Following the news that Paramount would no longer support the Blu-ray format Bay had declared he would no longer be back to destroy direct Transformers 2. This is bad news for Blue-Ray, there will be no Blue-Ray version of Shrek 3 or Transformers. It’s not all bad news though, Spielberg directed movies such as the Indiana Jones trilogy will remain in multi-format form. En la guerra de formatos de nueva generación, que a mi parecer tienen las que perder en los dos casos en favor de los contenidos vía Internet, ya tenemos un nuevo capítulo que podemos calificar como mínimo de sorprendente. Al menos yo no esperaba el espaldarazo que le han dado importantes productoras como Paramount, DreamWorks o la MTV, al formato que promueve Toshiba, el HD DVD. Así, desde estas empresas se dará prioridad a los lanzamientos en el formato HD DVD, según ellos porque el coste es menor y porque el cambio de tecnología es menos traumático con este formato. Estas conclusiones las han determinado tras estudiar a fondo el mercado actual. A confined setting is a useful tool for thriller-makers, and Vacancy is definitely boxed in: a rundown motel way, way off the Interstate, the kind of place where unsuspecting movie characters go to get stabbed to death in the shower. If Vacancy doesn’t quite live up to its Hitchcockian forbears, at least it provides 80 minutes of well-designed mayhem. You know somebody’s paying attention just from the opening credits, a clever vortex with pounding music by Paul Haslinger. Meet Joe Black on HD-DVD is the high definition 1998 remake of Death Takes a Holiday which was released in 1934. It had previously been released in 1971 under the original title. Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins star in the movie which surprisingly was a Box Office Bomb and took in only half of it’s $90 million budget. It still remains, to this day, the most expensive film made that does not have extensive special effects. The film has been released on HD DVD which is brilliant news to everyone who was a fan of the movie. It’s is one of the must have’s for your HD DVD collection. On the DVD, picture quality, as expected, is phenomenal but the voices could do with having a little higher volume. Overall, the sound is sharp and responsive and makes you feel like you are actually in the movie.
