Sony has unwrapped a new entry-level digital SLR in the shape of the 10.2-million-pixel A200 which is expected to replace the A100 model launched in 2006.Sony UK has confirmed a body-only price of £369. It will also be available in a kit that includes an 18-70mm lens, priced £449; and with an 18-70mm and 75-300mm lens in a kit priced £599.Due in UK stores in February the A200 features an APS-C size CCD sensor, a top equivalent ISO of 3200 and dust protection, using a sensor-shift system combined with an anti-dust coating on the low-pass filter.Differences over its predecessor are expected to include a 2.7in LCD screen and faster AF using the same AF motor used in the A700 model announced last year.The A200 also includes eight creative styles: Standard, Vivid, Portrait, Landscape, Night view, Sunset, b&w and Adobe RGB.An improved AF control algorithm is said to help focusing on low contrast subjects.UK specification and availability have yet to be announced.The newcomer was revealed

Sony has announced the third DSLR in its Alpha range, the A200.The model replaces the A100 and is said to 'feature upgrades influenced by the A700' launched last year. It is also said to be 'faster, lighter and easier to use' than the A100.Like the A100, the new model utilises an APS-sized CCD sensor, but ups the effective pixel count to 10.2MP. The resolution of the LCD screen remains at 230,000pixels, but sees a slight increase to 2.7 inches, while a Bionz engine handles image processing – also claiming to reduce noise in Raw images before converting them to JPEG files.As was the case in the company's previous two models, Super SteadyShot image stabilisation claims to allow shutter speeds up to 3.5 steps slower than would usually be possible, and is complimented by Sony's D-Range Optimiser (DRO). A sensor-shift dust-reduction mechanism is joined by a static-resistant anti-dust coating, to help eliminate and prevent dust, while the autofocus system is claimed to be 1.7x faster

The Sony XEL-1 is the first OLED Television in the United States and features an 11-inch wide screen and is only 3 millimeters thin. The Sony XEL-1 features a high contrast ration of 1,000,000:1, producing very rich and vibrant colors. The Sony XEL-1 has 2 HDMI slots and a memory stick slot. The advantage of having an OLED TV is that it can be 40 percent more efficient than a 20 inch LCD panel since it uses low power levels and OLED displays needs no backlight which eliminates mercury, making the Sony XEL-1 very environmental friendly. The Sony XEL-1 is now available for $2,500 but you better hurry and purchase it at the Sony Style Store website since it is only available in limited quantities.

The folks at Unwired View have received a leaked shot of a new Sony Ericsson clamshell phone, which totes the Z660i moniker. Besides 3G connectivity, 2MP camera and a thickness of 14mm, not an awful lot is known about the metal clad cellphone. In fact, we cannot be certain the phone even exists. The Z660i first appeared on an Estato forum in the form of a rough sketch, the new leaked shot corroborates with the drawing previously seen. Given the two separate sources are similar, it's looking like this could be the real deal, but we cannot be certain. Either way, we wouldn't expect Santa to be dropping any of these down your chimney; not even he commands power over Sony Ericsson's launch team. It's been almost two years since Konica Minolta pulled out of the photo business and transferred its entire camera division to Sony, and well over a year since the first Sony DSLR (the DSLR-A100) was announced.
