Scientists Breed Mouse That Can't Get Cancer
Meet the supermouse bred by genetic scientists that CAN'T get cancer Mice resistant to cancer have been created in a breakthrough that could lead to a human treatment free of side-effects. A protein produced by the creatures may hold the key to a future therapy. It attacks tumour cells, but does not harm healthy tissue in the body. Scientists hope it can one day be adapted for use in humans -

Nano Cancer Bombs And Mini Organs From MIT
Nano cancer-bombs and mini organs from MIT Scientists at MIT have developed remote-controlled nano particles that, with the push of a button, can deliver drugs directly to a tumour. The same research director has also found a way to build tiny human "livers" just 500 micrometres across. This work should lead to more reliable toxicity testing for new drugs. Maker of Cervical Cancer Vaccine Stops Pushing to Require It for Girls
This week, the drug company Merck announced that it would end a lobbying campaign for Gardasil, its new vaccine for girls and women. The vaccine is designed to protect against four kinds of human papillomavirus, or HPV. These cause about seventy percent of cervical cancers and ninety percent of genital warts. The development of the vaccine has been widely praised. But Merck faced growing criticism for its push for states to require schoolgirls to be vaccinated with Gardasil. The company says the criticism was interfering with its goal of widespread use of the vaccine. The United States Food and Drug Administration approved Gardasil last June for females age nine to twenty-six.At least twenty of the fifty state legislatures have begun to consider some form of Gardasil requirement. In Texas, Governor Rick Perry has ordered that beginning in two thousand eight, girls eleven and twelve years old must be vaccinated with Gardasil. But parents could choose not to, if they object for religious or

To Avoid the Big C, Stay Small I was active and made a good conscientious effort to take care of my health, but I got cancer. Like most people I enjoyed sweets here and there, but overall I maintained a pretty good diet. Yet, cancer came. There are just so many variables, some known and others not known. There are no absolutes. Nevertheless, I still think these well-known guidelines are, of course, beneficial for general health and well-being. As for lymphoma, I could be wrong but I don't think diet and weight are the greatest risk factors. I know many people with lymphoma, who are far from being overweight. The evidence suggests that for cancer of the colon and prostate, for example, weight and poor diet can be significant risk factors but not so much with lymphoma, I think.
Preventing Cancer
Preventing cancer has become big business, at least for the fund raisers anyway. I joined Facebook this spring and have been invited to various breast cancer causes, been asked to donate money for Run For The Cure cancer awareness marathons by at least two friends and in the past month found out a friend has cancer, a cousin’s husband has cancer and another friend was rushed into the hospital for testing on his Thyroid (it was benign).I don’t support the fund raisers, not ever, I feel very strongly against supporting the fund raisers who have no intention of providing a solution and who's only interest is in raising money. What I will do is support the "Make a Wish Foundation" which provides wishes for terminally ill children.I’m not sure if you’re aware or not, but there are known ways to prevent cancer and reverse cancer, but there’s more money in keeping us sick, so you won’t really hear too much about it.I have a friend who provided a way to end cravings for smoking

Report: Excess Body Fat Linked to Cancer
Bacon, Ham and Alcohol added to cancer list...
Wow... and they say red meat in general. A bombshell report yesterday blamed putting on weight, alcohol and a whole range of everyday foods for causing cancer. Consumers were told to curb drinking, avoid processed meats - including bacon, ham and sausages - and cut their intake of red meat and salt. Even supposedly healthy fruit and vegetables were said to offer only "limited" protection

Quality of Life is Key to Cancer Survival: Study
Healthy lifestyle can prevent cancer
In Amsterdam, the Netherlands, the results of a big worldwide research into the connection between lifestyle and cancer have been presented. Scientists have reviewed thousands of studies about prevention and causes of cancer. In the presented report are advises to reduce the risk of cancer. Vegetables, fruits, exercise and low alcohol consumption are recommended. Consuming large amounts of sausage, ham and meatloaf are recommended against. According to a Dutch scientist who worked on the rapport, the conclusions are not a surprise, but were never so well argumented.
