| Online vs. Offline Marketing 2007-08-24 07:25:18 I think most people consider online and offline/traditional marketing as two entirely separate entities.
Being a PPC Campaign Manager (ok, ok an Intern Campaign Manager!), I am obviously biased to the paid form of online marketing and believe its success far outweighs the results delivered by offline marketing simply because so many people are turning to the Internet to look for absolutely anything they desire... and will find it!
I recently read this article on ClickZ which sheds an interesting perspective on these two forms of marketing. Basically statistics are showing that the integration of online and offline marketing is achieving results far better than they can produce on their own. “According to a new study by Jupiter Research and search marketing agency iProspect, a surprising two-thirds of searchers are led to search on a given keyword as a result of offline marketing”.
I think it is essential for companies to integrate online and offline marketing strategies | | Interesting Case-Study - Ticketmaster's marketing techniques 2007-08-23 08:03:00 Ok, so I have to admit that this is probably not all that interesting... but it could be for someone... Ticketmaster uses several techniques, in this video we see someone attempting to purchase Blue Man Group tickets with ticketmaster. Her analysis fails to point out the way that ticketmaster uses presales to increase demand and sales for tickets, evidence of which can be found here. The video's auther also mentions Ticketmaster Auctions - HA! Now comes news that at least 6 pilots aimed for a US autumn release have been leaked online. Or have they? There's currently a popular opinion that these “leaks” are actually carefully calculated marketing ploys orchestrated by the networks themselves, and I must admit that when you look at it a lot of evidence points in this direction.
To start off take into account that a high proportion of the leaked content is made up of pilot episodes. The leaking of episodes of ongoing series is nowhere near as frequent. Although this may be as a result of the fact that there’s a lot more buzz surrounding a new series, it’s worth bearing in mind the addictive nature of series often results in viewers craving the next episode of an existing show more than the first glimpse of a new program.

In many cases batch email marketing can be waste of time any money, especially if you are sending emails to people who have not agreed to accept emails from you. In that case it could be considered spam and lead to being booted off your internet service provider. It can also create animosity with your subscribers if they receive a constant flow of emails from you that appear to be advertising only, with no benefit to them.
Email marketing can be an integral part of your marketing plan and if done right can bring in tons of business. If done wrong it will bring in tons of complaints. Consider when signing up for information online that you are agreeing to accept emails from that company as well as third party companies. One day you open your mailbox and have hundreds of email for items or websites that you have no interest in visiting. You will have to go through each one to stop receiving mail from them and even placing their address in a spam f | | Day 568: Chain school recruits unpaid marketing team 2007-08-07 09:35:00 Welcome to the twenty-first century. Your chain school (aka, The Titanic) has launched a blog and wants 'teachers' (read 'foreigners') to write pieces and make short films to fill it. Is this this really your kindly benefactors attempting to give away prizes in return for your creativity? Seems strange... they've never encouraged your creativity before... Or is this, on the other hand, an attempt to have the already stretched engine stokers become the company marketing men too. Hmm, I know Mister Company President Sir, if we insert a broom in their bathing suit area maybe they'll mop the floor at the same time. Here's the poster that was faxed to every branch today:"All [chain school] instructors (who are left) are invited to enter the My Japan short film competition (ostensibly) for a chance to win a great prize (in exchange for their integrity and self respect). We are looking for original short films (aka, recruitment videos) of your daily life, artistic interpretations, or so | | Viral Marketing for B2B Lead Generation, Part 3: Caveats and Links 2007-08-06 06:33:00 Viral marketing campaigns can work for B2B lead generation with the right media and promotional methods. Even with the most careful planning and execution, however, not every campaign will be a huge success. Here are some considerations to keep in mind when design viral marketing programs:Viral Marketing CaveatsTo maximize your odds of success with viral marketing, create a yearly plan for viral campaigns (the operating principle here is that even baseball's best sluggers don't get a hit every time they step up to the plate, but more at-bats generally means more hits).Humorous campaigns are the most likely to be passed around—but white papers or other content that addresses real-world business problems and solutions are more likely to drive responses from IT buyers and influencers.Very few viral campaigns really “explode” online; half produce a decent return, but less than 1 out of a hundred is a true “home run.”Avoid using a committee to create viral campaigns; these have | | Marketing Gifts that Promote Your Company 2007-08-03 13:01:00 Businesses often give away free pens, t-shirts, hats, bags and just about anything else in order to promote their products. These promotional items might give a high return for their cost or they may just cost much more then they are worth. Determining why you want to give products away and which type of products to purchase can be difficult. The Right Gift for the Right Customers:People often judge a company by the free trinkets it gives away. Therefore giving away a t-shirt to a bunch of executives isn’t likely to raise your image. In the same train of thought giving away a solid gold watch to people who drink your brand of beer is overkill. You might want to switch the two. Most companies have a customer profile that includes income, demographics, occupation, etc. The general rule is that the higher the station in life the customer, the more purchasing power they have and the higher in value the gift. Therefore you would spend much more on higher end clients then you would on people | | Blog Your Way to Network Marketing Riches 2007-08-02 22:08:51 Everyone is talking about blog today. Well, there are ways that you can change that even on a small marketing budget. We will review each of the strategies you can use to promote your website, and then we will try to assimilate them into a single, uniform strategy that is both highly effective and affordable.First of all, TV commercials, radio ads, and print advertising are very expensive. This is undoubtedly the best way to launch a business, but the costs are prohibitive. A full page ad in a prominent magazine or other publication can run as high as $50,000 per ad. TV commercials can run just as high; if the commercial runs during a popular television show or sporting event, the cost will be enormous. So, if you do not have enough money in the coffers for traditional advertising, you will likely have to use online marketing. This is not a bad thing. Offline advertising (i.e. radio, TV, print ads) is sometimes not effective. Once again, these recommendations are based on personal experience as well as research from the experts at MarketingSherpa.Top Viral Promotion TacticsSending an email to a house list is the most commonly-used form of viral promotion. It's not the the most effective tactic, but nearly everyone does this because it costs virtually nothing. Obviously, this tactic isn't available to start-up companies that haven't built a house list over time, and emailing to a rented list should always be done with great caution.Getting mentioned by relevant and influential bloggers is one of the most productive means of viral promotion (and free, other than the outreach effort). Seriously Intel, do you guys really like getting complaints and negative light in the media? It’s as if you’re loving all this bad publicity. Their latest attempt to shine like a rock is with their new advert, which in my opinion, screams the slave trade. Don’t get me wrong, I hope I’m sure they didn’t mean to make it look so blatent or bad, but with six athletic black males kneeling down before a white geek in tight pants, what are we meant to think?
On a positive note, it does make me want to get Intel’s Core 2 Duo, which is what it’s there for. Spring up the comments guys- what do you think? Subliminal racism or just silly mistakes? Let us know how you feel.
