Olympic Blogger athletes will be Banned in China?
2007-08-25 18:29:00
Anybody remember how the athletes were banned from blogging about their exploits during the 2004 Olympics in Greece? The Olympic Blogger in the Athletes may have still have to be cuffed still for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Looks like the I.O.C is going to make the same policy for the Beijing 2008 Olympics. Why? Because internet media is big business next only to T.V. The I.O.C is selling T.V. & internet rights through bidding. The I.O.C has recently completed the deal with a Hong Kong-based media company for sole broadcast rights in Hong Kong only. Sadly, I would have to say the Olympics is also Economics. Organizers will need to recover staging expenses to keep the games running for future generations to see. The I.O.C. says the athletes & other participants are prohibited from doing so in order to protect the interests of broadcast rights-holders and accredited media & keep themselves focused being athletes not as journalists.Athletes will be banned from posting anything that rel ...
China 2008 - What the Future holds for the Chinese
2007-08-24 12:27:00
Shanghai Downtown, ChinaThe Beijing 2008 Olympics should make it a banner year for China in 2008! The Chinese should also expect a prosperous few years even after the olympics has ended. But in China 2008, what will the Beijing Chinese do to make everything seamless for the Beijing 2008 Olympics? What about security and terrorism? Is their Tourism & Hospitality industry ready for the influx of Beijing Visitors? Approximately in the millions just before the Olympics starts. What about telecommunications? Are there systems able to handle the volume once the olympics starts? Are their systems going to be compatible? Or do they even care? Here's a few news items I've gathered around the net to show you what plans China has for 2008 and everything related to the Beijing 2008 Olympics.Construction Outlook for China to 2008Construction expenditures in China will increase 11.2 percent annually through 2008, driven by sustained foreign investment, additional economic reforms and healthy demand ...
Beijing 2008 Olympics Preview and Trends
2007-08-24 04:19:00
Olympic Gold Medal Tallies 2000-2004Here's my very own Olympics Preview! The chart above represents the gold medal tallies and performances of the 5 favorites for the Beijing 2008 Olympics. As you may notice, trends are very different for each country. Noticeably, The U.S. has not been on the uptrend for the past 3 Olympic games. While China and Japan seem to be the new emerging powerhouses of the Olympic games. With the "home-town advantage" on their side next year, China, without a doubt has a lot on their shoulders. Specifically it's athletes who have all sorts of pressure to perform due to the fact that they are doing it for the country's pride and ofcourse because of the amount of practice and training they have put into their chosen sports.Basing my predictions on the chart above, China, with a very uptrend will be a force to contend with. It's not going to be easy to predict how many golds they will haul next year because of the fact that they have home-town advantage. Japan, ...
Olympics Blog - Why is it Smart to Blog about it?
2007-08-23 20:47:00
Making a little search on Beijing Olympics Blogs in Google, I found out that there are a few blogs out there trying to capture the big if not humongous internet traffic that the Beijing 2008 Olympics will generate next year.Right now I'm seeing that there's minimal traffic coming from Google about regarding the Olympics. Most searches about how to travel, tickets and schedules. These will probably be the biggest searches as the Beijing 2008 Olympics draws closer. Currently, about 15% of the traffic for this blog comes from Google. A total of 20% if I consider all of the traffic from different search engines. Notably, the Google searches comes from the U.S., Australia and U.K. with some sporadic clicks from Europe and Asia. What I'd really like to capture is the Chinese market. There's at least 1 billion people in China and I would not be surprised if at least 1% of that 1 billion are internet users looking for information about the Beijing 2008 Olympics next year. 1% of 1 billion is ...

The 2008 Beijing Olympic MedalsHere's some nice trivia, most might not probably know about.Olympic Medals Fast Facts:1. Since 1928, The same design has always been seen in the Olympic medals. It featured a Greek goddess, the Olympic Rings, the coliseum of ancient Athens, a Greek vase known as an amphora, a horse-drawn chariot, and the year, number of the Olympiad, and host city. For the 2008 Beijing Olympics medals, it will be the first time that jade will be incorporated in the medal itself.2. In the first ever modern Olympics in the 1800's, the sport champions got silver medals instead of Gold. Gold metal was considered inferior to silver. The designer's rendition of the complete Olympic BMX venue. The 2008 Olympics will be the first time BMX or ( Bike Moto Crossing ) will be featured. And a lot of people are hoping this will not be the last. China has invested a lot financially for this sport to be featured without any guaranteed medal placings. BMX sport is not exactly China's forte. Yet the Venue has already been designed, constructed and delivered. See the pictures below for the different stages of the Olympic BMX venue. The dirt trackSome Chinese Construction workersSome Chinese workers walking around the elevated tracksHere's the other stories around the net about the Olympics BMX event for 2008:2008 BMX Olympics InformationUCI Officials Tour 2008 Olympic BMX Venue SiteOlympic BMX Start Positions in Beijing 2008 ...
