Do you love blogging?
DO YOU? I have often read about the fact that one needs to enjoy blogging, rather than have the main intention to start a blog for the sole purpose of earning money. Previously, when I read such post, my first thought was "That's totally crap!" If you have the same thought, I definitely will not blame you.I started to blog coz I was bored and wanted share what I have learnt from the networld. My blog was my journal to chart my experience in this world. That was more than 2 years ago and back then, I had no idea what Google Adsense was or what blog monetization was. Then, when I learnt a thing or two about blogging for money, the temptation of earning more and more lead me to start other blog. However, as time goes by, I turn to niche blogging and began to enjoy blogging more and more. This very blog started because I wanted to share some basic knowledge of earning through blogging with those bloggers who have the same passion. My other blog, Playing Is Fun-Check These Games Out! has evo

The ROI of Blogging? Intangible
Apart from keeping Rob company via Instant Messaging (MXit) on my mobile phone while lying in bed during the wee hours of the morning, this is when I, the newest QuirkStar, read most of my RSS feeds. One such feed found at Web Strategy by Jeremiah Owyang struck a cord with me and will be the foundation of my first post here on GottaQuirk. I celebrate two years of blogging this Sept 2007. It’s been a fast period of my life, that for sure. I first started blogging to understand the tools, share my ideas, so I could then deploy at my corporate job, boy, I didn’t realize the personal and professional benefits it would bring.I also celebrate two years of blogging as Your Web AddiCT this December 2007 but unlike Jeremiah I do not ever want to do a corporate job, another reason for being at Quirk: it ain't no corporate job :) Ditto to it being a fast period of my life too. Actually, I started blogging from mid 1999 to November 2001 (the same time Quirk was born) to flex my HTML m

PR and Blogging Outreach: Practical Tips
Note: this is the second of two guest-posts from PR guru-ess Cece Salomon-Lee on how Web 2.0 has changed the practice of PR. The first covered macro issues; this piece focuses on how PR professionals can best approach bloggers. In my first post on PR and blogging, I had discussed the macro issues impacting the quality of outreach—both traditional media and blogging. I've been thinking about this topic over the past few weeks realized that good blogger relationships is one part doing your research, one part old school PR and one part transparency. In some cases, bloggers will provide you with rules when contacting them. Some of these rules are included below, while others may be more specific to the blogger's interest, for example, CK's Rules for PR folks.Based on these three components, here are 8 Tips about Blogging Outreach:1. Bloggers are not journalists: One mistake is believing that bloggers are like journalists but they're not. Bloggers write because they are passionate about
Blogging Contest
Blogging Contest is becoming increasingly popular around the blogosphere. Since blogging contest has been proven to increase the number of traffic and links to a blog, a lot of bloggers have started to host their own. As a result, you would normally stumble upon blogging contest as you go around visiting other blogs. These blogging contests have different requirements and offers different prizes. Normally, blogging contests would require you to review a certain blog, link to a blog using some customized buttons or help a blog to increase its traffic. In return, you'll get the chance to win their prizes, which could be any of the following: permanent link, monetary reward, computer related products, seo books among others. The other day, I've decided to join a blogging contest hosted by Chris at Blogsrecord.com. In order to qualify, I've created a review of Blogsrecord.com and included a Blogsrecord button on my right side bar. I hope you find time to join the contest as well. Here are
Blogsrecord.com - Blogging Mix Review
When I've started Blogging Mix, the first thing I did was to get my blog registered to as much Search Engine, RSS and Open Web Directories as possible. This is a good way to start a successful blog for 2 reasons:Increase the number of links to your blog, which will also increase your blog's Page Ranking (Google and Technorati).Get your blog exposed to more people who are using directories. This will result to an increase in the number of traffic to your blog.Speaking of directories, I've decided to blog about Blogsrecord.com in today's post. What is Blogsrecord.com?Blogsrecord is a promising new social blog directory where you can submit your blog, search for blog of your interest and interact with other members. Blogging Mix - Performance Report 3 Months Since It's Launched
After investing so much hardwork on my blog, I'm happy to see results. Here's a short report on how my blog has been doing 3 months after it was launched. If you have been checking on my Technorati blog ranking and blog authority, you probably found out that I've managed to increase my authority from 2 to 127. This has been achieved in less than a month. It wasn't an easy task but the results well compensated my efforts. My Technorati blog ranking tremendously improved from 2,000,000+ to 39,349. As for my Alexa Traffic Ranking, I've noticed changes as well although a lot of work is still needed to significantly improve it. I've set it as one of my goals for the comming month (improve my Alexa Traffic Ranking).Since I've started blogging, I've noticed an increase in the number of my feed subscribers. In as short as three months, Blogging Mix readers have grown to more than 120+. My daily blog traffic usually exceeds 100 unique visits as reflected on my Site Meter. On the other ha
Atomic Blogging
One of my reader asked me about Atomic Blogging, whether is it worth it to buy? Atomic Blogging, what’s that? Since my reader asked me, I’ve decided to purchase it and see is it worth it. As you know, I am not into spending money unless it’s really worth it! The only blogging ebook that I’ve purchased was Rob Benwell’s Blogging To The Bank 2.0.  Atomic Blogging by Alvin Phang is something that you must have if you want to make money from your blog. Some of the information revealed by Alvin is rather new to me, an eye opening information. If you think getting traffic to your blog is as easy as writing a post and submitting it, then you are totally misleaded. Because that’s not enough to make it irresistible to search engines like Google, Yahoo or MSN. After posting your article on your blog, you will actually need to accomplish more steps like submitting your post to article directories and search engines to get slightly noticed! What is Atomic Blogging? Unlike the norma

