Wes Anderson’s latest film, The Darjeeling Limited, is to be accompanied by a 12-minute short called Hotel Chevalier. This is said to be a prequel to the main feature. Now I can reveal that the short film will star two very big names. Natalie Portman and Jason Schwartzman apparently star in the short film. Portman also features briefly in the main film, The Darjeeling Limited. The short film takes place in one room of a French hotel (Hotel Chevalier no less!) and serves as “a short epilogue of one heartbreaking history of love and the prologue of the travel told in ‘The Darjeeling Limited.” Hotel Chevalier will screen in the upcoming Venice Film Festival. Tom Cruise’s new film “Valkryie” is under way in Berlin and it looks like no one is safe, well except for the famous, according to local law enforcement: The 11 [actors/extras] fell from the truck when a side panel burst open as it drove around a corner in central Berlin on Sunday evening, police said. One of them was seriously hurt and had to remain in hospital. Filming was halted after the accident. “We have no findings to suggest anyone famous was involved in the accident,” said a police spokesman, adding he did not know whether it would affect the shoot this week. Oh thank goodness. When they said someone was hurt and sent to the hospital I was terrified that it might be someone of value and worth to society. Thankfully though it didn’t involve anyone famous which makes me question why they didn’t just put the guy down right there in the street and leave him for the wild animals to carry off. It’s been known for a while that this year’s 51st London Film Festival will open with David Cronenberg’s Eastern Promises. Now, the closing gala has been announced as well and it’s the much-anticipated Wes Anderson’s move, The Darjeeling Limited. The movie stars Adrien Brody, Owen Wilson and Jason Schwartzman as three brothers who travel to India in an attempt to rediscover their family bond, only to find events veering off-course and themselves stranded in the middle of a desert with “eleven suitcases, a printer and a laminating machine”. Sandra Hebron, Festival Artistic Director has said of the selection, ““Wes Anderson and his knockout cast are at their sparkling best in The Darjeeling Limited, and we’re very excited to be closing our Festival with this original and hugely enjoyable film from one of our favourite auteurs.” The gala takes place on Thursday November 1st with Anderson (at least) attending. Yamadonga is the socio-fantasy Telugu film which is to be released this month. It is directed by S.S Rajamouli and produced by American businessman Cherry and his wife Urmila Gangaraju. It has been Sixteen years since the release of the original film and now New Line Cinema has brought a feature film adaptation of the Tony Award winning Broadway production of Hairspray to life. Featuring new and original material based on John Waters’ 1988 cult classic about star-struck teenagers on a local Baltimore dance show. I must say that I went to see this film last night with my husband and daughter and it was fantastic it made you want to get up and dance a long we are going out to but the soundtrack very soon and will most defiantly go and see that musical one day. Talking about the new script he says, “I’ve written another crazy wild funny action script that could be ‘Shoot ‘Em Up’ if I made a few alterations. You’re not going to see me be the guy that genre hops because my favorite genre is the action movie. Bill O’Reilly has claimed that The Simpsons Movie is “more realistic” than The Bourne Ultimatum. In his latest column (The Bourne Buffoonery), O’Reilly calls the film “Unpatriotic”. “I knew this movie was trouble when I read the reviews. Almost all the critics liked it. It has been reported that JJ Abrams wants to cast Russell Crowe as the villain in the upcoming Star Trek movie. Russell Crowe isn’t the only star JJ Abrams wants to appear in the movie, JJ Abrams has also roped Tom Cruise into playing a cameo role in the film. It’s not the first time that the series has tried to cast big names, Jude Law was asked to be in “Star Trek: Nemesis” in 2002, Tom Hanks was approached for the role of Zephram Cochrane in “Star Trek: First Contact” in 1996 and Eddie Murphy’s name was put forward for the role of a professor concerned with UFO’s who spots the de-cloaking Klingon ship at the Super Bowl in “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home” in 86.
