Ron Artest on KG and Tim Duncan
2007-08-01 21:12:00
Now that KG is back in the news, I thought I would bring back this memorable quote from none other than, yes, Ron "hit the wrong guy in the face" Artest."I remember one time Kevin Garnett was mushing him, and shoving him in the face; and Tim Duncan didn't do anything, he didn't react. He just kicked Kevin Garnett's ass, and won the damn championship. You know what I'm sayin'? That's gangsta. Everybody can show emotion, dunk on somebody, scream and be real cocky; but Tim Duncan is a ... he's a pimp."-Ron ArtestAll things aside, now that KG is on the Celtics along with Ray Allen, Boston is an immediate contender in the Eastern Conference and I expect them to actually be in the finals... but you know where my heart is at... GO SPURS GO! And yes, it is good that KG is as far away from T-Dunc as possible because you know, Tim Duncan is a p.i.m.p.anschad@gmail.com ...
NAACP and Reverend Al Sharpton on Michael Vick
2007-08-01 20:22:00
An opinion from a FOR THE LOVE OF SPORTS reader, DD2:Rev Al said that we shouldn't be in such a rush to Judge poor Michael Vick. Hummm, Is this a "race" issue? When did it become that?Very, very true. This has become somewhat of a race issue among some groups such as the NAACP and people such as Reverend Al Sharpton. Earlier this week the NAACP and Reverend Al Sharpton urged people to reserve public opinion on Michael Vick until the legal process has played out. I do agree with this notion because people in the United States of America are innocent until proven guilty. My only problem with this is that where were these remarks from the same high ranking people to urge the public not to rush judgement when the three men were charged of rape in the Duke Lacrosse case. The same people, such as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, condemned these three kids when they were charged, yet did not apologize when they were PROVEN innocent. Sounds like a Double Standard.anschad@gmail.com ...

Dog Fighting and Michael Vick: Interesting comments from a dog with a voice?
2007-07-31 16:55:00
DOG FIGHTING AND MIKE VICKYes…it’s no surprise that the Arlie Rufus is going to comment on this terrible incident. After all, if not for the grace of God and some good hearts, Arlie Rufus would not be here to bring attention to those without a voice. Arlie Rufus is not here to rip Mike Vick apart before his day in court. Despite the dubious way this country’s justice department has been managed for the past few years, Arlie Rufus believes in the system and that all are innocent until proven guilty. Arlie Rufus is here to rip the freaks and psychopaths who revel in the barbaric, so-called “sport” of dog fighting. The events described in the indictment are terrible, as is what Arlie Rufus has discovered about dog fighting – that this “entertainment” is actually about sick, twisted, selfish pleasure, petty bets and chump change “prize” money. In a country where we have an abundance of legal and non-sadistic ways to entertain ourselves, there are some who actually belie ...
When the Beautiful Game transcends Sports
2007-07-30 01:57:00
It is quite rare when a sporting event transcends the world of entertainment, sports fans, analysts, and monopolistic entities such as ESPN, but on Sunday was one such case. Iraq's national soccer team (a.k.a. the "Lions of the Two Rivers") beat Saudi Arabia 1-0 to win the 2007 Asian Cup and complete one of sport's great fairytale Cinderella stories. This is the first time Iraq has ever won the Asian tournament. At the start of the Asian Cup, Iraq was regarded as having little or no chance to compete because of their supposed lack of chemistry due to the diverse make up of the team, which included Kurds, Sunni and Shi'ite. After the victory this glimmer of hope comes to a country that has been divided by war. After the game, Iraq's captain, who scored the game winner, Younis Mahmoud called for the United States to withdraw its troops from his nation. "I want America to go out," he said. "Today, tomorrow, or the day after tomorrow, but out. I wish the American people didn't invade I ...
