Lenevo To Sell Thinkpad Laptops with Linux, Similar to Dell, Acer
Many computer manufacturers are recently turning to a different operating system, disappointed with the recent Windows Vista. As a result of this, Linux has been gaining more and more popularity over the past few weeks with companies like Dell and Acer trying out and testing their consumers with a different OS. Recently, Lenevo, the world’s number three PC maker has announced its efforts to go Linux, allowing a few of it’s laptops to go linux in the fourth quarter of this year, being sold to businesses and consumers alike. Undoubtedly, the Linux operating system has been one of the fastest growing operating systems of all time, with huge successes still to come. What do you think of the recent opening to linux? Do you think a global switch to linux would be beneficial? Or should we stick to Windows? Written by Ryan for Product ReviewsIn Sections: Laptops, Software
Is Dell really planning its own Wi-Fi PMP?
There are a lot of speculations flying around at the moment in where Dell announced their plans to acquire Zing, which basically means in my eyes that Dell are planning their very own Wi-Fi PMP. Zing is the technology company who make the platform for SanDisk’s Sansa Connect wireless music player. The press release which is shown below does not show a lot of details, but what I am gathering is that Dell plans to use Zing and its technology to continue improving the entertainment experiences they provide to their customers. There are a few questions that need answering which are – 1. Is Dell really planning its own Wi-Fi PMP? 2. What will the PMP look like? Dell Latitude D830 Laptop Review
The successor to the D820, the Dell Latitude D830 sports Intel’s new Santa Rosa platform along with same old ugly design we’re used to. However, the updated version, starting at $899 and along with Dell’s reliable name, I’m sure it’ll do fine. As we all know, most Dell products boast full customisability, which is probably why it’s so popular. Dell Wanting Better Linux Drivers
It seems like Dell really have taken a liking to the open-source operating system, Linux. Amit Bhutani told a session at the Ubuntu Live 2007 conference that Dell has several “areas of investigation” when it comes to Linux. What on earth that’s supposed to mean, we’re not sure. What’s certain is that Dell have been making a lot of room recently for Linux, especially with their recent efforts to bring on this new, favourite operating system. As reported on the Phoronix website, Dell wants better support for audio/video codecs, printers, ATI video cards, wireless networking, TV tuners and remotes, LCD TVs, projectors and 3D effects. Bhutani apparently told attendees at the session that “Dell knows that it will not happen overnight”. Written by Ryan for Product ReviewsIn Sections: Computers, Computer Hardware, Linux

Dell Goes Retail in Japan: Using Bic Camera
As of August, Dell’s XPS M1330, Inspiron 1520, and Inspiron 6400 laptops, along with its Inspiron 530s desktop may be stocked in Bic Camera retail stores. Today, the company announced that they will be teaming up with Bic Camera, meaning a large number of the Bic Camera stores will be selling dell products very soon in the future. But for all us wanting more of Dell, they tease us by saying ’stay tuned for more’. “Building our global capabilities is a great way for Dell to connect with customers we haven’t necessarily reached in the past, and working with Bic Camera is a logical next step to connect with customers in Japan,” said Chris Cowger, Dell Consumer vice president of business development. It took them long enough to go retail, but it’s always a good sight to see large companies teaming up for the benefit of their consumers, us. Dell Inspiron 531s - CNET editors' review
The new Inspiron 531S is the slimmed-down desktop we've been waiting for from Dell. By finally offering a wireless networking adapter option, Dell lets this small PC preserve the tidy profile lacking in its past attempts at the category. Our $659 config, while a decent enough performer, doesn't distance itself from its lower-priced competition as much as we'd like. What's probably most important is that in its specific category, Dell's new Inspiron offers more flexibility than HP's SlimLine. Of the systems in its class, then, the Inspiron 531S is the model we'd pick. For budget-priced PCs in general, you can get more for your money from other vendors. With this new system, Dell continues its trend of sending us low-priced PCs with AMD processors. The 2.3GHz Athlon 64 X2 4400+ is a solid mainstream part, and matched with 2GB of 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM, a 250GB hard drive, and an integrated GeForce 6150SE graphics chip, the Inspiron 531S handled our benchmark tests as well as we'd expe

La Dell condenada en Rep. Dominicana
Dell Says Goodbye to Dimension Desktops
Dell drops Dimension line after nearly 15 years of service When Dell announced new Inspiron desktops yesterday, many people were puzzled by the naming. Dell's Inspiron nomenclature had traditionally been reserved for mainstream notebooks while the Dimension line has consisted of mainstream desktops. But alas; the Dimension brand is no more and it has been fully supplanted by Inspiron desktops. Dell made no formal announcement of its decision to drop the Dimension line even though it has been the backbone of its desktop sales for the past 15 years. Dell's current consumer desktop lineup will now consist of Inspiron, XPS and XPS Gaming desktops. The systems feature base prices of $349, $899 and $1,699 respectively. The new Inspiron desktops can be equipped with either AMD or Intel processors and feature new case designs that are 40% smaller than the previous Dimensions. In addition, selected Inspiron desktop models come pre-loaded with Ubuntu Linux.Reference:Brandon Hi
Dell Launches 13.3" XPS M1330, Inspiron Notebooks
Customization is king with Dell's new line of Santa Rosa notebooks Although Dell's XPS M1330 was leaked to the press earlier this month, today marks the official launch of the new 13.3" Santa Rosa-based notebook. Dell's follow-up to the XPS M1210 measures 12.5" x 9.4" x 1.43" and weighs in at under four pounds. The XPS M1330 is powered by Core 2 Duo processors and backs its 13.3" TrueLife display (LED backlighting is optional) with a 1280x800 screen resolution. The standard graphics solution on the notebook is Intel's X3100 integrated GPU. Paying extra will get you an NVIDIA GeForce Go 8400M GS dedicated graphics card. When it comes to connectivity, Dell provides a wealth of options. There are no less than three WiFi solutions offered (802.11b/g, 802.11a/b/g and 802.11n). Dell also offers an optional broadband modem for Sprint/Verizon (EVDO Rev A) or AT&T (HSDPA). Hardwire connections include two USB 2.0 ports, a Firewire port and HDMI-out. Other niceties includ