Is it important to choose the blogging platform according to needs?
The simple answer is yes, cause as you are out here with a blog to get you read so you must be consciously, and choose the platform   wisely as it is the most important part of a blog and also for a blogger. Here few things you have to keep in mind, 1> How much technical knowledge you have? 2>How much time you are going to invest for your blog? 3>How much time you are going to invest to build up a reader community 4>Do you want to earn money? 5>Are you a professional?   First of all if you do not have much knowledge or I should say basic knowledge then you should  start with very easy to use blogging platform,in all blogging platform you are likely to get this at least.   It is upto you that how much time you can invest for your blog, you need to put a lot of time in your starting days,so think or consider this factor also.Basically posting does not make any sense till someone reads it so you need readers and you have to put a lot of effor

Blogging...the beginning....
I have had a look around the Blogger site to check out some of the other blogs. It is an interesting combination of normal people and weirdo’s who post strange stock market and property reports (who are these people and why?).Anyway, my blog you could say has been divinely inspired. I have decided to help others by blogging my sad single life and its associated adventures. I need some karmic brownie points and I feel that this is a good way to help others in a similar position to myself. Why do I think this is may be helpful to others? Let me recount my brief tale.Last week I met with a friend, Mrs. J., who has recently become happily married with a new baby. Like many of us, she also has many friends who are single. One of her friends has recently started internet dating on TIDSTSRN*. The conversation went something like this:J.K. - “She’s very depressed about being single and is going to go to one of TIDSTSRN* events this weekend. She thinks that it will be better than meeting

Blogging Our Way To The Future
I would like to go off topic for today to speak about a guest which appeared on the Colbert Report last evening. Andrew Keen spoke about how the Internet is destroying our culture by allowing armatures to take on the role of a professional. He also believes that the Internet is a breeding ground for people stealing other artists work. Listen to this quote:"We need objective professional journalists who responsibly collect the news rather than anonymous bloggers who are often in pay of corporations and foreign governments."I have been blogging for over a year and I can say that I have not seen a penny from any company or foreign government (I know I have ads on my site but I have never made any money from them). I would also trust hearing news more from someone who loves writing about their topic as opposed to a journalist who is paid to sway the story in a direction which benefits their sponsors. I can also say that I am in no way anonymous since my name appears in the URL of this site
