Microsoft Zune Halo 3 military special edition: Themed player for U.S. soldiers
Microsoft has given us the normal Zune player which is great but they wanted to go one step further and show you a brown special edition Zune. Microsoft announced the new brown version of the Zune which has the Halo 3 theme; this new one will be for all you U.S. soldiers. Welcome to the new Halo 3 military edition Zune which is only available for US armed forces and which will be available exclusive to military retail stores. The new Microsoft Zune Halo 3 military special edition will be available in these stores sometime in August with pre-loaded gear which will be similar to that of Halo 3 Civilian Zune, Should they sell the Zune Halo 3 military special edition to us civilians? The reason I ask this question is because, think about it US armed forces can probably get their hands on the Halo 3 Civilian Zune so why cannot we get our hands on the Military Halo 3 Zune. Microsoft DO NOT have to pay $1.53 billion to Alcatel-Lucent
A US federal judge has said that Microsoft do not have to pay $1.53 billion to Alcatel-Lucent for infringement of two of the latter firms MP3 patents. When we all heard about the original ruling it put shockwaves thought the world of digital music back in March. Rudi M. Brewster who is the judge has said that Microsoft did not infringe one of the patents after all and legitimately paid a different company, Fraunhofer for the other. The case will not be over for a while because Alcatel-Lucent plans to appeal against the new ruling (we guessed they would). Should we really care about this? Microsoft Photosynth Software Shows Shuttle Pre-Launch
Microsoft’s Photosynth software is basically an application that takes hundreds of photos of a certain landmark, object or building allowing it to be seen in a ‘3D view’ on the computer. Microsoft’s latest 3d model coverage is the Space Shuttle Endeavour on the launch pad at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, before it launches. It allows you to move around, zoom in and view with great accuracy. It really is a great and innovative idea that I’m sure someone like Google will catch onto soon and make faster, simpler and easier to use. What do you think of the Microsoft Photosynth Software?
Microsoft Gives Windows Vista a Price-Cut in China, $66
Microsoft has given an extremely substantial price cut to their latest OS, bringing it down by roughly 67 percent in an attempt to drastically boost sales and gain that market that were wary of the price. However, many are not bought by this tactic, as a number of people exclaim how disappointing Vista was to them. Lanci, president of the fourth largest computer manufacturer Acer, recently made a public statement broadcasting his negative views on the operating system, which can be read here. Personally, I feel the main reason as to why this wasn’t a global decision is due to China’s ridiculous pirating figures, of which more can be read about here. Perhaps Microsoft gave the dramatic price cut in order to close up the gap between pirate sales and genuine Windows Vista sales? Source Written by Ryan for Product ReviewsIn Sections: Software
Microsoft Surface
Microsoft To Release Free Version of Works: Refuse to Let it Die
Many of you Microsoft veterans will remember the extremely unpopular Microsoft Works that is being increasingly phased out due to lack of use by the public. Microsoft have recently made a statement saying that they shall be introducing an advert-supported version of Works which will be completely free, as they are refusing to allow it to be phased out. “We’ve put a lot of thought into the implementation of advertising in Works, a lot of careful research in designing the ads in a way that’s not overly intrusive,” Stern from Microsoft said. Personally I don’t see the point in trying. If people hate the program when it’s ad-free, why on earth do they think it’ll become the slightest bit more popular with an advert in the way of your document? Agree? Disagree? Let us know. Comment and tell us how you think the new Microsoft Works will do. Source Written by Ryan for Product ReviewsIn Sections: Software
Which is the Better Alternative To Microsoft’s Windows, Linux or Mac?
If you’re disappointed with the latest attempt of an operating system by Microsoft and think your Linux distro or Apple OX is superior, then tell us why. The transitition from Windows XP to Windows Vista is seen as the ideal time to steal some customers and so Linux and Apple really have taken advantage of this fact, by making their OS’ as appealing as possible. Linux has gone from being a small and insignificant project for open-source geeks enthusiasts to one of the most influential and powerful software companies in the world. Quite simply, huge thanks are due to the effort of both the volunteer community that steadily work hard on the OS and the companies that are investing in Linux aiding them in their development. Buying a Mac has become a very interesting and ‘old-school’ concept, with Apple providing the hardware, the operating system OS X, key, first party applications such as calendaring, e-mail, and address book. Macs can be bought from a myriad of p
Bill Gates Still Planning On Leaving Microsoft Next Year
Even though Mr Gates is busy away, scheduling and planning all the Microsoft goodies in the world, it seems like he is still planning to leave next year; which is quite odd seeing as he’s still working his socks off. “I am in a lucky situation of having way more things that seem interesting to do and very exciting and important, and working with smart people, and highly impactful, way more than a 24-hour day will fit,” Mr. Gates said. But with so many things to come, why leave now? “It’s very hard for someone at his age, who has built a company with that much success and with continuing challenges to really walk away,” said Yoffie, a professor at Harvard’s business school. With the news of his departure pops up the question, how will the lack of input from Bill Gates affect the new operating system, planning on launching in three years time? Will Windows 7 benefit from not being aided by Mr Gates? Will it perhaps bring a negative aspect to the new OS? Either way, Mr
Microsoft Windows Vista Hotfix Updates Leaked: Is it SP1?
Many signifiant and reliable technology websites have all posted prerelease versions of what seems to be a Windows Vista Service Pack, aiding computers, essentially making them more secure and less prone to error messages. According to the text from Microsoft that accompanies the software, it “resolves a number of individual issues which may be affecting some computers running Windows Vista.” The pack seems to offer many things that disappointingly should have been fixed prior to its release. These include improved performance in returning to the desktop from Vista’s Photo and Windows Energy screen savers; resolution of an issue that causes Vista to corrupt some AVI files; and faster restoration of the login screen when resuming from hibernate. The second file, regarding ‘Vista Compatibility and Reliability’ that came to our attention boasts a number of fixes that includes improved visual appearance of games, better networking reliability and impressively
Ebook: Programming Microsoft Visual Basic For Beginner
This book is meant for the beginner. Its primary purpose is to get you up and writing programs in the shortest possible time. For that reason I take a very practical approach (thus the title). My goal is that you be able to function as a competent Visual Basic programmer in at the end of this book, and write useful programs. That means that I don’t go in depth into theory, or into advanced topics. However this book should provide you with the ground work necessary to move on to more advanced programming topics. While some of the code examples and lessons can be accomplished with Visual Basic 4, 5, or 6, much will require Visual Basic 6.0. (more…)
Blogalaxia Tags:
Microsoft revolutonalises a High School
The state run high school system in America is often viewed as under-funded and over-crowded, especially in large urban cities such as Philadelphia. So when Microsoft announced its intention to join up with the city school district and bring all its resources and software know-how there was a mixture of shock and surprise from across the community. But one year on all seems to be going well. West Philadelphia is a place of high crime rates and low incomes, the last place you would expect to find a new bright white gleaming school building packed with technology. There are digital writing boards, built-in audio systems, auditoriums that swivel into place and lots more. Controversial combination "In the gym there are cameras with which we are able to capture kids' games. So the next day the kids can deconstruct the game by watching it and better their skills," said High School principal Shirley Grover. "We can also capture their best shot or pass, which helps us build portfolios
