That is a new kind of hard disk - one part is like a usually hard disk and the second part (the new one) is a flash memory. The flash memory should buffer the data during normal use. And if the PC go to the sleep mode the data will be stored there and after the weak up the PC should go to the normal state much faster. OK that is what the manufacturer promise to you but is that really true?I tested it here yesterday. In fact there is not much difference to a normal hard disk but the price!Even the weak up after a sleep mode I can´t see any acceleration. I think the problem is the too small flash memory. Because if you have 1-2GB of RAM and only a 256-512MB flash memory in that disk that is really to small! I guess a 4GB or more flash memory would fix the problem. So we have to wait for the next generation of such hybrid drives. | | Hybrid Tea Rose ‘Sweet Surrender’ 2007-09-23 11:33:00 Hybrid Tea Rose ‘Sweet Surrender’This site seems to be loading real slowly over the last couple of days. My apologies for that. I took off some of the widgets and don’t know if I found the problem. I see quite a few people signed up for subscriptions to this blog through feedburner and for that thanks. Yesterday was the first day I figured out how to get it working. I am not sure if anybody else is like me in the fact that some areas of technology I can master easily but other areas less so. I tend to avoid those areas but when I tried feedburner again it seemed easy to set up, maybe since I am using Firefox now.Yesterday after a few work appointments I decided to drive up to Hyde Park, New York. I have been working one day a week up there at a large horse farm. It really is a beautiful area and not too far from my house. Apparently Toyota VP Kazuo Okamoto gave a presentation on September 3rd in which he declared that Toyotas approach of improving battery back range and adding plug-in to the conventional parallel hybrid design was superior to GMs series hybrid design (Chevy Volt)
This was apparently stated in the context of a presentation to investors and is reported on the Green Car Congress website. The whole presentation is here.
There is no clear rationale behind this statement. It is obvious though that the reason Toyota thinks that the Volt approach is inferior, is that they didnt think of it first!
Clearly Toyota is in a catch-up spot, and they are among other things, trying to reassure investors. In the graphic above, that’s the Volt on the left.

