| Bourne Series vs Star Wars and The Godfather: Best American Film Trilogy 2007-08-10 14:06:30
Today I came across an interesting article that states that the Bourne trilogy is better than the Star Wars Trilogy and The Godfather (I immediately thought what a load of…).
They then explained they were not talking about the individual films as The Empire Strikes Back or The Godfather would beat any one of the Bourne movies hands down.
Instead they were talking about the way they work as a cohesive trilogy and it’s this combination that gives the Bourne trilogy its brilliance and quality.
It’s a great read which you can see in full here, have a read and let us know what you think with a comment below.
My opinion still stands that nothing can touch Star Wars.

| 10 RULES of Indian Film making 2007-08-10 07:17:50 1.)Two brothers separated in childhood will always grow up on different sides of the law. The law-breaker, however, will suddenly turn over a new leaf before the end, bash up the villain (who is the *real* bad guy), and be pardoned for all his sins before the last-scene family reunion. (This is possible only if he has a heroine - see rule 2 below).
2.) If the number of heroes is not equal to the number of heroines, the excess heroes/heroines will a) die b) join the Red Cross and take off to Switzerland before the end of the movie.
3.)If there are 2 heroes in a movie, they will fight each other savagely for at least 5 minutes (10 if they are brothers).

| Live-Action Voltron film looks set to go 2007-08-10 07:10:27
New Regency is close to deal with the Mark Gordon Company to bring Voltron: Defender of the Universe to the big screen. The live-action project was in development since 2004 but is now fast-tracked due to the success of Michael Bay’s Transformers.
The animated television series was popular in the 1980’s and will probably do very well when it hit’s the cinemas. Justin Marks (He-Man) penned the screenplay which is described as a post-apocalyptic tale set in New York City and Mexico. “Five ragtag survivors of an alien attack come together and end up piloting the five lion-shaped robots that combine and form the massive sword-wielding Voltron that helps battle Earth’s Invaders.”
Marks is also currently working on SuperMax and a new version of Street Fighter.
This movie could be very cool indeed, as long as it isn’t aimed primarily at little children. I think, like Transformers, the audience should be for anybody and everybody as the concept of this film could prove very succ |
| Thursday Thirteen 24 - Girls On Film (Two Minutes Later) 2007-08-09 00:32:00 There are a surprising number of good movies that are coming out that I am looking forward to. Y'all got a preview with my lastest WW but something tells me the ladies will not mind if I repeat myself ;)Death At A Funeral - I am a SUCKER for the British comedy. I love them. I am a self admitted Anglophile. The only thing this one looks like it is missing is Hugh Grant. I love Hugh Grant...Control - This is a niche movie and probably will have most of you scratching your heads, but Kidlet and I are so looking forward to this. Ian Curtis was the lead singer of the band Joy Division in the late 70's until he commited suicide in May of 1980. Joy Division is best known for the song Love Will Tear Us Apart and for the re-emergence of the remaining band members as New Order. Joy Division are arguably the font of what is called modern Goth music with actually being Goth themselves. Ian wrote the script that Kurt would later follow.Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten - What is there to say |

| Disney buy film rights for Dangerous Book For Boys 2007-08-07 12:28:49
Producer Scott Rudin and Disney have picked up the rights to the best-selling book, The Dangerous Book for Boys by brothers Conn and Hal Iggulden. It is reported that several studios were eyeing up the right to the film in spite of the fact that there isn’t really that much of a story.
The book is written in a “how-to” format, with chapters on topics like “Building a Treehouse,” “Skimming Stones,” “Making a Go-Cart,” and “Girls”.
Publisher HarperCollins has said,
In this digital age there is still a place for knots, skimming stones and stories of incredible courage. This book recaptures Sunday afternoons, stimulates curiosity, and makes for great father-son activities. The brothers Conn and Hal have put together a wonderful collection of all things that make being young or young at heart fun—building go-carts and electromagnets, identifying insects and spiders, and flying the world’s best paper airplanes.

| HIV medics story will be made into film 2007-08-07 12:16:38
Plans are in the works to make a film about the sex Bulgarian medics who were jailed in Libya for deliberately infecting children with HIV. The five nurses and Palestinian-born doctor served eight years of their life sentences and always maintained they were innocence.
It was only last month they were released from prison after Libya and the EU spent years negotiating the issue. The film will also focus on the children infected with HIV.
The medical professionals said they were tortured into confessing to deliberately infecting hundreds in 1998. They were freed into Bulgarian custody in July and were immediately pardoned.
The movie will be made by Sixth Sense Procuctions, the same company that was involved with the Oscar-nominated genocide drama Hotel Rwanda. Dr Zdravko Georgiev, husband of one of the nurses said,“The world will see the truth. The world must see the truth. Such a case doesn’t happen every day,”

| Film response: New Czech film, Empties 2007-08-01 07:01:00 ?? Worth Seeing
Czech title, Vratné lahve, 2007
Directed by Jan Sverák
Written by Zdenek Sverák
If I'd seen Vratné lahve at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, where it won both the audience award and a special award for screenwriting, I probably would have been disappointed. Not because it's bad, but because, when I'm at the film festival, my expectations are high, and it's just not that good.
However, yesterday I watched it in a theater full of Prague Czechs, and Marek. He enjoyed...

| Canadian Universal Healthcare is a Miserable Failure and why Michael Moore and his Film, “Sicko” are Wrong 2007-07-29 13:52:00 If you want to find the real story of Canada’s failed Universal Healthcare system, look no further than America’s boarder cities. The Buffalo News just reported a story about, Lindsay McCreith, a 66 year-old Canadian retired auto body shop owner. This story, accurately reported by Henry L. Davis, demonstrates why Michael Moore’s new propaganda film, “Sicko” is patently misleading.McCreith experienced seizures on Jan. 2, 2006, and was diagnosed with a benign tumor based on a CT scan. A physician at a Canadian hospital declined to order an MRI to rule out a malignancy. McCreith’s family doctor agreed to request the more-definitive scan, but McCreith was told he would have to wait over four months for the appointment.According to McCreith, had he been patient and followed the Canadian system, he would have died. Instead, McCreith went to Buffalo to receive treatment the very next day. In Buffalo, he was told he had a malignant tumor, which required a biopsy. After tryin |
