Gators Blow A 10 Point Lead & Lose To LSU 28-24
2007-10-12 14:11:19
8:00 PM ET, October 6, 2007 Tiger Stadium, Baton Rouge, LA The 9th ranked Gators traveled to Baton Rouge to take on the nations top ranked team after being upset the previous week by Auburn. A record crowd of 92,910 was on hand to witness what was to be a a wild and exciting game. The Gators got the ball at the start of the game and orchastrated a nice 10 play, 47 yard drive that culminated in a Joey Ijjas 31 yard field goal. The best play of the drive was Kestahn Moore’s rush for 15 yards to the LSU 19 for a 1st down. Gator fans could not have asked for a better start to the game than a 3 point lead to silence the crowd a bit. On the 3rd play of LSU’s opening drive, Matt Flynn’s pass was intercepted by Joe Haden at the Fla 45, and returned for 10 yards to the LSU 45. Things were looking really good for the Gators after scoring on their opening drive ...

Gators Lose To Auburn Again! Auburn 20 Florida 17
2007-10-04 22:50:05
The 90,685 Gator fans at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium hoped they were having a collective nightmare and they would wake up and find that their beloved Gators were not going to lose to Auburn for the 2nd straight year. The tone of the game was set on Auburn’s opening drive when Florida was called for running into the kicker penalty that kept Auburn’s drive alive. That penalty seemed to knock the wind out of the Gator defense who allowed the Auburn to march down the field and score on a 6-yard Kodi Burn’s run. If we don’t run into the Auburn kicker, we get the ball and probably drive down and score which would have set the tempo the way we are used to. During the 1st half the Gators were awful on defense and the offense was non-existant. Where was the Gator team that performed like a well-oiled machine the previous 4-weeks? How do we go in at halftime losing to Auburn 14-0? Are we not the #4 ranked team in the nation and the defending champions? By halftime, t ...
Rebels give Gator Nation a Scare
2007-09-23 22:36:16
This week the Gators learned first hand why the SEC is regarded as the toughest conference in the country.  It seemed everybody, including myself, thought this would be a relatively easy game for us.  Coach Meyer knew better.  He knew that anytime you go on the road in this conference you are in for a battle.  The Ole Miss Rebels definitely were up for the fight.   In our first road game of the year, the Gators managed to squeeze by Ole Miss with a final score of 30-24.  The Rebels came out strong and were able to hold us scoreless in the 1st quarter.  Their defense was all over us for much of the first half.  They must have done some good preparation this week because they had us scouted pretty well.  For the first time all year the offense wasn’t able to execute at will.  Even though we managed to end the first half leading 14-6, the Rebels were feeling pretty good about the way they were playing.  And who could blame them? We bounced back in the second half though, ...
Hotty Toddy??? Am I even spelling this right??
2007-09-19 00:09:03
37/married/straight/male with an incredibly juvenile mind coupled with some creativity. On line looking for fun! This is the beginning of our little Gator animated comic strip.  With some help, we can come up with a name for this ‘comic strip’ and some material for future animations.  This is Col. Reb, and I believe he is takeing it up the Toddy from Sir Albert!  a href=”http://photobucket.com” target=”_blank”> ...
Statement made against Tennessee
2007-09-17 00:11:54
Let me begin by recalling my favorite moment from this Saturday’s game.  With the 4th quarter winding down and the Gators putting the game completely out of reach, Tony Joiner walked up to Tim Tebow and gave him a kiss on the neck.  My first reaction was to turn to my friend and raise an eyebrow, which he promptly returned.  Was it strange that Joiner would go up to another guy on the sidelines and lay a wet one on his neck?  Initially I thought…….well, yes.  Then I thought about it some more.  When asked about the kiss after the game, Joiner said, “I love Tim Tebow.”  Suddenly it made perfect sense.  After dominating in his first career SEC start how could any Gator fan not love this guy enough to want to kiss him.  Tebow again led the Gators to a victory, this one a 59-20 win over rival Tennessee.  He threw for 299 yards and 2 touchdowns.  It was the kind of win that sends a message to the rest of the SEC, the Gators are still really r ...
The Fall of Troy
2007-09-11 18:04:41
Tim Tebow played the part of Achilles as the Gators improved to 2-0 after defeating the Troy Trojans this past Saturday in Gainesville. The Gators had a pretty amazing first half. They scored on all seven of their 1st half possessions and brought the score to 49-7 as they went into the tunnel. It was quite the impressive performance. The Gators were up so big they almost didn’t know what to do with themselves. I was given a little scare though when the Trojans came out strong in the 3rd quarter. They outscored the Gators 17-0 bringing the score to 49-24. As I warned last week, the Trojans pack more of a punch then a lot of people think. They played Arkansas tough last week and almost stole a win from FSU last year. You have to respect the Trojans philosophy to improve. They are a small school, yet they schedule games against some of the best football schools in the nation. If you want to be up there with the big boys then you have to play with the big boys. Omar Haugabook played the ...
