Tundra Tailgate Design Flaw Update
In response to some questions about our last Tundra Tailgate post, we’ve done some more investigating, and we think we’ve figured out how why you should never drive with your Tundra’s tailgate unsecured. 1. The gas strut assist. The Tundra’s tailgate is slam-proof because a gas strut (hidden inside the wall of the bed) reduces the effect weight of the tailgate as well as dampens any rapid movement. There is an un-intended consequence here: if the tailgate isn’t secured (i.e. in the closed position OR locked in the down position by the bed-extender or some weight) it may “levitate” at the removal angle. 2. Tailgate removal without tools. Try this experiment: Lower your Tundra’s tailgate. Now, with it in the down position, “throw” the tailgate up into the air. When you get the force right, you’ll find that it will “hover” at about a 45 degree angle for a second or two. Keep in mind that 45 degrees is the angle

GM-Volt EXCLUSIVE!: Brand New Interview with Bob Boniface, GM Director of Volt Design on the Production Model Volt
Bob Boniface and his creation I just had the opportunity to discuss the latest developments in the design of the production Chevrolet Volt with Mr. Boniface. He was formerly director of advanced design but in April/May of this year, as part of the Volt momentum, his title has been changed to GM director of E-Flex/Volt Studio. We had a 30 minute discussion which can be heard in its entirety following the post either in the player here or you can download it. Mr. Boniface is responsible for the overall design of the Volt including both it’s interior and exterior. We spoke about the origin of the Volt concept coming directly from Bob Lutz in February 06, his idea being to do a car that re-established GM as the technological leader, to skip the hybrid model (too easy) and go directly to electric drive, and make it sell. Mr. Boniface had just completed the Camaro’s design when he started on the Volt. He says the design goal was to make the car something people wanted to own

Retro Logos and Design: Seeing Past the Gimmick
There's been a trend recently (or maybe it's cyclical) in favor of retro logos. And why not? There's something comforting and satisfying about design that hearkens back to an earlier era, especially if you're someone who's inclined to imagine a past that was simpler and somehow more solid than our modern age. But just as that kind of reasoning (the world used to be better, cleaner, easier, more honest, more fun, or what-have-you) has an awful lot of logical flaws, there's also something that gets a flimsy, a little silly about too much emphasis on campy, retro design. Still, all is not lost, and there's a difference between facile nostalgia and a serious appreciation for the myriad of useful, lasting design concepts that have stood the test of time. Things like hand-drawing, simple geometric forms, solid colors, and classic fonts are still appealing for a reason. And just as we shouldn't lean too heavily on the (perhaps temporarily) revived interest in designs that shout

Tundra Design Flaw: NEVER Drive Your Tundra Tailgate Down!
Glenn sent us this note, and we think every Tundra owner should know about this. Thanks Glenn for taking the time to share. Here’s Glenn’s story: ********** OUCH!!! I put my tailgate down on my 07 Tundra Crewmax, and forgot about it being down, as I was involved in something that diverted my attention away from the open tailgate. I drove away not realizing it was still down. As I went down the street and over a bump in the road, I heard some banging, so I pulled over only to find my tailgate hanging from the support strap wires, and slapping against the back of the truck! Thankfully, I found a place to pull over immediately, and that I had all the windows, including the window facing the bed down, so I could hear it. Both tail light lenses are now damaged, but luckily, the tailgate itself and the bumper do not seem to be damaged much, except for minor paint damage on the inside of the tailgate. At least not that I can tell at this point. Page 35 of the operators manual says

Like in face to face meetings, first imprisons count in website designs too. People who visit a website form their impression about the look of websites in initial few seconds. This impression is also carried to the product and or service the website is offering. Which is why the design of a website is an important factor? The essence of good website design is to deliver your business message in a well balanced and subtle fashion within the framework set out by your business requirements. There are many factors that make for a good design, presentation of a web site being one of the most important ones. Given the increasing competition for the internet marketing, it only makes sense to design a website as much relevant, search engines friendly, users’ friendly and in consonance with the business objectives as one can.Good professional designers have training, experience and expertise to make such design by integrating the optimization strategies into a design that will often have rath
