In the latest of a series of complaints, iPhone users are reporting that sections of the screen go dead Apple was today monitoring the latest mini-crisis to hit its much-hyped iPhone after some users began reporting that the touchscreen did not work.Threads on several Apple forums – including the company’s own – have been devoted to the problem, which causes parts of the device’s screen to go ‘dead’ and stop responding to the touch of a finger. Typically the dead spot is a strip about half an inch wide that runs the width of the iPhone’s screen as it is held vertically, users experiencing the problem said. In one case, the strip ran across the Unlock button, which meant that the user was unable to answer the phone when it rang. “On the main screen, I can’t hit the button for clock, calculator, notes of settings,” ‘Gwas’, a user of the Apple-dedicated site Mac Rumors, wrote. “For text messages, I can’t hit the send button. I thought this was interesting. Apple reduced the price of thier beloved iPhone down from $600 to $400. Now a lot of people are probably happy...if they haven't already got one of them yet. But the current owners of the phone have been really angry, mostly because the price was lowered 2 months after they spent their $600 on a device that's now $200 less. So, Steve Jobs decided to respond by giving every iPhone user a $100 certificate towards any Apple product in one of thier many stores. Now, this means theoretically, you could get a $300 iPhone, with $100 worth of accessories.Or you could put the $100 towards one of the new iPods if that's what you fancy. At the recent Apple event CEO Steve Jobs has just announced that the 8GB iPhone will have a price drop of $200, so now the cell phone will only cost you $399. Steve also said that the 4GB iPhone will be dropped, so once current stocks have been sold they will be no more. Like I have always said “It does not pay to be the first person the purchase a product,” I have proven this time and time again. How sick must those people feel who bought the first 8GB iPhone for $600. Apple has said that they are on track to sell their one millionth iPhone by the end of September, and they just want the high sales figures to just get better, and announcing a price cut before the holiday season is one sure way of doing this. There is much speculation surrounding the upcoming Apple Event, we know that they will announce something new and great but what has sparked of many debates. Many believe that Apple will announce a 6th Generation iPod as that is the most obvious, but other rumors going around is that there could be some new upgrades for the iPhone or that they are going to announce that Beatles content will be available on Apple’s iTunes. The Apple even which is being held at San Francisco Moscone Convention Center is being titled “The Beat Goes On.” As we said the event will probably be to show off a new iPod as the 5th generation iPod which came with video support, as it has been out for a few years now. You read that right. The Iphone is now available in China. For the Chinese who are willing to shell out a whopping US$1,170, they can buy the iPhone at electronics markets in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou. With all the hype of it's availability in China, there's just one catch, it Iphone could not receive calls. The all hyped-up phone-slash-everything has not been configured with the major telecoms provider in China. Samsung used to be a joke when it came to cell phones many years ago, but times have changed and they seem to be releasing new phones every month. We now have the Samsung Croix, which Samsung believe will be able to do battle with the Apple iPhone. The Samsung Croix has a brand new touch screen, the interface that this new cell phone uses in called Croix which means cross in French. The Samsung Croix has started its early like well by winning an iF Communication Design Award 2007. Although Samsung have said that the new Samsung Croix will do battle with the iPhone, it is not known how long we will have to wait until Samsung release their new touch screen mobile phone. But one thing is certain the interface is very clean and easy to use, so let us hope that this will give them a fighting chance against the Apple iPhone.
