Finding Missing Children with YouTube
YouTube and the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC) have announced a new channel dedicated to broadcasting videos of missing children, called Don’t You Forget About Me. The announcement was made on the 100th day since the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. According to the press release, photographs are currently the most useful tool in finding missing children. It’s only logical that as people are spending more time online, such important information is finding a way to adapt to the new medium. The ICMEC saw YouTube and its growing popularity as a natural means of broadcasting their message. Madeleine’s parents are very enthusiastic about the new venture. The videos are accessible to a much larger audience in a relatively short amount of time. Apart from videos about the missing children, the channel will also feature child safety information and messages of support from high profile people. I think that the channel is a great idea, a

Baptism & Young Children
A quick update here. Grudem responded to Piper’s rebuttal of Grudem’s change of his position on baptism and church membership. (That sentence is a mouthful!) Then Justin Taylor followed that up by highlighting two helpful articles by Vern Poythress. The first one is called “Indifferentism and Rigorism in the Church: With Implications for Baptizing Small Children“, and explores two attitudes to church membership and the nature of faith in little children (ages 2 and up). What Poythress says concerning the church in that paper is worth thinking through irrespective of the baptism position altogether — especially for us fundamentalist types. The second paper is more overtly connected to paedobaptism (Vern Poythress is paedo), and is entitled “Linking Small Children with Infants in the Theology of Baptizing“. It explores the implications of Jesus’ reception of the little children and the nature of our experiencing Jesus in the company of

President Bush should Veto State Children’s Health Insurance Program (S-CHIP)
The House and Senate voted last week over the Bush administrations objections to go ahead and expand the S-CHIP (State Children’s Health Insurance Program), the congress did initially create the program to cover children whose parents were doing rather well to qualify for the Medicaid but not that well to buy their very own insurance. Now they are looking to extend the coverage to these families earning up to 300% of the federal poverty level which is basically just over $60,000 for a family of 4, and with this children up to 25 years old, this is what the expansion Congress is seeking now. A welfare benefit for middle class households is what the Bush administration is calling it and is correct to call it this, and if the final bill comes from the conference which looks anything like the current versions don’t you think President Bush should come good and promise to Vito it. Children Discipline
Discipline in the home and the school has become a major problem and increasing inability and inefficiency in managing children,The traditional rewards and punishments method are no longer effective but also creates a number of problems:1. Punishment has the effect of inviting retaliation. A parent who smacks a boy for hitting his sister and then sends him to his room may find that the boy scribbles all over the wallpaper. What he is saying is: “if you have the right to hurt me, I have the same right to hurt you, your things” Revenge and retaliation are characteristic of children who are controlled by punishment.2. Punishment has the effect of temporarily suppressing behavior but not of eliminating it. A parent who punishes a child for coming home late from school will find that, for a short time, the child will come home on time. But observe the child a few weeks later and you will find the undesired behavior will come back again. More punishment will again temporarily suppre
Teachers say stop bullies targeting children and close down YouTube
Internet bullying has been in the news a lot recently with shocking and disturbing videos being allowed to be broadcast to millions via websites such as YouTube. Now, teachers have kicked out and have demanded that these websites must be closed down to stop bullies targeting children and school staff online. But posting videos of physical bullying isn’t the only way bullies are getting their kicks. Instant messaging, E-mailing and text messaging are the new vessels for bullies who don’t want to be caught in the act. Sites like YouTube make it very easy for perpetrators to broadcast the mobile phone videos, which often show teachers, not just pupils being attacked and humiliated. In a recent investigation, YouTube was questioned about some violent videos showing beatings and even two children with guns acting in a threatening way to other people. Amazingly, YouTube didn’t think that the video with the guns was bad and kept it posted on the site. Now, delegates are backing a motio
Understanding the children’s behaviour
Many parents have difficulties to understand their children’s behaviour. It will be helpful for parents to have the basic knowledge on human behaviour. There are two groups of psychological principles to explain the children behaviour. One is referring to Individual Psychology, which is a view of people which recognises them as active decision makers, as purposeful and goal oriented individuals, free to determine their own behaviour, understood only within their social environment, and the other views on the nature of people exist, sees them as passive products of their environment, motivated by unconscious forces such as sex and aggression. The parental relationship with their children has evolved from autocratic to democratic in today society, and the Individual Psychology principle provides a more acceptable approach for today’s parents to raise up their children in this relatively new changing society. Therefore, the following principles provide a framework for parents to under
