2007 AFC East Predictions
2007-07-23 20:26:00
1. New England Patriots 2. New York Jets 3. Miami Dolphins 4. Buffalo Bills New England Patriots - 2007 Record 13-3 I have the New England Patriots winning the AFC East for the 2007 NFL season with their only road losses coming at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys on October.14 and Indianapolis on November.4. I only have the Patriots losing 1 game at home this season to the San Diego Chargers on September.16. The Patriots who had one of the worst WR corps in the league might have the best this season with some key additions. Some key additions to the Patriots team are WR Randy Moss, WR Wes Walker, WR Donte Stallworth on offense and OLB Adalius Thomas on defense. Some key losses for the Patriots include RB Corey Dillion and LB Junior Seau. New York Jets - 2007 Record 11-5 or 10-6 I have the New York Jets finishing second in the AFC East for the 2007 season with their only road losses coming at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens on September.16, Cincinnati Bengals on October.21, Dallas Cowb ...
Super Bowl Preview
2007-07-23 20:24:29
It’s been a while since we’ve seen the Steelers in a Super Bowl (10 years). And we’ve never seen the Seahawks in the big game. Both teams have two weeks to prepare and come off relatively easy wins in the Championship games. This game is at a neutral site indoors (Detroit), but does anything stand out as far as how these teams fared on the road this season? The Steelers are playing their best football at the right time of the year, riding a 7-0 SU, 6-1 ATS run the last 7 games. Most impressive is that they were the No. 6 seed in the AFC and come off wins against the Bengals, Colts and Broncos – all on the road! That makes Pittsburgh 8-2 SU/ATS on the road this season! Seattle is only 5-3 SU, 4-4 ATS on the road, although they did average an impressive 27 ppg away from home. Edge to the Steelers. Philosophically, both teams are similar. Coaches Bill Cowher and Mike Holmgren are veteran coaches who’ve taken their teams to the Super Bowl before. Holmgren makes his third trip, wi ...
Ben Roethlisberger
2007-07-23 20:22:55
The Pittsburgh Steelers found a real gem when they drafted AFL quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger. Nicknamed “Big Ben,” this Ohio native led the Steelers to the Super Bowl during his second year in the league. An interest in sports during his high school years perhaps led to Roethlisberger’s success. As captain of the football, basketball and baseball teams, this star in the making finally landed his spot as the quarterback of his high school football team during his senior year. It appears as if that practice paid off - literally. In 2004, when Ben Roethlisberger found his way into the NFL Draft, the Steelers signed him to a six year contract with an impressive signing bonus. During his rookie season, Roethlisberger succeeded with a 13-0 record for the best start by a rookie. In October 2005, just one year after he was selected in the draft, Ben Roethlisberger became the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year as named by the Associated Press. During his rookie season, passing records wer ...

2007-07-23 20:20:20
On February 3, 2008, American football fans all over the globe are going to be treated to one of the most amazing Super Bowl game locations EVER! Arizona has it all, from great weather and dry air to outstanding transportation infrastructure, and having the game in Phoenix is flat out brilliant! The rare departure from Florida shows just how impressive the new U of Phoenix stadium really is! What about the stadium? The University of Phoenix Stadium is the most modern technology anywhere! Seating 73,000 people safely, the dome can be closed off during inclimate weather, or opened wide to allow the warmth of the sun to fill the stadium. The turf? Astro-NOTHING! There’s real grass on the field! It remains outdoors til the day of the game, then gets rolled up and brought in – all 18.9-million-pounds of it! Completed in 2006, at a cost of nearly half a billion dollars, this stadium promises to provide the very best football facilities for a Super Bowl in the history of the game! Who ...
The Upcoming 2006 NFL Football Season
2007-07-23 20:17:13
The 2005 NFL football season passed with new all time records being set, with everything from Shaun Alexander’s record breaking 28 touchdowns in one season to Nathan Vasher’s longest return of a missed field goal at an incredible 108 yards (also the longest play of any kind in NFL history) to the Seattle Seahawks amazing regular season performance and loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XL. Super Bowl XL was the 40th Super Bowl. The game was played on February 5, 2006 at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, following the regular football season of 2005. The American Football Conference (AFC) champions, the Pittsburgh Steelers, defeated the National Football Conference (NFC) champions, the Seattle Seahawks, 21–10. Although the Seahawks won the turnover battle, 2-1, and outgained the Steelers by 57 yards, Pittsburgh won on the strength of three big plays converted for touchdowns. The Seahawks were plagued by controversial penalties, dropped balls, poor clock managemen ...
The Steelers Answer Their Critics And Then Some!
2007-07-23 20:15:14
The Steelers offense was horrible for a month, and Ben Roethlisberger looked like he might still be suffering from his motorcycle accident and appendix surgery. There were a lot of questions and speculations about the performance of the team. Questions like: What happened since Super Bowl XL? Who are these guys in the “black and gold”? Did losing Jerome Bettis, Antwaan Randle El and Kimo Van Olhoffen destroy a Super Bowl championship team? Is Ben Roethlisberger OK after his accident and surgeries? Is Hines Ward recovered enough from his hamstring injury to be an effective receiiver? Is the defense as dominant as they were a year ago? Is Bill Cowher going to stay if the team doesn’t make the playoffs.? Can the Steelers turn their season around and make the playoffs? These were just a few of the questions coming from disappointed Pittsburgh Steelers fans that watched the defending Super Bowl champs start the first month of the 2006 NFL season at 1-3. The Pittsburgh fait ...
2006 Pittsburgh Steelers Preview
2007-07-23 20:13:40
You gotta beat the champs to be the champs. Pittsburgh has had a checkered offseason since hauling in the organization’s fifth Super Bowl Trophy last February in Detroit. In a sense, it was as if as soon as they slid on that ring for the thumb they got mugged. By a 62-year-old lady. We all know about Roethlisberger by now so I won’t rehash it. But what I took away from that occurrence was that the air of invincibility that generally lingers around the defending Super Bowl champions was already gone from Pittsburgh. Of course, that may all change next Thursday when they host the upstart Miami Dolphins in the season opener. However, they are 0-3 thus far in the preseason. The Steelers didn’t lose that many players from their 2005 title team. But each loss was critical in its own way. Jerome Bettis was the heart of that team, and a potent short-yardage weapon. Antwaan Randle El was an electric kick returner and big-play threat. Chris Hope and Willie Williams were key con ...
Bill Cowher has left the building
2007-04-09 22:53:50
On January 5th 2007, Coach Cowher resigned after 15 years as the head coach of the Steelers.  I grew up with Chuck Noll as the head coach of the Steelers and I can remember being distraught when he left the game back in 1992.  I thought Chuck Noll would coach the Steelers until he left this world and I hated the thought of someone else replacing him.  It did not take me long to become a big fan of Bill Cowher and his coaching style.  The first thing that I noticed about Cowher was the fire and passion that was evident during games.  I would get motivated and fired up by watching Cowher’s behavior and facial expressions.  One of Cowher’s gifts was motivating his players but he also motivated the hordes of Steeler fans around the country who watched him each week on tv.  As the years went by I got into the same comfort level with Cowher that I had with Noll.  Cowher was the face of the Steelers and I knew that he would be our coach for 25-30 years.  Players came an ...
