Samsung and O2 are launching a new mobile phone called Solid. The latest phone is water and dust resistant. Also it includes anti-shock capability and will come with a rubber body, which will protect the phone against fall. Samsung claims that the phone will survive even in water splashes and from occasional knocks or drops. Hence the handset is useful for the athletes, tradesmen and other rough users. The Samsung GX-20 showed up on a Norwegian website amongst the press releases of the new Samsung point and shoot cameras, which were announced at CES this week. (UPDATE: As of 7:00AM on 1/10/07, the reference to the GX-20 has been removed from the website. It was previously positioned above the photo of the NV24HD.) In the midst of all the press releases, the GX-20 appears out of place and there is no other info other than this photo, accompanied by the key specifications. This intrigued me. Samsung, one of the leading sellers of cell phones in the world, is coming out with an all new Touch Screen phone for Sprint. The Samsung M800 will have a 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, GPS, and 3G EV-DO capabilities. It does not say, but I would assume that it would also come with some kind of media playback functionalities. This phone looks very nice, with a large touch screen and what look like 3 touch sensitive buttons on the bottom of the device. The M800 is the US variant of a very similar phone currently in Europe I believe. This looks to be an iPhone killer hoeful, we'll just have to wait and see if it lives up to it's name. Samsung F490 (or SGH-F490), the latest high-end multimedia touchscreen phone from the South Korean manufacturer, was officially launched today. Samsung's SGH-P520 Armani phone is a high-fashion cell phone that is meant to take on the likes of Apple's iPhone and LG's Prada phone. Samsung Electronics will launch 14 new digital cameras in Taiwan in 2008, aiming to hike its market share from 4-5% in 2007 to 12% to become one of the top three vendors, according to general manger Chul-young Lee for Samsung Electronics Taiwan at a year-end press conference on December 26.Out of the 14 new cameras to be launched, four will be in the NV series, three each in the L, S and i series and a DSLR (digital single-lens reflex) model developed jointly by Samsung and Pentax, Samsung Taiwan pointed out.
