Yo ho me hearty! Tonight’s voyage should be a good un’ with Capn’ Louie at the helm! Last week when Azmyth’s team lost I can’t say that I was sorry. I didn’t care for his egalitarian view of command and I hated his British accent. I’ll be interested to see how Louis does as captain. I think he was right last week. Louie is better at being a thorn in the captain’s side than he is a being captain. He is still harboring (Haha pirate pun!) a grudge against Joe Don and his allies. He managed to get rid of Cheryl last week although that was mostly her own doing. Getting angry at the folks about to judge you isn’t the smartest move ever. At least Louie can take comfort in knowing he made JD waste $7000 buying the royal pardon for nothing.
Tonight, Louie’s officers, Vanessa and Sean, are arguing in front of the crew and ready to vote each other off. Joe Don will once again be a major player. With his bank roll from being capta | | Pirate Master?s Hidden Treasure: The Island of Dominica 2007-06-25 09:00:37
With the swashbuckling antics of the crew of cutthroats keeping everyone entertained very few viewers have focused on the lush island which is serving as the backdrop for the premiere season of Pirate Master. The island nation of Dominica is probably one few Caribbean islands without endless lines of resorts up and down its beaches. Much of the island is protected as national wilderness.
Dominica natural beauty has earned it the nickname “Nature Isle of the Caribbean”. The island features lush mountainous rainforests with many beautiful waterfalls. Dominica is also the home of many exotic birds, plants, and animals. Mountainous, densely forested, and exotic birds. The island of Dominica is still volcanically active. The geothermal-volcanic activity provide visitors with numerous one of a kind attractions such as boiling hot springs, geysers, and black-sand beaches. The diving is said to be phenomenal. Divers can experience coral reefs and rare fish while diving in a | | Pirate Master Recap - (Episode 4) 6/21/07 2007-06-21 20:30:31
Here we go with week 4 on Pirate Master, CBS’ new Survivor meets Pirates of the Caribbean reality TV show. Last week we saw Alexis set adrift due to her lackluster attitude and willingness to pull her own weight aboard the ship and on the competitions. We also saw a new captain come into power, Azmyth, after the tyrannous Joe Don was dethroned. There are a few unresolved issues from last week that we’ll need to get worked out tonight, like Sean going back on his bribed vote and Jay turning his back on JD by trying to vote out his partner in crime, Cheryl. Let’s see who gets burned by the Pirate fire this week on Pirate Master!
Well right off the bat we’re into the Sean and Jay argument. Sean apologizes profusely for going back on his word, but he doesn’t give back the $1000 of gold that Jay gave his as a bribe. I can’t believe Jay didn’t demand that back! All we get out of Jay is that Sean is dead to him now. I just can’t believe | | Pirate Master: Pirate Humor Warm-Up 2007-06-21 13:00:46
Since I know all you swashbucklers are just sitting around getting psyched up for tonight’s episode I thought I’d share some pirate humor to help get you ready. Remember to get the full stretch of the exercise you’ll need to laugh like a pirate too. So instead of “ha ha ha” you need more of an “arr arr arr”. See? Good.

Ahoy there! Gettin’ ready for the next installment of Pirate Master, eh matey? Well, this tonight’s episode should be interesting after the change in command last week. With Joe Don now part of the crew and Azmyth running the show we have already seen sweeping changes in how the ship is being run. But, I’m not sure that is to everyone’s liking. Jay was certainly not too keen on being forced to split his officer’s share of the booty with the rest of the crew. Azmyth was made captain because he has been a strong competitor in all of the treasure hunts and he is certainly less likely to have the authority of being captain go to his head than Joe Don but, I’m not certain that this will necessarily translate into good leadership for the crew.
Azmyth’s approach to the treasure winnings may turn out to be really smart. When JD was the captain and took his lion’s share, leaving only scraps to be divided up, there was little motivation for hi | | Pirate Master: Ranking the Remaining Crew - Week 4 2007-06-20 08:00:27
Last week we finally got a change of pace with JD getting knocked from his pirate throne by the new captain, Azmyth. Despite Jay’s efforts to get Cheryl to walk the plank it was Alexis who was set adrift. After watching tough guy Christian getting the pirate boot the week before I was wondering if the crew would start voting based on high sea value or not. I was happy to see Alexis head out on the raft because she really didn’t seem to be cutting it as a pirate anymore. Her “can’t do” attitude was wearing thin and despite her claim that it was other people’s problem if they didn’t like her it turned out to be her’s. It looks like the pirate crew may have decided to start voting by value, but will it continue?
Let’s take a look at who is left of the crew and how they rank against one another in Pirate Master Worthiness as we enter Week 4:

Ever wonder where Mark Burnett and CBS found a some-what authentic square-rigged sailing ship to serve as the pirate ship for the premiere season of Pirate Master? Well wonder no more me hearties! She is the Barque Picton Castle, a sail training ship based in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada. Originally built in 1928 in wales as a fishing trawler, she served time as a mine sweeper during World War II. It wasn’t until 1996 that she was finally converted in to a square rigged sailing ship. The Picton Castle is 179 feet long, displaces 300 tons, and carries 12,500 square feet of sail.
However her conversion from a minesweeper and fishing trawler into a barque alone was not a dramatic enough change for Mark Burnett and the folks at CBS. Before being used as the pirate’s base of operation in the show the Picton Castle required a Complete makeover. The changes included the construction of the elegant transom with pane-glass windows and beautifully detailed woodwork on the st | | Pirate Master Recap - (Episode 3) 6/14/07 2007-06-14 21:24:41
Ahoy Mateys! ust finished watching another thrilling episode of Pirate Master. This week began with Louie out for blood after his ‘brother’ Christian was cast adrift last week. In a bit of foreshadowing, we saw Alexis slacking off and too tired to help her shipmates perform their duties. Apparently she is in the fashion industry and not used to physical labor (awww, poor Alexis).