I hope that over in the UK they will pioneer many things that we in the US cannot because of legal issues and a crazed moral majority that is delusional. They have a serious advantage and a great opportunity ahead of them. LOTS of money to be made if they have breakthroughs. This sounds like we could do it here in the US too because as soon as you remove the information from the animal embryo - it is 99.9% human apparently! See the graphic on the article... Scientists say the creation of hybrid embryos has the potential to revolutionize the treatment of debilitating diseases which affect millions. But opponents believe mixing of human and animal genetic material defies nature. They are also unhappy about the destruction of embryos that such research inevitably entails. Toyota Motor Europe has something to celebrate as their Toyota and Lexus hybrid vehicles top the 100,000 mark in European sales. The vehicles were launched way back in 2001 and have taken six years to sell 101,235 vehicles, and these figures are set to climb quickly as more people go for the hybrid option.
The biggest seller when it comes to these green cars is the Toyota Prius, which has seen sold over 73,000 units since 2000 in Europe. The Lexus LS 600h has helped with the 27,000 sales that the company has achieved in Europe. Both Toyota and Lexus expect to sell about 1.22 million vehicles annual, and out of that sales figure the both expect at least 44,500 of them to be hybrids.
At the moment both these automakers have four different hybrid vehicles on the European market, one of which uses the Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive and the other being the Lexus Hybrid Drive technology. Globally hybrids sales have been increasing as well as total hybrid sales have now hit the one million.
Wri | | Honda Tries to Re-enter Hybrid War With the “Global Small Hybrid” 2007-08-30 08:40:08
The Honda Insight was the first hybrid in the U.S. market in 1999. Now, it is of course discontinued, beaten along with it’s brethren the Civic and Accords hybrids, by the Toyota Prius models of which outsell all the Hondas by 5 to 1.
Honda wont go down without a fight, and is now planning a new comeback breakthrough car. Details are non-existent, but the new car code-named “Global Smal Hybrid” is expected to hit the streets in 2009, and have the highest fuel efficiency of any car on the road.
You can read the whole Newsweek article here.
It’s pretty clear the hybrid/electric market is going to be heating up faster than your laptop’s lithium-ion battery pack, so let’s hope we get those Volts on the road!
| | Kingsley Coach RV MPG ratings set to increase in the teens thanks to hybrid or hydrogen powerplants 2007-08-29 06:33:41
So many people complain about the poor fuel figures of the Hummer but nobody seems to attack the poor figures that an RV has. The thin is RV’s only manages to have about half the fuel efficiency as a Hummer but that is about to change, as Kingsley Coach are looking to produce an RV with either a hybrid or hydrogen assisted powerplants.
It is hoped that by doing this these RV’s should return MPG figures somewhere in the mid teens. If they were to go with the electric hybrid option then it will work just like the Honda Prius does, but Kingsley Coach are also looking at a hydrogen system, which uses a hydrogen injection system instead of the fuel cell option. If they go for the hydrogen version then you could see fuel savings of up to 15 percent, but if they were to go with the hybrid version then you would see a fuel saving of at least 35 percent.
But Kingsley Coach are looking for other ways to become a more green option, as they would like to us solar panels on the roof’s of the | | Hybrid Tea Rose 'Peace' and Middle Name Meme 2007-08-26 08:20:00 Hybrid Tea Rose 'Peace'Synonyms: Béke, Fredsrosen, Gioia, Gloria Dei, Madame Antoine Meilland, 3-35-40Introduced in the U.S.: 1945 by Conard-Pyle (Star Roses)Size and Petal Count: 6 inch flowers with 43 petalsFragrant? : Yes, strongI took this picture to please myself. A day.
That’s enough fuel to fill-up all the Tundra’s sold in June 07′. It’s enough fuel to coat a standard football field in 17 inches of fuel (trying running a sweep in that mess). It’s also enough fuel to drive your new Tundra for the next 720 years.
In other words, it’s a lot. Too much if you ask the US Army. Considering that 70% of what the Army hauls to the battlefield is fuel (not ammo, not food, but fuel), any opportunities to reduce fuel consumption are investigated seriously. That’s why the Army gave Quantum Technologies of Irvine, CA a $4.88 million contract to develop this prototype:
Just kidding — that’s the Warthog from Halo. Here’s the REAL prototype:
You can see how we might get the two confused.

Well we know that the world has gone green made, especially the auto industry with their hybrid vehicles. Well it seems as if the American Army is embracing the idea, we know they have been developing a Hybrid Hummer, but now they have a hybrid vehicle with a bit more power behind it a tank.
BAE Systems have been developing the hybrid tank for the army, which is to form part of the army’s future combat systems. The batteries which are to be used in this ground combat vehicle are being made in Detroit. The army believes that these hybrid tanks and hummer are very important, as they are more fuel efficient so there will be less fuel lines needed, and that means that less army troops will be put in danger.
The army should be using the first hybrid tank by 2008, and will feature a Non-Line-of-Sight Cannon; there will also be a 155mm self-propelled howitzer as its main gun.

| | Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell: a green couple who share a Toyota Prius Hybrid 2007-08-17 05:57:02
We always get reports of Hollywood stars who own a hybrid vehicle, but we never see them out in these green vehicles much. Well Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell is a couple with a difference, as they own a Toyota Prius Hybrid vehicle and get this that both actually share the vehicle.
We have known for a while now that Rebecca was the green one of the family, and that has now rubbed off on husband Jerry. O’Connell has got right into the global warming issue, that if he sees that people do not recycle he get very angry with them.
Keeping with the whole green issue with cars, Jerry O’Connell is currently working on a new film called, what for it Carpoolers. I wonder if he uses a Hybrid Prius in the movie.

| | Honda Civic hybrid: Tax credits on hybrids about to expire 2007-08-15 07:14:40
If like so many other you was thinking of purchasing a hybrid vehicle like the Honda Civic, consumers will be taking a hard look at weighing up if it is now worth all that extra expense, especially when tax credits on hybrids are about to expire and the fact that the price of gallon of gas has now gone down 23 cents.
But Hybrid cars are still a good option, ok so you might not get as much tax back when you file your tax returns. However when you see that in only a few days many hurricanes have formed, it only takes one of them to hit an oil refinery and you will see the price of your gas rise that is when you wish that you were driving around in your Honda Civic hybrid.
