Beijing 2008 Olympics - Visa & Passport Information
2007-09-06 08:53:00
All foreigners need an entry visa. If part of a group, the tour operator will often obtain your visa for you; group visas will usually be issued for groups with at least 10 members, and the guide accompanying your group will keep the visas. Individual travelers can apply at any Chinese embassy. The procedure is usually straightforward and takes about a week. If your visa runs out while in China, it can be extended by the local Public Security Bureau, the police. However, make sure you visit them before it expires, because you will be fined for overstaying your visa. A valid passport is required to enter China. China does not allow entrance if the holder's passport expires in under six months; returning home with an expired passport is illegal, and may result in a fine. It is a good idea to photocopy the page of your passport that contains your photograph, passport number, and other identifying information, along with other important documents such as visas, travel insurance policies, ...

Just days before the September 13 deadline for submission of entries. The Prague of Czech Republic has joined a strong line-up of Cities bidding to host the 2016 Summer Olympics. The logo consists of green numbers in the year 2016 shaped like a laurel branch as a symbol of victory. If successful, it will be the first time The Prague's first time to host the Summer Olympics after their unsuccessful bid in 1924 which Paris won.Though Prague has entered the Olympics hosting race, Officials say The Prague's bid has a very slim chance given that London will be hosting the 2012 Summer Olympics & it would be highly unlikely that the IOC will have 2 European cities will host the Olympic Games consecutively. Instead, they are hoping it will strengthen their bid for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games.OlympicsSports ...

I peeked in the conversation & found that there's a lot of people wanting to visit China in their lifetime. I thought to myself... Hmm... Richard Gere against the Beijing 2008 Olympics
2007-09-03 06:13:00
Here's probably the biggest & most recognizable face encouraging a boycott of the Olympics. Richard Gere, a staunch supporter of Tibet & devote Buddhist, recently commented on one ambush interview that "A general boycott to me certainly has value; it's probably impractical, but emotionally absolutely makes sense". Gere went on saying he thinks China should let Tibet decide it's future. Mr. Gere has been on the watchlist on China immigration & has been banned from entering China because of statements like this. For an avid Olympics supporter like myself, I think Mr. Gere is biased & uninformed about the Olympics' purpose. The Beijing 2008 Olympics is about sports & not about politics. He's just another jumping on the hopeless bandwagon of boycott the Olympics bit. Of all the comments Mr. Gere only one phrase makes sense. That is when he said - "...it's probably impractical" Darn right it is... No way he's going to make any difference. The 2008 Olympics in Beijing will ...