Red Crew: Kendra, Azmyth, Jay, Louie, Christa, Jupiter, Nessa
The first part of tonight’s treasure hunt was fairly straight forward. The crews had to paddle ashore and then follow a trail through the jungle. Along the path was a sabotage point which would allow the first crew past it to block the trail with a pile of bamboo poles.
The teams were neck in neck until the black crew ran into trouble pushing their boat over sandbar. Then, Alexis just wandered off. The rest of the black crew is back in the boat | | Pirate Master: Pirate Humor Warm-Up 2007-06-14 13:00:21

Being a pirate isn’t easy, especially when it comes to job hunting. Thankfully there’s hope for the modern pirate.

Shiver me Timbers! Its almost time for another episode of Pirate Master! Unbelievably last week Joe Don (JD) managed to remain captain despite some strategic blunders. Denying the crew food. You know the people who can mutiny and vote you off. JD kept all of his share of the treasure to himself. After the crew grumbled he shared a very small, and in the opinion of some of the crew, insulting amount. He also kept Ben and Cheryl as his officers.
In the end though, JD kept the captain’s privileges and it was Christian who was cast adrift. If JD keeps this up I can’t believe that there will not be a mutiny in the near future. I think it would also be in Ben and Cheryl’s best interest to talk some sense into JD before they are tarred with the same brush and cast adrift before their time.
Considering all the talk Louie gives to a mutiny each week (and again in this week’s preview commercial) maybe we’ll finally see some pirate action on the high seas and | | Pirate Master Recap - (Episode 2) 6/7/07 2007-06-07 22:52:54
As this week’s episode of Pirate Master begins we get introduced to a few more personalities. Kendra is a bit of a daredevil (well you wouldn’t find me up there!) as she professes her love for climbing to the top of the masts. Then there is “Azmyth” (um, okay, sure) that claims to be a “jolly pirate” and he’ll be sure to look out for the best for all his fellow pirates. Nice shaving style on your beard there “Azmyth”. Now on to the first set of grumblings from the crew. They’re unhappy with their food conditions and I don’t blame them. Each crew member gets a few spoonfuls of gruel while the captain, Joe Don, and his officers receive an awesome breakfast of eggs with peppers and onions, some steak, bacon, and even fruit. That’s definitely a good bit rough of a deal and will only drive the wedge further between the have’s and the have-not’s.

Ahoy there Matey! Arrgh! Tonight be the second episode of CBS’s Pirate Master. Last week we got our first peek at this new show and it wasn’t bad. Its going to take a few weeks before we and the contestants really figure out the ins and outs of this game. JD was elected as the first captain of the season. I really think he made some very bad decisions from a game perspective. He didn’t include anyone else other than his two officers Cheryl and Ben when deciding who to cast adrift (although I can’t say that I’m sorry to see John, the Scientist/Exotic Dancer, walk the plank!). JD also was pretty rough on the crew who are the ones voting. Based on the previews for this week it looks like this trend is going to continue with JD. Denying food to the folks who can vote you off seems like an exceptionally bad idea if you ask me. I’ll be interested to see if JD can remain captain or if we will see our first mutiny tonight.

Yo ho, Yo ho, a pirate’s life for me! Tonight, for a crew of 16 would-be pirates began the adventure of a lifetime! The crew seems to be the usual assortment of characters that you get on most reality shows. All of them were very full of themselves. One in particular stood out. John (the Scientist/Exotic Dancer) seemed like he was going to be the freak of the show. He was getting on people’s nerves during the first night’s meet and greet. The first time we saw him my son asked “Is that Sanjaya?” Supposedly the crew had all sailed before but you couldn’t prove it by me. The couldn’t haul on a line in unison, some of the crew seemed a little shy of climbing the ratlines to set sail, and before they had even reached the island joy was seasick and chunking over the side of the ship (some pirate, eh?).

Ahoy me hearties! Arrgh! Tonight be the night that Pirate Master starts! Starting this show the week after Pirates of the Caribbean 3 came out was a brilliant move on CBS’s part. I was excited about this show when I first wrote the preview for the series for WBM. Once I saw Pirates of the Caribbean 3 over the weekend though I was totally ready for more pirates! Even though the show looks really cheesy, I can’t help being excited about it. The problem of course is that I’m so up for this show now, that the chances of me being disappointed are high. Make sure to check back and I let you know if it sails or if it should be sent to Davy Jones’ Locker! Arrgh! This is going to be great! If nothing else it will be an entire season of reviews where I get to talk like a pirate! Shiver me timbers! Arrgh!

When I saw the promos for this show I was very excited. I love pirates and maritime history and I love reality TV. For me this show is like a Reeses, two great tastes that taste great together. The crew of 16 pirate wanna-bes will spend 33 days living aboard a 179-foot pirate ship as they sail around the island of Dominica in the Caribbean.
For the most part it sounds like this show will follow the formulas used by most reality shows. The ‘crew’ will face challenges each week as they go on adventures to compete and gain clues to the treasure’s whereabouts. At the end of every episode, at the Pirate’s Court (i.e., Tribal Council from Survivor) one pirate will be voted off or ‘cast adrift’ as they say. Another pirate, the one who accumulated the most gold will be made Pirate Captain (i.e., project manager ala The Apprentice) who will be in charge and assign duties to the other crew members.
The most interesting twist to this show is the gold. | | PIRATE SESSIONS 06/03/05 - THE 4/4 SPECIAL 2005-03-21 08:16:00 After returning from pushing UKG in Ney York DJ Cameo returned for Pirate Sessions on 1Xtra.
