Rumors of including the PSP voice chat feature for the gaming device have been doing rounds since long, and in fact affiliations in Europe with British Telecom and Go!Messenger for European territories have also been created. In fact, it has also been known that Go!Messenger will enable instant messaging along with voice chat, however no such plans have since been announced for North America. But all the same, in Sony’s CES 2008 website, the company has enlisted Skype functionality under the PSP’s features, stating that users can, “call friends, talk trash to fellow gamers, or catch up with acquaintances via Skype for PSP system.” Though there are no further details such as release date, specs etc known currently, but the CES site clearly mentions that the Skype voice chat integration for the PSP is sure to happen. Naturally, some knobs and dials were removed from the camera to make it less intimidating to beginners, but the ergonomics don't really suffer for it, and in addition, the camera still has all the nice features the Alpha 100 had, and adds a few that were exclusive to the Alpha 700.To be brief - Sony have just made another giant stride forward by making this camera appeal to all those first-time photographers who are familiar with the Sony brand. Not only that, it'll also appeal to Minolta users - there's enough of that old Minolta magic in this camera, so it doesn't feel like a cheap electronic gizmo, but like a real camera. Image quality is very Sony - appealing straight out of the camera, reducing the need for postprocessing. Point and shoot, but only Photoshop if you really want to.By Matjaž Intihar. The Sony A700 bears more than a passing resemblance to the Konica Minolta Maxxum / Dynax 7D DSLR, which is perhaps no surprise given that Sony effectively inherited Konica Minolta's camera business a couple of years ago. The list of brand new features is certainly impressive. There's a 12.24 megapixel CMOS sensor, replacing the 10 megapixel CCD sensor of the A100, a 11 point autofocus system, extensive ISO range of 100-6400, 5fps continuous shooting (up to 17 shots in RAW mode), a fantastic, high resolution 3 inch LCD screen, magnesium body with dust/moisture resistant seals and a fastest shutter speed of 1/8000th. The A700 builds on the existing Maxxum / Dynax lens mount with the re-christened Alpha mount, with the majority of Konica Minolta lenses being supported. As with the A100, the new A700 incorporates several Konica Minolta tec | | Maria Sharapova Is A Sony Ericsson Girl 2008-01-16 05:08:00 Twenty-one year old tennis star Maria Sharapova not only endorses Canon PowerShot cameras, but she's recently signed on with Sony Ericsson as its "first global brand ambassador." Since then, many Sony and Carl Zeiss ZA T* series lenses have been released, and now, the second camera is available. (A third D-SLR, targeting professionals, will be announced in 2008.) The new A700 maintains compatibility with Maxxum as well as Sony AF lenses, but this new 12-megapixel Alpha model is entirely different than the A100 in most other respects. A “prosumer”-level model, it provides superior resolution, versatility, and performance as I discovered while shooting over a thousand images.Design And FeaturesA rugged, weather-resistant D-SLR with an aluminum chassis, magnesium body, and carbon-fiber shutter, the A700 is a mid-size camera with a contoured grip that seems just right for small or large hands. Sony also markets an optional VG-C70AM battery grip that accepts one or two of the lithium batteries. Both devices does not only have voice recording capabilities but can playback MP3s, up to 2GB internal storage and a high speed USB Connection. While most MP3 players has voice recording functions, let's face it, it's not really its main function and you end up with distorted recordings. The ICD-UX70 and ICD-UX80 are mainly voice recorders and MP3 playback is only secondary so you can expect high quality voice recordingsfrom these device. And good news for stylish ladies, the Sony ICD-UX70 is available in---hold your breath---PINK! The USB connection will also allow you to charge these devices. The Sony ICD-UX70 and ICD-UX80 will be available this January. | | Sony Introduces Portable Bravia B4000 Series 2008-01-14 08:18:00 For those who wish they could take their LCD TV anywhere, the new Sony