Well, I got a new PS3 game yesterday. One problem is I don't have a PS3. You see, I sold some things for a fundraiser and got to pick a prize out of a box. The prizes varied from Wii, PSP, PS3, and Xbox games, as well as skateboards and other useless crap. So I picked a copy of Madden '08 for the PS3, thinking "Hey, I'll just sell it for some money". Now when I think about it, having a PS3 wouldn't be that bad... So I'm thinking about picking up one of the new 80gb ones with Motorstorm pre-packaged in with it. Anyone have anything good to say about the PS3? Maybe someone that has both it and an Xbox 360. I've been debating which one to get since they both have very similar games, aside from few exclusives (plus if I get a PS3 thats one less game to buy). Well, this is pretty much official. The much rumored Xbox Arcade system will most likely be released by the holiday season. This package is meant to replace the soon discontinued Core package. The Arcade model will come with a memory card with 5 Xbox Live Arcade games. Also it includes a wireless controllor, and possibly an HDMI port. Both which were not in the Core package. We have been informed that Microsoft’s Xbox live service is to close Monday for around 4 hours (apparently from 9am to 1pm). Many users of its Xbox Live service have been getting messages from the Console manufacturer, although this is just a little bit of downtime I wonder what the Xbox 360 users will feel about this. If people are at work or not around then I guess they will not care, but for the gamers that want to go to Xbox live in the downtime, they will be very unhappy. Microsoft has apparently refused to comment on what the maintenance is for, it could be an annual autumn update but who really knows but Microsoft. One other rumor that I found very interesting is that there could be a new feature as a parental timer that allows adults pre-program a set amount of time their children can play on the Xbox 360. I just brought a Sony PS3 for the Blu-ray to get great high definition pictures while watching movies, but as I also own the Xbox 360 its great news that Microsoft are going to cut the price of the external HD-DVD drive from around £122 (€180) by £13 (€20). The high-definition player add-on to the Xbox 360 needs to make more sales and this price cut could help, what do you think? The Consumer Electronics trade fair in Germany is where the announcement was made, but currently I have not heard what the price cut will be in the UK (it retails there for £129). Microsoft has announced that their HD DVD add-on for the Xbox 360 is to get a price cut in Europe, at the moment the price is €200 and will now drop to €180. However it still seems that those in Europe are still getting a bad deal because if you do the conversion they are paying $244 for the Xbox 360 HD DVD add-on, whereas in the U.S it will only cost $179. This price cut I fear will not help increase HD DVD formatted discs sales, as the gap between them and Blu-ray seems to be getting larger and this is mainly due to the Blu-ray being incorporated into Sony PS3. Gears of War is one of the best games available for Microsoft’s Xbox 360, well four million user can not be wrong. Well it seems as if those gamers will be kept even happier with a new free downloadable map pack. The free map pack is called Hidden Fronts and is available to download from Xbox Live. In the new map pack are four new areas, these are Bullet Marsh, Process, garden and Subway. As Gears of War is the most popular Xbox Live game, it was only a matter of time before Microsoft would reward their four million players with a new map pack.
