The Swedish Women's Soccer team fails to win a quarterfinals seat with the win against N.Korea
2007-09-18 12:00:00
Needing to win this match against the tough North Korean Soccer Team, the Swedes came up short of 2 goals to gain the quarterfinals seat which should have been against Germany. Instead their rival for the game, by virtue of a more superior score quotient, arranged that quarterfinals match against the Germans for themselves on Saturday. Two goals by Swedish player Charlotta Schelin won the game for the Swedes but the lone goal for North Korea by player Ri Un-Suk gave them enough to move on to the next round which will be a knock-out match against the German women's soccer team.Click here for the complete details of the match between Sweden and North KoreaOlympics Qualifiers Women's Soccer ...

2007-09-17 01:13:00
Faced with a very improved Lithuanian Basketball team, Russia had to rally behind Andrei Kirilenko's 29 points to secure a finals seat against defending champions, hosts & 2008 Olympics qualifier Team Spain. The game was virtually a duel between Andrei Kirilenko & Lithuania's Ramunas Siskauskas. Both men scoring heavily for their own team. The Russian Basketball team not only gained a finals seat in the Eurobasket 2007 tournament but their win also secured a ticket to the 2008 Olympics basketball tournament. U.S. & England's Women's Soccer Teams Up for crucial games
2007-09-16 23:38:00
The English women's soccer team are wary and they know better than to take the Argentina women's soccer team lightly. Today's match between the the English & Argentinian women will be important for Team England at least because of certain conditions for qualifying for the next level of matches for the FIFA Women's world cup 2007 in China. They need to win it by 2 goals today against the Argentinian soccer players to automatically move on to the next round. If they only win it by 1 goal, it takes them to a more difficult situation of being dragged into a waiting game and worse be really dragged deeper into a judging process. The same holds true for Japan. Argentina on the other hand, is on the other end of the deal. They are all but eliminated from the competition with previous losses here in the FIFA Women's world cup.The Americans will also be fighting for outright entry & the top spot of Group B of the competition. They are up against an improving Nigerian women's socce ...

Crucial game for Germany & Japan's women soccer teams
2007-09-16 03:01:00
The defending champion Germany Women's Soccer team & Olympics hopeful Japan's Women's Soccer team will headed for an important game for each of their teams tomorrow. Team Germany will be gunning for a quarterfinal seat while Japan is in a more difficult situation. Team Japan needs to score one goal & then hope that Team Argentina keeps it close and win or doesn't lose to Team England by more than one goal. The match is slated tomorrow 8PM in Hangzhou, China. Germany will be missing the services of midfielder Simone Laudehr because she picked up 2 yellow cards in as many matches. History does not smile very well for Japan so far. They have yet to beat the German Women's Soccer Team recently. But both sides are optimistic & have put up brave words for themselves.Click here for the full story on Germany vs. Japan previewHere's Germany Women's Soccer team roster: Nadine ANGERER, Kerstin STEGEMANN, Saskia BARTUSIAK, Babett PETER, Annike KRAHN Linda BRESONIK, Melanie BEHRI ...

2007-09-15 12:49:00
With the Australians holding off Norway 1-1 & Team Brazil blanked the Chinese women's soccer team 4-0, I would have to say the favorites had their day today. In the second match for the day, the Norwegians were cruising along with a one goal lead against the Matildas but late heroics of Striker Lisa De Vanna that evened up the score for both teams. It was a heart-breaker for the Norwegian women's soccer team as they were hoping to secure v spot at the quarterfinals with the possible win but Collette McCallum, Lisa De Vanna and Player of the match Heather Garriock all created a team effort to salvage a draw. Here the Australian Women's Soccer Team roster: Melissa BARBIERI, Kate MC SHEA, Alicia FERGUSON, Dianne ALAGICH, Cheryl SALISBURY, Rhian DAVIES, Heather GARRIOCK, Caitlin MUNOZ, Sarah WALSH, Joanne PETERS, Lisa DE VANNA, Kathryn GILL, Thea SLATYER, Collette MC CALLUM, Sally SHIPARD, Lauren COLTHORPE, Danielle SMALL, Lydia WILLIAMS, Clare POLKINGHORNE, Joanne BURGESS, Emma WIR ...
