Badminton Olympics Qualifying Tournaments 2007

The Badminton world Federation uses a ranking system that will determine the official list of participant qualifiers for the Beijing 2008 Olympics badminton competitions. The maximum number of players per NOC shall be three entries in each of the five events, provided eachentry is qualified. The ranking and qualifying period for the Olympics competition will be from May 1, 2007 to April 30, 2008. Within that period, sanctioned badminton competitions will be used to determine the rankings. Team USA Gets Olympic Berth For 2008 Olympics Women's Basketball Competition

Team USA Women Basketball never gave Cuba a chance in this championship game in Valdivia, Chile. The made sure they will get the one and only ticket to the 2008 Olympics in this tournament by winning the Championship of the FIBA Americas Championship for Women. In contrast to their first game with the Cubans in this tournament, the game was never even close almost not exciting and ended up with a landslide score of 101-71 in favor of the American women. Top scorers for the U.S. Basketball team were Tina Thompson with 18 points while Diana Taurasi and Katherine Smith scored 15 each. Some Taekwondo jins have sealed their entry to the 2008 Beijing Olympics Taekwondo competition by placing within the top 3 of their weight divisions.The most successful of the country participants in the tournament is Korea having qualified 4 taekwondo jins to the 2008 Olympics! Mu Yen Chu of Chinese Taipei, Son Tae Jin of Korea and Gwladys Epangue of France all thriumphed in each of their own weight categories to highlight the second day of qualifications for the 2008 Beijing Olympics in this great city of Manchester. Korea is the biggest gainer for this 2007 Taekewondo event because of 3 jins that got Olympic berths for the 2008 Olympic Taekwondo competition in Beijing. Taiwan or the Chinese Taipei made 2 Olympic qualifiers in the person of Mu Yen Chu and Shu Chun Yang. Mark Lopez of the US edge out of Taekwondo Olympic Qualifiers

On the second day of the 2007 Taekwondo competitions in Manchester England, Mark Lopez of the highly regarded Lopez's siblings of Sugarland Texas lost to Korean Son Tae Jin in Overtime and thus failing to qualify for the Olympics in this try. Mark gets another shot at qualifying for the 2008 Beijing Olympics at the Pan-Am Olympics Qualifier in December 2007 which is in Cali Colombia.
