Wow, Ben and Matt both looked pretty frustrated/mad in the opening drives. But Matt got to stay frustrated. Ben and Co. found whatever groove they needed and it was so nice. Not perfect, we had our share of penalties, two that sent back some awesome Davenport yardage, but we (I say “we”…like I had anything to do with it) pulled it together and got the job done.
Everyone is so impressed with our “back up guys”, and yes, they were awesome…isn’t that what they’re supposed to do? Isn’t that what they’re being paid for? I guess I can appreciate how lucky(?) we are to have a well-rounded team. Like Tomlin has been emphasizing, anybody that has a helmet on, should be able to help accomplish the goals.
I said I didn’t pay attention to Fanasty league stuff, probably because I don’t really understand it. If someone could explain this, please? NFL Network’s bottom news line-thing had a fantasy ...

I wasn’t scared.
2007-10-08 10:02:48
I wasn’t scared because I had read the headlines…who has time to read the whole article anyway?…and it said that the injuries weren’t bad and Troy, Casey and Ward would be playing. So it was going to be ok. It was going to be OK! But when I turned on the game and saw that they were in street clothes I had to seek some shelter from the cruel world of the NFL injury monger…a short trip to Whole Foods. On the way it was announced that Santonio was out. A warm up hamstring pull? Isn’t that what warm ups are about to avoid those types of injuries? Who pulls a hammy in 85 degree weather in warm ups? This wasn’t fair, 4 of our top play makers were out and there was only one thing to do. Get sushi.
I needed some comfort food and there was no time for sausage. Last week’s performance was just so BLAH…blab blab blah…I got settled in front of the TV just as we scored our first of three TDs. Sushi in hand I felt much better about the game and thoroughly enjoy ...

Steelers Blank Seahawks
2007-10-08 07:42:19
Talk about a rebound victory. The Steelers avenged last weeks’ loss by defeating the Seahawks 21 – zip in week 5. Even with several key players out of the lineup, Pittsburgh was still able to dominate Seattle. Pittsburgh looked invincible again at times in this game.
The Steelers went into this game banged up. Hines Ward, Casey Hampton, and That Guy with Long Hair all sat this one out. To matters even worse, Santonio Holmes suffered a hamstring injury in pre game warm-ups and was forced to become a spectator as well. But in the end it didn’t even matter.
The Steelers struggled to get anything going early in this game. However once they got a little bit of momentum they never looked back.
Ben Roethlisberger redeemed himself and then some from last weeks’ loss to Arizona. Ben was bullseye accurate completing 82% of his passes against Seattle. He finished the day 18 of 22 for 206 yards with a touchdown and zero picks. At one point in the game Roethlisberger com ...

Surprise Surprise Surprise
2007-10-07 17:47:39
Gomer couldn’t have said it better. I’m stunned that the Steelers won so convincingly today give the number of key starters that were out. They got off to what I think was a rocky start. I figured, “here we go again”, but they managed to snap out of whatever slump they were in and totally dominate the Seahawks. The pass to Miller in the first half was a thing of beauty. The timing between Ben and Heath is better than that between Lucy and Desi. What a duo! And how about Najeh Davenport? I’m beginning to believe that this team is definitely something special.
Now I’m waiting to see how the Chickenhawks complain about this loss. They have only themselves to blame. They can’t complain about the officiating, not when they challenged a Steelers touchdown and it was reversed. In all fairness, I didn’t think he was in when I saw the play. The re-plays only confirmed it. I’d have been shocked if Mike Holmgren hadn’t challenged the ca ...

Risk vs Reward - Week 5
2007-10-06 12:24:51
After a bounce back weekend in week 3, I fell flat on week 4.
If you started Alex Smith you probably were feeling the same amount of pain he was. It wasn’t Curry that shined for Oakland, but Jerry Porter, strike 2. And Reuben Droughns had something like 4 carries for 8 yards or something or another….. not good.
Let’s take a look at this week’s picks.
Ron Dayne - RB Houston Texans
Ok, here’s the skinny. The Texans are going up against one of the worst rush defenses in the NFL. The Dolphins are giving up 200 yards a game rushing on average and it should be the same this week. Dayne is expected to start for an injured Ahman Green. Even if Green can play on Sunday, he will lose carries to Dayne. This is a perfect scenario to start a back-up RB and still look to get the majority of the touches. If your thin at RB, pick up Dayne and start him for this week.
Lee Evans - WR Buffalo Bills
Anyone who drafted Evans with high expectations this year, like I did, has s ...

Cardinals Soar Over Steelers in Week 4
2007-10-01 15:39:43
The Arizona Cardinals put the first blemish on the Pittsburgh Steelers 2007 record handing them a 21-14 loss. Prior to this game the Steelers had only been behind on the scoreboard for 18 seconds this season. This time they were behind when the clock read :00 at the end of the fourth quarter. For the first time in 2007, The Steelers showed signs of vulnerability. This game could have gone either way, but a couple of big plays turned out to be the difference as the Cardinals prevailed in week 4.
Believe it or not Willie Parker was shut down by the Cardinals defense. Not Slow Willie rushed for only 37 yards on 19 carries; ending his streak of consecutive 100 yard games at four. To be fair, Parker didn’t have much to work with all game. The Cardinals dominated the line of scrimmage on defense.
Roethlisberger also felt the pressure of Arizona’s D. Big Ben was sacked four times on Sunday. Ben had been sacked only four times all season prior to Sunday. He finished the game 17 o ...

Thank you, Mr. Obvious!
2007-10-01 15:08:12
Did anyone watch the Sunday night Eagles/Giants game?
Did you hear this wonderful tidbit from the always on top of things John Madden? I forget exactly when, but the score had been Eagles 0 - Giant 7 for a while. Eli “Baby” Manning (I call him ‘baby’ because that’s what he is, the baby of the family, the youngest of the brothers) and his offense were doing their thing when Madden, genius that he is, says That the Giants needed to get a score out of their drive because “if the Eagles got one touchdown, they would be tied”. He really said it like it was a big hidden secret that only he knew about…and was proclaiming it proudly.
Nu-uh…you don’t say?! Really? Thank you for that bit of wisdom! I wasn’t aware that 7 and 7 are the same!?!

How ’bout them Stillers?
2007-10-01 10:19:55
Ok. Let me start by saying, I’m not a stat’s person. I don’t really pay too much attention to those numbers or the fantasy side of the world. I can pretty much guarantee very little/no stat-type numbers coming from me. Right now, the only one i’m giving any attention to is Ben’s interception total, which was increased to 3, not too much of a worry yet, right? I’m a pretty big Ben Roethlisberger fan. I’m an active poster on his forum (www.bigben7.com/forum Check it out. We have interesting conversations and a pretty good time.) I will say that my favorite Ben stat is his March 2nd birthday (cuz it’s my birthday, too!)
I wrote down some random notes/thoughts during the game. I usually watch the games from home, but decided to go out. I’m sure I looked quite the dork sitting there with my paper and pen scribbling things, but I don’t really care.
Here we go:
Ok, Browns-Ravens. I was kinda glad the Rave ...
