Chrysler's first hybrid vehicles available in North America will come in the form of the Dodge Durango and it's blinged out counterpart: the Chrysler Aspen. Both SUVs will feature the infamous 5.7 liter V8 HEMI engine with Multi-displacement System (MDS) and a two-mode hybrid system. The hybrid system was developed in conjunction with General Motors and the BMW Group.Power will come from the electric motors alone, the 5.7 liter HEMI engine or any combination of the two. In addition, two electronic continuously variable transmission (ECVT) modes as well as a transmission with four forward gears are also available. "The all-new Chrysler Group HEMI Hybrid will offer our customers the best of both worlds: renowned performance and significantly improved fuel economy," said Frank Klegon, Executive VP of Product Development f | | Hybrid Tea Rose ?Mr. Lincoln? 1969-12-31 17:59:59 Hybrid Tea Rose ?Mr. Lincoln?Rosa (RO-zuh)Rosaceae (ro-ZAY-see-ay)This is my first spring writing this blog and I can see it going to be overwhelming to describe everything that is going on the garden right now. I want to thank everyone who leaves a comment. I sometimes don?t get notified by email that there are comments but I do appreciate your input. What a difference a weekend makes. Everything exploded in flowers and growth here in Connecticut over the weekend. Just a short list of what is blooming at the Estate now:Around 6,000 of the 10,000 daffodils. All types and heights. There aren?t any big plantings, mostly in small groups of single cultivars. I once had the idea of photographing every type of Daffodil in this garden and after trying one year I said forget it. 4 or 5 types of Magnolia including the dark purple ?Rikki?.One of my favorite groundcovers, Creeping Veronica (Veronica umbrosa 'Georgia Blue'). Not invasive like some Veronicas, beautiful.Okame Cherry. There is quite | | Hybrid Tea Rose 'Double Delight' 1969-12-31 17:59:59 Hybrid Tea RoseRosa 'Double Delight'(RO-zuh)I went to get a few roses yesterday. The nursery had them but after waiting 25 minutes for a salesman (and having two people in front of me still waiting) I abandoned the idea. They had a nice selection of varieties. I took a couple of pictures while I was waiting. This one of ?Double Delight? came out the best, even though the flower is going by. It is a classic Hybrid Tea Rose with a strong fragrance and great colors. It hasn?t been disease resistant for me in the past. Roses are the only plant that I break my no-preventive pesticide applications on. It is virtually impossible to grow roses in Connecticut without a spray program. I take care of 3 small rose gardens (24, 20, 12 plants, respectively) and I have been using the Bayer All-in-One instead of spraying. In one garden not only am I battling black spot and aphids but deer too. They love to strip the buds right before they bloom. I haven?t seen ?Cary Grant? or ?Playboy? this year but these two were blooming. ?Fragrant Cloud? is a hybrid tea rose with outstanding color and a strong fragrance. Mathias Tantau bred this rose in Germany in 1963. I didn?t think it was that old. The large blossoms are a real treat and can perfume a whole room when cut for the house. This rose has gotten black spot and mildew in my garden.Parentage: Seedling × Prima BallerinaPetal Count: 30Synonyms: Duftwolke, Fragrant Cloud '84, Nuage Parfumé, TANellisThere is only one climbing rose on the entire estate, ?Joseph?s Coat?. It has fantastic color on the flowers but it does have a lot of disease problems. It is also one of the thorniest roses I know of. It is not as vigorous as some climbers I have seen and seems to need a little more pruning than most. It is slightly fragrant and has a petal count of around 25. While we knew some kind of alternative Fusion was on the books for 2009, we weren't certain about many of the details. Ray's celebrity mole at Ford says the automaker is pushing for LA, which makes sense considering Arnold's peeps are a wee bit more eco-friendly than us Michiganders, where our lawmakers still hesitate to legislate any greener lest it hurt the bottom line of a few of the state's biggest employers.Read More
