesday, 6th of June, 2007. Click to play a pman game The new version of the iconic arcade game is a faithful interpretation of the addictive 27-year-old original, where players wrenched joystick controllers to race a character — resembling a yellow pizza missing a slice — around a digital maze to chomp white pellets and chase multicolored “ghosts.” (more…) ...

Blogging Mania Likely To End Soon
2007-06-06 06:38:32
Could blogging be near the peak of its popularity? The technology gurus at Gartner Inc. (IT) believe so. One of the research company’s top 10 predictions for 2007 is that the number of bloggers will level off in the first half of next year at roughly 100 million worldwide. The reason: Most people who would ever dabble with Web journals already have. Those who love it are committed to keeping it up, while others have gotten bored and moved on, said Daryl Plummer, chief Gartner fellow. “A lot of people have been in and out of this thing,” Plummer said. “Everyone thinks they have something to say, until they’re put on stage and asked to say it.” That’s no knock on blogging. Plummer noted that this leveling-off dynamic plays out all the time, though it often comes as a bit of a surprise when it hits things that had achieved quick popularity.Another Gartner forecast states that regulatory compliance ? a time-consuming issue in the post-Enron b ...

Online Sex Diary: Blogger Got Sued!
2007-06-05 10:49:33
Do you keep a diary? Or an online diary about your sex life? Well, stop doing that from this instant if it involves another person’s private life because you may be sued for doing so. Anybody who wants to reveal their own private life has a right to do that. It’s a different question when you reveal someone else’s private life. Keeping a sex online diary is not sitting in a nice, leather-bound book under a pillow. It’s online where a million people can view it. In Washington, when Robert Steinbuch discovered his girlfriend had discussed intimate details about their sex life in her online diary, the Capitol Hill staffer didn’t just get mad. He got a lawyer. Soon, though, the racy tidbits about the sex lives of the two Senate aides faded from the front pages and the gossip pages. Steinbuch accepted a teaching job in Arkansas, leaving Washington and Jessica Cutler’s “Washingtonienne” Web log behind. While sex scandals turn over quic ...

Do You Go Everywhere With Your Laptop?
2007-06-05 08:12:39
I do. It’s overtaking my cell phone as I can go online and message my friends for free with my laptop, instead of spending credits for doing so. Researches show that many people nowadays are taking laptops with them even on vacation so that they can stay connected wherever they are. According to a source, one in five people toted laptop computers on their most recent vacations. Along with the 80 percent who said they brought along their cell phones, the survey shows going on vacation no longer means being out of the electronic loop. Sizable numbers are interrupting their unwinding time to check in at the office and, even more so, to keep up with the social buzz About one in five said they did some work while vacationing, and about the same number checked office messages or called in to see how things were going, the poll showed. Twice as many checked their e-mail, while 50 percent kept up with other personal messages like voice mail. The credit ? or culprit, depending on ...

Blog-streaking: Revealing secrets or personal information online that for everybody’s sake would be best kept private. Crackberry: The curse of the modern executive: not being able to stop checking your BlackBerry, even at your grandmother’s funeral. Google-stalking: Defined as snooping online on old friends, colleagues or first dates. Photo-lurking: Flicking through an online photo album of someone you’ve never met. Cheesepodding: Downloading of a song “so cheesy that you could cover it in plastic wrap and sell it at the deli counter”. So, admit it. You do these stuffs every single day once you open your eyes. 2007-06-04 06:13:15
We’ve heard of smart phone, smart car and smart house, how about smart light? Smart light is an innovative form of lighting technology which can help us consume less power and simultaneously conserve electricity. Smart light is being used all around the globe in discos, pubs, cafes, casinos, hotels and even in homes. Other benefits of smart light are it has longer life span compared to conventional light bulbs and radiates no heat, uv and also contains no hazardous mercury. The technology is rooted in semiconductor-based LEDs, or light emitting diodes. Once limited to indicator lights in alarm clocks and calculators, LEDs have advanced at remarkable rates and brought digital control, or intelligence, to light. According to the Department of Energy, lighting accounts for 8% of total energy consumption and 22% of the electricity used in the United States.