Bravia B4000 might be the answer to your prayers. It might not be as sophisticated and feature pack as others but this is one of the first phones that I have had that is reliable and back on the days when it was first released, it was also coolSPECIFICATIONS:The Sony Ericsson T616 is very basic when it comes to mobile phones. It weighs only 95 grams, has 128 x 160 color screen with 65k colors, supports GSM 850, 1800, and 1900, built-in digital camera, Bluetooth, Infrared, USB, and can be used as a modem. The keypad on the device is spacious and you won't have problems typing. The built-in camera on the Sony Ericsson T616 is not a mega pixel camera but it delivers clear photos. It even has settings to allow you to shoot pictures in black and white, sepia and negative tones. | | Sony Ericsson W960i Review 2008-01-12 19:34:00 Sony Ericsson's W960i is being dubbed as the Sony Ericsson's "iPhone killer" though it looks nothing like the iPhone, however, I forget that to be an iPhone killer, one doesn't necessarily have to look like an iPhone.SPECIFICATIONS:The Sony Ericsson W960i is more featured pack than the iPhone. It has 3G, Wireless LAN, supports Stereo Bluetooth A2DP profile, 8GB of internal memory, video calling features, Symbian OS, and a 3.2 mega pixel camera.ADVANTAGES:The Sony Ericsson W960i has a glossy black finish and weighs 119g which feels solid when held but still sleek and cool looking. The 3.2 mega pixel camera has LED flash and auto focus and delivers clear looking pictures though not quite good when compared with Sony Ericsson's Cyber-shot line of phones. It isn’t much different, though: Sony markets it as "faster, lighter, and easier to use," according to their January 6 press release. The Sony ? DSLR-A200 comes with the same 10.2 megapixels and many of the same features, like built-in optical image stabilization and dust removal systems. When the A100 was released a year ago, it sold for $899 with a kit lens. The new Sony A200 will still come with a lens, but will retail for much less at $699. It will be available in February.Physical TourFrontThe Sony DSLR-A200’s front looks very similar to its predecessor. It has the molded hand grip on the left with a thick divot near the top for the index finger. Also near the top is a sensor for the optional remote control. The photo gearheads acknowledged the announcement of the Sony A200 with a collective sigh and dove head first into rumors of the Sony A300.Granted, these rumors have their genesis before the official announcement of the A200 - along with rumors of the A900 (or whatever Sony’s flagship will be called). However, the rumor mill has clearly flourished in light of the underwhelming announcement of the A200.In case you’re not up to speed, Sony announced the A200 on January 6th at CES in Las Vegas. It’s clearly an entry level DSLR at $700 in a kit with the 18-70mm lens. The price and features of the A200 have spurred the suspicion that Sony has got something bigger planned for PMA.Several Sony gearheads believe that Sony will slot at least one camera, if not two, between the A200 and the prosumer A700. That’s not just smoking rope and talking smack - there’s a method to the madness. The A200 is like a compact version of the A100. It's smaller and lighter than its predecessor, with a slightly bigger 2.7in 230k screen, but the same 10.2 Mpixel CCD sensor. The AF system remains 9-point, but the speed is noticeably quicker and it's a little quieter too. The Alpha A200 should be on sale in February for $699 USD in a kit with the DT 18-70mm lens. The Alpha 200 has a more compact body and a slightly larger 2.7-inch LCD, new firmware, and a top light-sensitivity setting of ISO 3200 instead of the Alpha 100’s ISO 1600. Sony also says it offers improved optical image stabilization algorithms, an autofocus speed that is 1.7 times faster than the Alpha 100’s, improved image-noise control, and a quieter shutter. The new camera’s battery system provides a percentage-remaining readout as well. To achieve the Alpha 200’s more compact design, Sony removed a top-mounted control dial that provided direct access to several frequently used settings. Fortunately, the designers added a dedicated ISO button to preserve quick access to that setting, as well as a function-menu button for efficient adjustment to other frequently used controls.