2008 Olympics Ceremony
2007-08-22 10:36:00
The Main Sports Stadium dubbed "The Bird's Nest"It seems to me nobody has been interested in searching for any information regarding the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The tickets are almost sold out and the ones for the opening ceremony is the most expensive. I doubt if there's any being sold until now. If you're planning to buy some from brokers, be ready to shell out some major dough because even if you bought opening ceremony tickets from legit or authorized agents, it still costs several hundred dollars. Add a few percent over that amount, that's what you will be paying from ticket brokers. The opening ceremony should be an elaborate display of Chinese talents and ingenuity. There should be a lot of fireworks which the Chinese are well-known for making. The organizers are looking to integrate the opening ceremony with the Stadium's design. I couldn't imagine what they'll come up with. Above is an artist's rendition of the National Stadium or the bird's nes ...
Beijing Olympics Emap - A Look at China ( Google Earth )
2007-08-21 17:52:00
For the curious Olympic fans who want to see what the Beijing Olympics surroundings are, here's a few maps to enjoy. These map views are in different time of the construction of the Beijing Olympic Venues. You may notice that the pictures have been taken while China was busy constructing the buildings. Unfortunately even the snapshot of Google Earth for the Beijing Olympics is not updated. Most probably taken in 2006. For the hell-bent on attending the Olympic events live. I'd suggest you buy an Beijing tour map once you get to land on Beijing. Here's the Google Map of the Olympic Stadium ( Bird's nest )Here's the Wikimapia.org screenshot of beijing:Here's the map from the Official Website of the 2008 Beijing Olympics:It doesn't hurt to bring a small pocket book of Chinese-English Translation as you may expect little English proficiency from the Beijing locals. ...

The 2008 Beijing Olympics Medals look cool
2007-08-20 14:11:00
For their love of Jade, the Chinese have incorporated it to the 2008 Beijing Olympics medals. Long have been the Chinese people's fascination with the semi-precious stone, it dates back to several thousands of years ago. This would be the first time that Jade will be part of the actual medal whether gold, silver or bronze. To the Chinese, the medals embodies nobility, virtue, ethics & honor. Making an appearance on the front side is the winged goddess of victory Nike and Panathinaikos Arena while the other side is a plain symbol of the IOC a requirement for the medal to be honored as official. The 2008 Olympics Medals are simple yet elegant. No flashy glimmer shine, no other fancy precious metals in it. Making this a true Olympic legacy for China & also embodies strong Chinese style and elegant art & are a excellent combination of the Chinese culture with the modern Olympics.Compare the 2008 Beijing Olympics Medals to the previous ones. The Athens Olympic MedalsThe Torino Olympic Me ...
The Good News-Bad News On The 2008 Beijing Olympics
2007-08-19 20:50:00
Here's some of the updates crawling around the web about next year's Beijing Olympics. The main Good News is human rights activists are losing their fight to encourage more in boycotting the Olympics. The bad news is human rights activists are losing their fight to encourage more in boycotting the Olympics. Hahaha...Kidding aside, with the amount of publicity the 2008 Beijing Olympics gets, it is blogging about it only gets better. In any case, I think many of the past Olympic events had their own share of controversies. I think next year's Olympics is no different. The Good News:Testing the course for the 2008 Olympic road race--The 2008 Summer Olympics are only a year away, and cyclists raced on the bike course Saturday to test the conditions. Bosisio Gabriele of Italy won the 2007 Good Luck Beijing International Road Cycling Tournament in Beijing. The 108-mile course follows the same route that cyclists will take in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. However, the course will be ...
Get Tickets For The Olympics
2007-08-18 23:44:00
This early tickets are hard to come by for the beijing olympics. China has made ticket prices affordable considering the amount of money they poured in to prepare everything from the environment to the last piece of clothing volunteers will be wearing for the event.People looking for tickets may not be surprised of the fact there are only a certain number of tickets allocated per country. Those are sold out already if you're planning to buy directly. eBay may be a far option as tickets are not released until July 2008. Maybe by that time, tickets prices will be available but outrageously expensive. So what are the options? Ticket brokers. They're not exactly cheap but if you want a guarantee in terms of ticket availability & specific events these are the ones for you:The 2008 Summer Game, officially known as the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, will be held in Beijing, China from August 8, 2008 to August 24, 2008, with the opening ceremony to take place at 8 p.m. on August 8, 2008 (08-08- ...
