Not the best night ever!
2008-07-25 02:32:00
I went from £31.20 to £26 last night, I will see what it is like next thursday, because last night really was so different to all other nights!I know I should really be able to 'adjust' my play depending on what the game is like, but being so used to maniacs all the time, it just came as a bit of a suprise. In all the games I played, there was at least 6 players by level 6 which really is just crazy! Not going to be playing any poker for a couple of days, as I want a couple of nights off! I will however try and finish writing the Limit Holdem Turn & River Strategy article! ...
Not doing so well tonight!
2008-07-24 14:43:00
Very strange few games I have had tonight. The £1.20 games are usually full of complete loose maniac noobs, and half of them are gone by about level 4.But the first 2 games I played, it was full of the tightest players ever! No one was knocked out even by level 5, I mean, WTF!?!? I was up from the beginning but ended up just getting blinded out, bad beats galore and all that crap!I came 3rd in my 3rd game though, just started another game now and if I dont make the money, I will stop playing for the night!Am at £28.40 though if I lose! ...
I am on FIRE!!
2008-07-22 15:58:00
I am up to £24.40 and just started another £1.20 SnG.I know that its not 'big money' and some of you might be laughing at my excitement of actually doing so well on these small games, but my plan is working. All I want to do is build up my bankroll, I've got no plans to withdraw this money at all, but if I get to my first target of £36 (which shouldnt be long at my current rate) then I will be able to start playing the £3.60 games and then I will work for my next target of £55 to play the £5.50 games and up and up and up!I have a good feeling about this, like I said in my previous post, this was the sort of amount I got to before and then wasted it, but I am completely in the zone at the moment and suprisingly not even thinking about straying from the £1.20 games, although like I said, I cant WAIT to start in the £3.60 games. Not long now hopefully!I will post part 2 of my Limit Holdem strategy (for turn and river) in the next couple of days, I will also jot down some more ' ...
£3.60 Challenge Update
2008-07-22 07:02:00
Just a quick update on how my £3.60 challenge is going. Since I deposited the original money on Sunday, I am happy to say that I am over half way to reaching the first target (£36) and am now at £19.20!I really cant wait to reach £36 as I am beginning to really dislike these £1.20 games! The last time however that I tried doing this, I got to about £27 and got bored so I ended up just playing a couple of £11+1 games and a £5+50p game, and guess what, I didnt win any of them and was back down to £0!If I ever want to achieve my goal of becoming a professional poker player, then I NEED to have discipline and patience. Is anyone else in this situation? Or were you once in this situation? Reply in the comments! ...
No Limit Holdem - Sit n Go Challenge
2008-07-20 06:29:00
I havent played any SnG's for quite a while now, and have been starting to miss the No Limit games, so I have decided to set myself a challenge.(By the way, for you non-poker people out there, SnG's are "Sit and Go's". Basically just short tournamanets).I have deposited £3.60 into William Hill and I am going to try and get to a good sized bankroll using the following rules.I must have 10 times the buyin of the next sized level before I can move up.The buy-ins on William Hill consist of:£1 + 20p, £3 + 60p, £5 + 50p, £10 + £1, £20 + 2, £30 + 3, £40 + 4 (and on and on!).I will start with £3.60, and play the £1.20 games until I get to £36. I will then play the £3.60 games until I get to £55 and so on and so on.I will keep you updated on my progress! I will also inform you if I go broke! ...

2008-07-19 06:52:00
Sorry its taken a couple of days to publish this post!My Limit Holdem StrategyI play like 'they' say to play, tight but aggressive. Which basically means that I pick and choose my hands carefully, but the hands that I decide to play with, I bet strong.I have never written any 'strategy' articles before, so if you can think of anything to help me improve the layout etc., then let me know!Pre-Flop StrategyI will first of all list my starting hand requirements, first of all, remember that this is LIMIT, and my NO LIMIT starting hand requirements are different.AA/KK : Raise in any positionQQ/JJ/1010 : Rate in late position, call in other positions99 / 22 : Call in any positionAK / AQ / AJ : Raise in late position, call in other positionsOther Suited Picture cards : Raise in late position, call in other positionsOther UN-Suited Picture cards : CallSuited Aces : CallSuited Connectors : CallEverything else : FoldI can't really go into EXACT detail of what to do and what to play, because ...
Limit Holdem
2008-07-16 17:01:00
In the last of my introductory posts on the Poker Blog. I will talk about how I got started with Limit Poker!I remember when I first tried online poker, it was on Yahoo! In fact, I could probably still log in and see my minus chip count. Hang on a second....... yep, I just logged in, and have -1593 in chips! If you have ever played Yahoo! Poker, you will know what I mean when I say it is awful! But anyway, I started learning on Yahoo! Poker, and they only offer Limit Holdem. I didn't really understand what the 'options' were at the bottom and why they kept changing!Fold / Check / Call / Bet / RaiseWhy could you only Check sometimes and other times it said Call! What was that little yellow dot that kept going around the table next to peoples names!ArghhhAfter a few hours though of playing terribly badly, I soon figured out what all those things were, but my problem was that I found it boring, so I found a different site (Pokerroom.com) and started playing the No Limit Holdem play money ...
How long have I been playing? What games do I play? Which sites? Why?
2008-07-15 14:05:00
I have been playing Poker for a few years now. I was first introduced to it on a night out, and some guy asked if we wanted to play some poker for fun with him and his girlfriend.Neither I or my friend had a clue how to play the game, but after about half an hour, I had memorised the ranking of hands and very quickly realised there was something very deep to it all, and from that point, I became utterly obsessed with this fascinating game.I play a mixture of Limit and No Limit Holdem. I have only recently started getting into Limit though! The sites I play at are primarily PokerStars and William Hill. I like PokerStars for the cash games, and when I feel like playing a run of SnG's, I use William Hill. I have tried MOST of the Poker Rooms though, but that's only to see what they were like. What I like about poker is that it literally does take only half an hour to learn how to play, but takes a lifetime to master, same as any other decent game, such as Chess, Go & even Monopoly! The ...

Hello, and welcome to my Poker Blog!My name is William, and I am a small time Online Poker player that sometimes joins in the Live Poker games if I get a chance.I will tell you now, I am in no way a Professional Player, so if you are expecting someone like Daniel Negreanu or Phil Hellmuth then you wont find them here!I am one of those players that makes all in all only about $10 - $30 a night. I sometimes have bigger wins than that, and sometimes lose money, but I am just an amateur player, if I could win all the time, then I wouldnt be working a 9-5 programming job! With the help of revealing how I play, and hopefully getting feedback & discussion going, I hope to improve my own play so that I CAN quit my job to live my dream of playing poker full time! It will also help you aswell if you are in the same situation as me, especially if you join in the conversations, then we can all help each other! This blog will be primarily aimed at Online Poker, but will occasionally include Live ...