Gators play as advertised against W. Kentucky
2007-09-04 12:08:46
Pulling all the chairs in the house in front of the big screen, tapping the keg, the burgers sizzling on the grill, setting up the beer pong table…..ahh the sights and sounds of another Gator football season.   College football is back.  It never fails to bring a smile to my face.  The Gators kicked off their 2007 schedule against Western Kentucky in the Swamp this past Saturday.  University Avenue came to life for the first time since January.  Everything pretty much went according to plan with the Gators coming away with a 49-3 victory in a weather-shortened game.  Overall, I was really happy with the way the team played. The offense was definitely on point.  In his first career start quarterback Tim Tebow showed just how well he can throw the ball.  He threw for 300 yards and 3 touchdowns in just about the most economic way possible going 13-17.  Sophomore wide receiver Riley Cooper had a breakout game catching for 122 yards including 2 touchdowns.  Andre Caldwell ...
Turning the page
2007-09-04 11:15:07
As great as the last 8 months of bragging about our national championship title have been, the time has finally come to move on. That’s right Titletown, it is time to turn the page on the days of Chris Leak and Reggie Nelson and usher in a new era of Gator football. Don’t despair Gator fans, there are still a few familiar faces from last year. Head coach Urban Meyer returns for his third year after posting a 22-4 record in his first two seasons leading the Gators, including an undefeated record in the Swamp. The ever-exciting Tim Tebow steps into the starting quarterback role determined to show that his arm can be as dangerous as his legs. The wide receiver corps also boasts a number of returning stars including Andre “Bubba” Caldwell, Percy Harvin, and Cornelius Ingram. The defense is a bit of a different story. The Gators return only 2 defensive starters from the 2006 squad. So there will also be quite a bit of change. The many holes in the defense will be fil ...
Choosing Your Major
2007-07-16 22:49:10
So you’re an incoming freshman or an underclassman who is still undecided and the question everyone asks you “What’s your major?” is getting on your last nerves. I’ve heard it a thousand times, and trust me, the only question you will hate being asked more than “What’s your major?” is “What do you want to do after graduation?”. But we’ll get into the graduation question some other day. For now let’s concentrate on choosing your major. I went to freshman orientation at the University of Florida not knowing what I wanted to do with my life (and honestly, 6 months after graduation and working in the real world, I still don’t know the answer). Like many of you, I felt pressure to give the advisors an answer. I told them Civil Engineering. Bad mistake on my part. Never Never Never pick engineering as your major unless you are dead sold on it. I was stupid and signed up for a year’s worth of Calculus and Chem ...

Florida Becomes the First Team to Repeat as NCAA Champion Since Duke in 1992
2007-07-16 22:38:09
The Florida Gators became only the seventh team in NCAA Basketball Tournament history to repeat as national champions Monday night, pushing aside Ohio State 84-75 in a game with all of the excitement of looking at an ashtray. After four very exciting rounds of basketball in the 62-team playoff tournament, the last two rounds put a lot of fans to sleep, including me. The Final 4 found #1 Ohio State easing past #2 Georgetown 67-60 even though freshman phenom Greg Oden only played a half game (20 minutes) because of foul trouble early on. All Big 10 freshman guard Mike Conley Jr. stepped up with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assets and exactly 1 turnover. Oden came back big in the second half, scoring 13 points and picking off 8 rebounds. There is not another team in the country with two freshmen like Oden and Conley. Oden is only the top NBA draft prospect in the country, and at times he has played as advertised. No one should be comparing him to the likes of Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain or ...
Visiting Gainesville, Florida? Ten Ways to Spend Little or No Cash and Stick it to the Man
2007-07-16 22:36:00
Do you plan on being in Gainesville anytime soon? Maybe you’re a Florida Gators fan or a rival in town to watch a game? Maybe you’re a new student or professor at the University of Florida? Regardless of the reason for being in Gainesville, here’s some activities that won’t hurt your wallet and let you stick it to the man. Although I am not sure who this man is, we’ll definitely help you stick it to him regardless. 1. Check out the alligators at Lake Alice Lake Alice is a great place to relax in nature, and still be in the middle of the City. Placed in the heart of the University of Florida campus, you can find a great spot to sit down and watch alligators as they pop their heads out of the water. It is located at the corner of Museum and North South Drive. There are benches to sit down at, open grass to have a picnic, and a trail that wraps around the lake. The best part is that it’s completely free. Heck you could even take a date there and pull th ...
Ohio State v. Florida - The BCS Got it Right
2007-07-16 22:33:33
Much of the country is in the midst of the first real cold snap of the season. But you’d never know it from the hot air coming out of Michigan. Lots of upset people blowing a lot of steam over nothing. The final computer and human rankings were thrown into the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) cauldron and low and behold a live Gator was pulled out. By the way, it was the human voters who saved the day because the BCS computers had the Gators and Wolverines dead even. I don’t know what the computers were thinking, but anyone who saw Florida come from behind to beat Arkansas 38-28 Saturday night to win the SEC Championship knows what I’m talking about. What a thrilling game? Florida showed its tremendous team speed, talent, and ability to make big plays when it needed to. Talk about going for it? How about that 4th and 10 fake punt — from its own 15 yard line while trailing in the 3rd quarter? That takes guts! That was the play that earned the Gators a trip to the National Cham ...
