A few months ago, the Boston Red Sox were had a decent lead over the New York Yankees in terms of popularity to baseball fans. However, it appears that the New York Yankees have come from behind to take the lead as they overtake the Boston Red Sox in the popularity index from Yahoo. Some of this explosion is due to the Hall of Fame New York Yankee player, Phil Rizzuto, sadly passing away. However most of the growth came from before Phil Rizzuto died.
