The much rumored Google announcement was today, and it most definitely is not the GPhone - Per Se. Google announced a new open mobile operating system called Android. It will be Google based, have an SDK and have all the Google applications you know and love. I haven't read much about, and there really isn't all that much information other than it will be no single phone. There will be multiple GPhones, from different manufacturers and cell carriers. The first being released on T-Mobile in 2008. Today is a good day for cell phones. Soon mobile devices will be open to use on any network, and possibly for free (best case scenario). Google will be holding a conference call at noon eastern to unveil the details of its long-rumored Android mobile operating system. Joining CEO Eric Schmidt will be other members of the 34-member Open Handset Alliance, including the chief executives of Deutche Telekom, HTC, Qualcomm, and Motorola.
