Donovan Stays With UF For $27.5 million! 2007-07-09 21:41:53 That was not a sonic boom that was heard but a sigh of relief from all the Gator fans who learned that Billy Donovan had gotten out of his 5-year, $27.5 million contract that he signed with the Orlando Magic. Donovan will now earn $3.5 million per year for each of the next six years with the Florida Gators. Donovan is now the highest-paid college basketball coach at a public school. I think Donovan made the right decision when he got out of the Magic contract to stay with UF. He still has some talent on his team and recruiting will not be a problem for the Gators anytime in the foreseeable future. I feel for the Orlando Magic who were poised to have one of the best coaches in recent memory take them to a higher level.
