Both Apple Inc and Starbucks Corp have agreed a deal which will allow people who go into the coffee shops to have free WiFi access so they can then buy song wirelessly from Apple’s iTunes music store. This free Wi-Fi connection will debut in more than 600 of the Starbucks coffee shops in both Seattle and New York from the 2nd October, later this year this free service will expand across other major cities in the U.S. This new deal is hoped to improve coffee sales in Starbucks stores and also Apple are hoping to increase their music downloads. Howard Schultz, the Starbucks Chairman has refused to discuss the deal in detail, although he did say that the deal is “mutually beneficial to both Apple and Starbucks.” It seems Apple are working hard to improve sales in all areas of their company, what with the recent news of a new iPod Nano, classic iPod, iPod Touch and also a price cut for the Apple iPhone. Believe it or not Steve Jobs actually thinks most people are still clueless as to what to come up within the very close announcement regarding the huge Apple event. Oh how wrong he is. Now of course, we can never be one hundred percent sure, but I suppose time will tell as to whether we are correct or not. Reasonable evidence suggests that a new iPod Nano design has been brought about, making the screen bigger, and giving the small device a more square shape as opposed to the long rectangular shape it currently holds. Apparently, it can play videos too, not that I can see why anyone would want to on such an inevitably small screen. There is much speculation surrounding the upcoming Apple Event, we know that they will announce something new and great but what has sparked of many debates. We all know that when it comes to Apple products, Steve Jobs certainly knows what he’s talking about. With the extremely impressive selection of iMacs, iPods and the newly successful iPhone, I doubt that Apple have yet to make a product with any kind of major flaw. However, I personally do doubt the decision of digital radio in an iPod. The reason is due to the fact that I feel Apple are beginning to lose that exclusivity that they always had, especially id they decide to allow third party applications to control their device. However, with every good idea comes a money making one too, that being that Apple may be planning to charge people to download the tracks they’re listening to, which is convenient. Samsung used to be a joke when it came to cell phones many years ago, but times have changed and they seem to be releasing new phones every month. We now have the Samsung Croix, which Samsung believe will be able to do battle with the Apple iPhone. The Samsung Croix has a brand new touch screen, the interface that this new cell phone uses in called Croix which means cross in French. The Samsung Croix has started its early like well by winning an iF Communication Design Award 2007. Although Samsung have said that the new Samsung Croix will do battle with the iPhone, it is not known how long we will have to wait until Samsung release their new touch screen mobile phone.
